1 Introduction English Introduction Thank you for purcha sin g the BenQ DE320 D VD Recorder. With the DVD Recor der, you can either: • play your prerecorded DVDs and CDs, or • record TV pro grams or vid eo device (VCR or Camcord er) recordings onto DVDs .

43 Playing a disc English Playing a recordable DVD If a recorda ble DVD is pro tected against r ecording (DVD +RW) or has been finali zed (DVD+R), the DVD Recorder wi ll play the disc auto mat ically. If it doesn’t, y ou can manually start play. See below.

63 Recording English Recording Recordable m edia types The BenQ DE320 DVD Record er allows you to make recor dings on two differen t types of media: DVD +R W : ReWrit able Di gital Versa til e Dis cs (DVD ), which means y ou can recor d data on the disc at several di fferent times until the disc is full, including o ver previous r ecordings.
64 Recording Engli sh Record mode The Record mode setting deter mines the recordi ng quality and the total disc play ing time of your DVDs r ecorded u sing the DVD Recorder. You sh ould set the rec ord mode bef ore starting a recording , as the mode canno t be changed dur ing a recording s ession.

69 Timer recording English Timer recording General Inform ation The timer recor ding functi on will start an d stop recording t he video you've selec ted at the time and date you set. The DVD Recorder allows you t o program it to record up t o 8 recordings in the future.
70 Timer rec ording Engli sh Setting up timer recording 6. Press the Down button to selec t ’ VPS/ PDC ’ and then press the OK button to enable or disa ble the VPS/PDC function. Tip VPS (video programming system) and PDC (program delivery control) are used to control the start and end time of a rec ording.

74 Managing recordings Engli sh Hiding/showing chapters By default all chapter s on a disc are visi ble. You can hide c h apters for pla yback (e.g. commerci al skipping) or make them visible ag ai n. In editing mode, hidden c hapters are displayed in grey.
75 Managing recordings English Deleting chap ters Within a title, you ca n either erase indi vidual chapte r markers or all markers. 1. Whil e playing a s uitable un protected and unfinali zed recordable DVD+RW t ype disc, go t o the chapter you wish to d elete.

81 Managing recordings English Finalizing edits Even if one or more titles have been edited, a DVD player may still show the origi nal title. You can prepare y our disc so that a DVD player wi ll read the edited ti tle instead.
82 Managing recordings Engli sh Finalizing a DVD+R Dis c You must finalize a DV D+R disc before playing i t on general DVD p layers, however, yo u do not have to finalize a disc i f you wa nt to play it only the DVD Recorder. Once the disc has been fi nalized no further rec ordings or ch anges can b e made to that disc.
