If you are in stalling a 3 1 / 2 -inch har d drive , check to m ake sure your d rive is set to “M aster” (see jumper setting inform ation printed on top of your disk d rive), then connect th e 34-position data cable an d 4-position power cable .

7 A SSEMBLING YOUR DRIVE ENCLOSURE 11. Plug the r ectangular-shaped connector o f the USB cable in to a Hi-Speed U SB 2.0 port on your computer or Hi-Speed U SB 2.0 hub . Y ou may also connect th e cable to a USB 1.1 full-speed port on your computer or USB 1.
8 U sing the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Interf ace: 1. Insert th e installation CD in your CD-ROM d rive. 2. Open the In stall CD. 3. Run “SETUP” to install th e drivers for your Hi-Speed U SB 2.0 External Drive . 4. An installer di alog box appears. Cli ck “Next” .

13 FORMA T THE DRIVE 5. Select “Disk Drives” . Your n ew hard disk will appear in the har d drive list. 6. Double-click on th e entry for your har d drive .
14 FORMA T THE DRIVE DOS Method (Recommended for A dvanced User s Only) 1. Click on “Start” an d choose “Progr ams” . Select “MSDOS” . 2. At the DOS prompt, type “FDISK” an d press “Enter” . Note: If the FDISK utility terminates without displaying an error message , e xit back to Windows and disconnect the Drive Enclosure .

IMPORT ANT NO TE: Be sure that you select option 5 and change the “Current Fix ed Disk” from “Disk 1” to the disk number assigned t o yo ur external drive .
