Refer to the cabling diagram, or Getting to know your Cintiq . Important: Never connect or disconnect the video or power cables while your computer or Cintiq are power ed on.

19 19 Index Index Contents Contents CONFIGURING CINTIQ FOR HANDEDNESS Y our Cintiq can be used in either one of two landscape orientations. During the instal lation pr ocess, you we re p rompte d to choose a d efault configuration for Cin tiq based on whether you are right-handed or left-handed.
20 20 Index Index Contents Contents HOLDING THE PEN Hold the pen like you would a normal pen or pencil. Ad just your grip so that the side switch is in a convenient location where you can t oggle it with your thumb or for efing er . Be careful not to accidentally press the switch while drawing or positioning with the pen.
21 21 Index Index Contents Contents POSITIONING CLICKING T o position the screen cursor , move the pen slightly above the Cintiq screen without touching the scr een surface. Press the pen tip on the screen to make a selection. Note: Calibrating the Cint iq ensures corr ect alignment of the screen cursor with the pen tip.
22 22 Index Index Contents Contents DRAGGING USING THE SIDE SWITCH The pen comes equipped with a side switch. This sw itch has two customizable functions that can be selected by rocking the switch in either dir ection. Y ou can use the si de switch whenever the pen tip is within proximity (5 mm (0.

Click on the Windows STAR T button and choose A LL P ROG RA M S . Then select W ACOM T ABLET and choose the W ACOM T ABLET P ROPERTIES option.
30 30 Index Index Contents Contents CONTR OL PANEL OVERVIEW Use the W acom T ablet control panel to customize your Cintiq or Grip Pen. When you open the contr ol panel, an icon for the Grip Pen or ot her input tool is displayed in the T OOL list. The appropriate tabs are displayed.
31 31 Index Index Contents Contents T ool Tips are available for most contr ol panel items. Position the scr een cu rsor over an item and let it r est there. The appr opriate T ool Tip will pop up in a few moments. Y our keyboard tab and arrow keys can also be used to navigat e the contr ol panel .

33 33 Index Index Contents Contents CALIBRATING THE CINTIQ For optimum performance, you must calibrate the Cintiq to align the scr een cursor with the po sition of the pen on the screen. This is r equir ed to compensate for viewing angle, and to adjust for parallax .

35 35 Index Index Contents Contents ADJUSTING TIP FEEL AND DOUBLE-CLICK T o adjust the tip sensitivity of your pen, select the P EN tab. Customizes the am ount of pressure needed to clic k, draw , or ink. T o create broad brush stro kes or to click with a light touch, use a S OFT tip setting.

Double-click her e to chang e the functi on assigned to the pen tip. The tip must be set to C LICK in or der to draw in most graphics applications.
38 38 Index Index Contents Contents CUSTOMIZING TILT SENSITIVITY T o adjust the tilt sensitivit y of your pen, select the P EN tab. Tilt sensitivity deter mines how far you have to tilt the tool to pr oduce the ma ximum tilt ef fect. Y ou need to tilt the pen less at high sensitivity than at low sensitivity .

Each position on the Rocker Ring, as well as the Home Button, can be customized to perform a Disp lay T oggle, modifier , keystroke, or other function.

50 50 Index Index Contents Contents APPLICATION-SPECIFIC SETTINGS Y ou can customize your tools for use with a particular application. For example, you may prefer a firm pen tip pressur e setting i n one application and a soft pr essur e setting in another .

After adding an application, its icon appears in the A PPLICATION list whenever the r espective tool is selected in the T OOL list.

If the light is not on, check that the power ca ble is properly conn ected between the powe r adapter and an active AC outlet.
56 56 Index Index Contents Contents T ESTING CONTR OLS AND INPUT TOOLS If the Grip Pen or the Cintiq controls do not work as you expect, it is a good idea to first check the assigned functions or r eset them to their default conditions. A quick way to r eturn a pen to its default condit ion is to r emove it fr om the control panel T OOL list.

The tablet portion of Cintiq emits electr omagnetic waves at a certa in frequency . If another tablet is pl aced too close to the Cintiq it may interfere wi th scr een cursor positioning.
65 65 Index Index Contents Contents WINDOWS-SPECIFIC PR OBLEMS Y ou suspect the Cintiq prefer ences may be corrupted, or want to make certain that all settings are at their factory defaults. Use the W acom T ablet Prefer ence File Utility to work with prefer ences.
66 66 Index Index Contents Contents MAC-SPECIFIC PROBLEMS At startup, a d ialog box appears telling you that either the driver failed to l oad or the Cintiq prefer ences have not yet been cr eated. The tablet portion of the Cintiq was not detected at startup .
