To Remove the Lid: Lift up on one lid flap while holding the container securely. To Remove the Lid Plug: Rotate the lid plug counterclockwise from the “locked” to “unlocked” position and lift out.
ABOUT THE BLADES 8 The Vitamix machine c omes standard with the wet blade c ontainer . The blade is identified by a “W” for w et. This blade is used for most of your r ecipes. Additional containers with w et or dry blades may be pur chased separately .
9 The tamper allo ws you to ac celerate the pr ocess of very thick and/ or fro zen mixtures that cannot be proc essed in a regular blender . Using the tamper maintains circulation by pr even ting air pockets fr om forming.
C ONTROL P ANEL 10 On/ O Switch ( l )/( O ): The swit ch is located on the front left side of the machine belo w the control panel and below the On/ O light. The On/ O switch contr ols the power t o the machine. While plugged in, switch t o On to ready the machine for blending.

15 Container T o prepar e y our new machine f or initial use, follow the st eps under Normal Cleaning below . This will clean the unit, and break -in the motor . Normal Cleaning: 1. Fill the container half full with warm wa ter and add a couple drops of liquid dish w ashing deter gent to the container .
Motor Base 1. Unplug the power c ord. 2. W ash the outside surface with a damp, soft cloth or sponge, which has been rinsed in a mild solution of liquid deter gent and warm water . Do not place the motor base in w ater . 3. The centering pad can be r emov ed for more thor ough cleaning.
