Inf or mation r eg arding the use of the mac hine Carefully r ead the infor mation into this book because ther e are impor tant suggestions about security for people using the mac hine and for those who mak e servicing. The machine must be used only in the wa y and for the pur pose it has been built for .
6 2. General saf ety r ules and war ranty Should any unauthorised modication be performed on the equipment or should the maintenance be def ective and/or inadequate, the manuf acturer is reliev ed from every liability for damages due to improper or wrong use of the equipment.
7 3. Connect the machine 3.1 . Connect to existing wat er lines and to dr ain system Chec k that the connections to the water works and the water outlets are complying with the current law provisions; mak e also sure that there are no obstructions af fecting the w ater outow .

Connect t o pow er supply The electrical feeding must be done through an automatic switc h, suit able to the power of the mac hine (see the identication plate on the mac hine) and provided with thermic protection and fuses (this installation work must be carried out by skilled personnel only).
9 3.3. S witch the mac hine ON Switc h the Po wer butt on ON : the orange light will turn on. The boiler w ater inlet and the element will automatically st art; once the boiler is lled the Red Heating Element Activity Lamp is informing the element is worming up.
10 4. Br ewing espresso 4.1 . Brewing espr esso: semiaut omatic version Press belonging to the reference group to st art pouring coff ee. The led corresponding to the pressed ke y lights up and remains on during all coff ee dispensation. T o stop cof f ee dispensation, press key 4.
11 4.3. Br ewing espr esso: electr onic version doses pr ogramming Eac h cof fee dose’ s quantit y can be modied thanks to the volumetric control and can be memorized through the follo wing procedure: 1) Press the k ey , keep it pressed for more than 5 seconds until the LED is on.
12 5. Grouphead w ashing cy cle 5.1 . Grouphead washing cy cle: electr onic version The w ashing cycle allows the cof f ee groups’ cleaning and can be started as follo ws: press the ke y and then the rst dose key 1LO both belonging to the group to be w ashed.
13 6. Steam milk and puor hot w ater T o produce steam acting on the Steam V alve. T o pour w ater acting on the lever of the Hot Water V alve. F or this rst use of the machine, once the pressure is above about 0.5 you should ush the boiler to be sure that the machine is w orking properly .
14 6.1 . increase/decr ease pressur e/temper atur e The pressurestat controls temperature (pressure) by sensing the pressure in the steam boiler . Accessing the pressurest at adjustment is simple.
15 7 . Hints, Tips, and T r ic ks 7 .1 . Maximizing Steaming P ower Y ou probably have noticed that the heating element cycles on an of f while the mac hine is in operation and ev en when it is idling . That can be seen by watc hing the Heating Element Activity Lamp on the control panel.
16 7 .3. Minimizing Mineral Buildup Mineral buildup in the boiler can be minimized b y using the proper quality water and b y de-scaling as mentioned in the general instr uctions. Another w ay to lessen this scale accumulation is to pump water out of the boiler occasionally .
17 8. Cleaning and Maintenance As with all ne tools, the Vibiemme espresso mac hines can give y ou years of trouble-free service and bet ter performance if properly maint ained. Y our Vibiemme espresso machines does require a bit of care, but it is not at all difcult.
18 8.2. After eac h stratc hing milk The st eam wand must be wiped of f immediately after every use with a damp tow el or dish rag af ter removing the wand from the milk. As soon as the wand is wiped, the steam valve should be briey opened and closed to create a blast of steam to force out the remaining milk that may be in the wand.
19 5 - Repeat steps 3 and 4 two or three times. 6 - Loosen but do not remove the P ortafilter and turn on the brew switc h again. Wiggle the handle to loosen the portalter a bit so that water can ush the area around the grouphead. W ARNING: Hot wat er will spill out and pour onto the dr ip tray .
20 8.4. Bac kflushing This is the process of f orcing some special cleaner bac k though the Gr ouphead . This will remove any stray cof fee lef t in the places that normal, day-to-da y cleaning cannot reac h.
21 9 - Remov e the Blind filter bask et , rinse the Portafilter assembly , and you are done. It is suggested that the rst pull after bac kushing be discarded just in case a bit of cleaner is lef t that could taint the cof fee. CA UTION: The cleaning products meant for backushing must NEVER be used in the water reser v oir .
22 8.7 . Grouphead Gask et Replacement The thic k, rubber gasket that seals the Portafilter in the Grouphead is subjected to a lot of heat and pressure. Over time it will harden and the port alter’ s action will create a depression in the surface.
23 8.9. Long T er m Stor age The boiler and heat ex changer contain water . Because of that, if your Vibiemme is not going to be used for a while or is being placed into storage, some f actors must be considered. The rst is temperature. If it can be av oided the machine should never be stored where it will be subjected to freezing temperat ures.
