7 Chateau™ 2001 1956 A hearth is not mandatory but is recommended for aesthetic purposes. We recommend a noncombustible hearth which projects out 12” (305 mm) or more from the front of the fireplace. The hearth cannot exceed 1 ¹⁄₂ ” (38mm) in height from bottom of fireplace for ease of door accessibility .

9 Chateau™ 2001 1956 Control System The gas control system is located on the right hand side of the firebox behind an access panel and the decora- tive brick panel. The fireplace is operated using only the hand held remote control unit. The system wiring diagram is shown in Figure 1 1.

18 Chateau™ 2001 1956 Horizontal T ermination The vent must rise vertically a minimum of 24” (610mm) off the top of the unit, before the first elbow . The hori- zontal run may extend up to 20’ (6 m) and include a ver- tical rise of up to 40’ (12 m).

20 Chateau™ 2001 1956 • The maximum number of 45° elbows permitted per side wall installation is two (2). These elbows can be installed in either the vertical or horizontal run. (Fig. 19) • For each 45° elbow installed in the horizontal run, the length of the horizontal run MUST be reduced by 18” (45 cm).
21 Chateau™ 2001 1956 STEP 3 Slide the zero clearance sleeve through the wall and install the firestop on the inside surface of the wall. Secure with four (4) #8 sheet metal screws. STEP 4 Place fireplace into position. (Fig. 23) Measure the ver- tical height (X) required from the base of the flue collars to the center of the wall opening.

28 Chateau™ 2001 1956 3. Start with either the right side refractory or left side refractory . Hold the refractory at an angle. Slide and seat the bottom edge toward the bottom of the firebox. T ilt it carefully toward the side until the piece is in place.
