GETTING ST ARTED [ 7 ] GETTING ST ARTED Charge the battery pack f or at least 15-20 hours befor e plugging the phone line into your phone . 1) Press in on th e battery cover release an d slid e the cover down un til it comes off.
GETTING ST ARTED [ 8 ] Battery use time (per charge) From fully char ged • Seven hours con tinuous use • Fourteen days wh en the handset is in th e standby m ode Low Battery Alert When th e battery pack is very low and needs to be charg ed, the ph one is pr ogrammed to elimin ate functi ons in ord er to save power .
GETTING ST ARTED [ 9 ] INST ALLING AND ADJUSTING GETTING ST ARTED C . Connect the base unit 1) Connect th e AC ad apter to the DC IN 9V jack and to a stan dard 120V A C wall outlet. 2) Set the base on a d esk or tabletop, and place the han dset on the base unit as shown.
[ 10 ] GETTING ST ARTED D. Choose the dialing mode Most ph one systems use ton e dialin g which sends D TMF tones thr ough the ph one lines . However some ph one system s still use pulse dialing su ch as in rural ar eas. The d efault setting is ton e dialin g.

BASICS [ 16 ] Flash and Call W aiting If you have "Call W aiting" service an d a call waiting ton e sounds while you are on a call, pr ess flash to accept the waitin g call. Ther e is a short pause , then you will h ear the n ew caller . T o return to th e origin al caller , press flash again.
BASICS [ 1 7 ] BASICS Using One T ouch V oice Mail Access Y ou must subscribe to voice m ail service fr om your telephon e company in or der to use this feature . The voice m ail service company will pr ovid e you with the access number . If you subscribe to voice m ail service , you can use your EXT1160/EXT1165 to access your voice m ailbox.

MEMOR Y DIALING [ 1 9 ] MEMOR Y DIALING Storing Phone Numbers and Names Mem ory Dialing allows you to di al a number usin g just a few key strok es. Y our EXT1160/EXT1165 stores up to 10 n ames/numbers in th e handset. 1) Press an d hold memory un til " Memory Store " is displayed.
MEMOR Y DIALING [ 20 ] • Y ou have 20 seconds after pressin g memory to enter th e number you wish to store . Otherwise , an error ton e will sound . • The pause featur e is useful for lon g distance callin g, credit car d dialin g, or sequences that requir e a pause between digits .
MEMOR Y DIALING [ 2 1 ] Making Calls with Memory Dialing Memory dialing from Standb y Mode 1) Press memory . The han dset displays your programm ed mem ory locations . 2) Press ▼ and ▲ or enter the n umber (0 - 9) to select the m emory location you would lik e to dial.

CALLER ID FEA TURES [ 3 1 ] CALLER ID FEA TURES USING THE ANSWERING DEVICE 3) Press ▲ or ▼ to select " Yes " or " No ". 4) Press select/ch or delete . When the pointer is at " Yes " : A tone soun ds and all stored Caller ID m essages are d eleted.
CALLER ID FEA TURES [ 32 ] Calling a party from the Caller ID list Y ou can place a call from th e Caller ID list. The EXT1160/EXT1165 stores up to 30 m essages. 1) Press call id . Select the phon e number that you want to dial by pr essing ▲ or ▼ .
