2 UPS Location W arnings • Install your UPS indoors, away from e xcess moisture or heat, conductiv e contaminants, dust or direct sunlight. • For best performance, keep the indoor temperature between between 32º F and 104º F (0º C and 40º C). • Leav e adequate space around all sides of the UPS for proper ventilation.
3 Quic k Installation Connect your UPS to an electrical outlet. Y our UPS will run a self-test after it is plugged in. See Basic Operation to understand the results of its self-test. Plug your computer , monitor and external modem into UPS/Sur ge outlets.
4 4 These connections are optional. Y our UPS will func- tion properly without these connections. Phone Line/Network Line Sur ge Suppression Y our UPS can protect your equipment against surges o ver a phone line. Select models ha ve RJ45 jacks that can also be used to protect against surges ov er a network data line (see Specifications).
Cold-Start Y our UPS: Y ou may “cold start” your UPS and use it as a stand-alone power source when utility po wer is not present, providing that the UPS battery is charged. T o “cold start” your UPS, press and hold the ON/OFF button until you hear a beep (about 2 seconds), then release it.
6 6 B A TTER Y CHARGE : This red light will turn ON continuously after the UPS runs a self-test to indicate that the UPS’ s battery is weakly charged. If it remains lit after you ha ve allo wed the UPS to charge for twelv e hours and run a second self-test, contact T ripp Lite for service.
7 Storage All connected equipment should be turned off, then disconnected from the UPS to a void battery drain. Unplug your UPS from its A C receptacle, then press and hold its ON/OFF b utton to deactiv ate it.
