SD-W1101 D VD-RAM with REALmagic Hollywood+ Playback Card Installation Instructions Congratulations on your purchase of a T oshiba SD-W1101 D VD-RAM driv e and REALmagic Hollywood+ D VD/MPEG-2 Playbac k Car d Kit. The following information will help you in the simple installation of your ne w DVD-RAM.
The follow steps must be performed to properly install your D VD-RAM. l Set D VD-RAM driv e jumper settings. l Connect audio cable. l Install SCSI host adapter board. l Attach SCSI interface cable. l Connect power cable. l Mount D VD-RAM. SETTING JUMPERS The block of mode select jumpers are located on the rear of the D VD- RAM.
T est - This setting is for manuf acturer use only . Do not jumper . T erminator ON/OFF - This jumper turns termination po wer ON or OFF . If you are connecting more than one SCSI device to your system, and the D VD-RAM is not at the end of the chain, then terminator jumper is not required.
4 Daisy-Chaining - If the D VD-RAM you are installing is one of two or more SCSI devices you are connecting to your system, you will need to use a custom built SCSI interface cable. Remember that the terminator jumper on the D VD-RAM dri ve must ha ve the jumper installed when the drive is the last device in the chain.
5 Audio Cable (optional) - If you have a sound card and speakers, and would lik e to play audio CDs on your computer , you will need to get a sound cable. Contact AMC, our small parts supplier , at 888/262-9700. Sound cables are made for the sound card you are using and the D VD- RAM to which you are connecting.
6 U SING “W RITE D VD” After installing software, your D VD-RAM drive will be assigned tw o drive letters. One will be for “read only” media (a CD icon) and the other will be for “D VD-RAM” media ( a removab le disk icon). Use your D VD- RAM drive just like any other drive on your system.
7 D VD-RAM RECORDING CAR TRIDGE When recording a D VD-RAM, you must use a “recording” cartridge. There are two types of cartridges: T ype 1: • Cartridge is re versible (side A & B). • Disc cannot be removed from cartridge. • Cartridges are available with single-sided* or double-sided discs.
