3 SETUP – SD-M1612 D VD-ROM The following steps must be performe d to properly install your drive: • Set Drive Jumper Settings • Connect Audio Cable (o ptional) • Attach IDE BUS Cable • Attach Power Cable • Mount Drive Jumper Settings The mode select jumpers are 6 straight angle pi n s located on the rear of the DVD-ROM drive.
4 Placing DVD-ROM Drive inside your Computer Now that you have set the jumpers, you are read y to install your DVD- ROM drive inside your com puter. Important Note: Disconnect power fr om your co mputer system before b eginning installation. Remove computer co ver and faceplate if required.
5 Audio Cable (optional) - If you have a sound card and speakers, and would like t o play audio CDs on your computer, you will need to install a CD/DVD audio ca ble. Toshiba's DVD-ROM dri ves use a standard 4-pin audio cable that can be purchased from mo st local computer suppliers.
6 USING THE D VD D VD-R OM Drive – SD-M1612 Drive Operation Inserting a Disc - Horizontally To insert a disc into a drive that is moun ted horizont ally, perform the following steps: Figure 1.Inserting Disc 1. Open the drive's L oading tra y b y pressing the Eject Button.
7 Removing a Disc To remove a disc from the DVD-RO M drive, perform the following steps: 1. Open the Loading T r ay by pressing the Eject Button. 2. Grasp disc by edges , and lift out of loading tra y . 3. Press Eject Button again to close Loading T ray .
8 NOTE: Use a bar that is less than 1.5 mm in diameter . Do not insert more than 50mm in depth. Inserting more than 50mm may damag e the DVD-ROM drive. Handling Media DVD media is sensitive to dust and fingerprints. Carefully han dle media by its edges only.
