- 3 - Equipment Inspection • Upon receipt of the equipment, inspect the packaging and e quipment for shipping damage. • Carefully unpack the equipment and check fo r parts that may have been damaged during shipping, missing parts, or concealed damage.
- 4 - Operati ng the VCB Failure to take the opp o rtunit y to discover abnormalities can result in i njuries and equipment damage. Always c h eck to make sure that the ON and OFF indicators are correct before operating the equipment. To avoid damaging the equipment, do n o t close the circuit when th e unit swit ching indicator is ON.
- 5 - During Use Installation location To prevent damage to the VCB or performance degr adation, do not store or install it in the following locations: * Places whose ambient temperature is outside the range of -5 C to 40 C (23 F t o 104 F).

- 9 - 2. From Receipt to Storage 2.1 Receipt and Unpacking Each VCB unit is carefully tested and inspected prior to shipment, so it can be used as soon as it has been unpacked. However, just in case something should be amiss, you should check the following: (1) When the box is delivered, check to make sure it is not damaged or warped.

- 1 1 - 2.2.2 Drawo u t Cell When hoisting the drawout unit, attach cable (wire rope) to the holes on the l eft and right of the rear of the unit, as shown in Figure 3.
- 12 - 2.3 Storage Use the following procedures if the VCB will not be operated for a long period of time after it has been installed, or if it must be stored for a long period of time prior to installation. Be sure to observe the precautions for storage and installation locations (see page 5).
- 13 - 3. Installation Make sure the location satisfied the requirements listed under Storage and Installation Location (page 3) and check the dimensions usi ng the diagrams in other catalogs or external view diagrams and panel cut diagram.

- 16 - 4. Operation Failure to take the opportunity to discover abnormalities can result in injuries and equipment damage. Always check to make sure that the ON and OFF indicators are correct before operating the equipment. 4.1 Manual Operation To avoid damaging the equipment, do not close the circuit w hen the unit switching indicator is ON.
- 17 - (1) When the spring is released - Perform the steps shown in Figures 13 and 14 in that order. (2) When the spring is taut - Perform the step shown in Figure 15. Figure 13 Turn the handle clockwise 3 to 5 times and make sure that the spring status is taut.

- 21 - 4.3.2 Undervo ltage Tr ip All HV6CS breakers are furnished with an undervol t age trip device. The Undervoltage trip dev ice operates to tri p the circuit breaker OFF unless 120V AC control power is present at the terminals of the UV (TC4) trip coil.
