3-2 Sa tellite A200/Satellite Pro A200 Getting Started Connecting the AC adapter Attach the AC adapter when you need to charge the battery or you want to operate from AC power. It is also the fastest way to get started, because the battery pack will need to be charged b efore you can ope rate from battery power.
Satellite A200/Satellite Pro A200 3-3 Getting Started Opening the display The display panel can be rotated in a wide range of angles for optimal viewing. 1. Push the display latch on the front of the computer. Opening the display 2. Lift the panel u p and adjust it to the best viewing angl e for you.

This partition stores files wh ich can be used to restore pre-installed software in the event of a problem.

Turn off the power to the computer a nd to all external devices connected to the computer. 2. Plug one end of the cable i nto the LAN jack. Press gently until you hear the latch click into place.
Satellite A200/Satellite Pro A200 4-11 Operating Basi cs Network It may not be possible to make a netw ork connection to a specified network name using the ad hoc network function. If this occurs, th e new network(*) will have to be configured for al l computers conn ected to the same network in order to re-enable network connections.

Using optical disc drives The illustrations in this section might differ slightly from you r drive, but operation is the same for all opt ical di sc drives.
4-14 Satellite A200/Satellite Pro A200 Operating B asics b. Pressing the eject bu tton will not open the drawer when the computer's powe r is off. If the power i s off, you can open the drawer by inserting a slender object (about 15 mm) such as a straightened paper clip into the eject hole just to the right of the eject button.

Gently pull the drawer out until it is fully opened. 2. The disc extends slightly over the sides of the drawer so you can grasp it.

Satellite A200/Satellite Pro A200 4-21 Operating Basi cs ■ If the disc is poor in quality, dirty or damaged, writing or rewriting errors may occur. Be careful to check th e disc for dirt or damage before you use it. ■ The actual number of rew rites to CD-RW or DVD-RW/ +RW/-RAM is affected by the qu ality of the di sc and the way i t is used.
4-22 Satellite A200/Satellite Pro A200 Operating B asics ■ Two types of DVD-R/+R/- RW/+RW/-RAM discs are on the market: data and video. Use a video disc to stor e video data. You can use video discs on a DVD recorder as w ell as on your compu ter's DVD-ROM dri ve.

Do not use a n unstable surface such as a stand. ■ Keep mobile phones and other wireless communicat ion devices away from the computer.
