Congratulations on your purchase of a T oshiba D VD-RAM dri ve and Kit. The following information will help you in the simple installation of your ne w D VD- RAM drive.
2 The following steps must be performed to pr operly install your D VD-RAM. ● Set dri ve’ s jumpers ● Connect audio cable ● Attach IDE BUS cable ● Connect power cable ● Mount D VD-RAM ● .
3 1. Remove computer cover and faceplate if required (refer to your computer system’ s man ual for remov al information). 2. If the D VD-RAM is replacing a CD-R OM, disconnect all connectors and re- mov e the CD-R OM presently installed in your system.
4 cable (side with red stripe) is connected to pin 1 on the drive. • If the D VD-RAM is the only drive connected on the secondary IDE BUS cable: connect drive to the last set of pins on IDE BUS cable. • If ther e is a device (i.e. CD-R OM) connected to the secondary IDE B US cable: connect D VD-RAM to the open middle connector .
5 COMPLETING INS T ALL A TION After you have connected all the necessary cables, push the D VD-RAM com- pletely into the computer’ s driv e slot. Mount the driv e per your computer’ s in- structions using the screws included in your kit. If you are using other screws, assure that the screw length does not exceed 3±0.
6 DVD-RAM FRONT PANEL The photo below illustr ates the following f eatures of the SD-W2002 DVD-RAM’ s front panel: Emer g enc y Eject Hole : The emergenc y eject hole is to be used only when the DV D tray will not open when the Load/Unload button is pressed.
7 OPER A TING THE DVD LOADING TR A Y T o open the D VD loading tray , just press the Load/Unload button. After inserting or removing a disc or recording cartridge, press the Load/Unload button again. Y ou must use a DVD-RAM recording cartridge when recor ding D VD-RAM media.
