This manual will provide you with the information you will need to install and operate your new CD-R OM. This manual cov ers both the internal CD-R OM (XM-6401B) and the external CD-R OM (TXM6401F1).
2 TOSHIBA XM-6401B/TXM6401F1 CD-ROM Drive SCSI DRIVES T he XM-6401B is a SCSI-2 (Small Computer Systems Inter- face) device. Some other SCSI devices you may already have connected to your computer are scanners, tape drives, or an- other CD-R OM dri ve.
TOSHIBA XM-6401B/TXM6401F1 CD-ROM Drive 3 Installing CD-R OM B efore you begin to install your CD-R OM, make sure you hav e the items listed below . In most cases, these items will not come with your CD-R OM. See your local computer re- tailer to purchase them.

CD-ROM JUMPER SETTINGS In order for your CD-R OM to work properly , it may be necessary for you to change the CD-R OM’ s jumper settings.

If you are “daisy- chaining” a series of SCSI devices (connecting more than one SCSI de vice to your system), and the XM-6401B CD-R OM is not at the end of the chain , you must remo ve the jumper .

The EJECT Inhibit Jumper must be set to OFF in order for the EJECT button to function. (If jumper is in ON postion, the drive accepts all eject contr ol fr om the computer).
