Y ou have a po werful but easy to use battery-operated valve controller that ts most common valves*. e SST comes with a DC-Latching solenoid attached, making connecting to your valve simple and easy .
2 Battery Installation Battery installation should take place before attaching the SST to a valve. If you hav e already attached the SST to a valve, you will need to detach it. 1. Place the SST face down. e battery compartment is sealed with four (4) screws.
3 * e included DC-latching solenoid is not compatible with Hunter® brand valv es. Use of the SST with Hunter valv es requires a H unter DC-latching solenoid (sold separately). Hunter is a trademark of H unter Industries. Attaching the SST to a Valve e SST includes a pre-wired DC-latching solenoid*.
4 LCD Overview 1. Low battery indicator . If the icon is ashing, the battery is low and should be changed. If the icon is solid, the controller will not operate. Replace the battery . 2. Set current time indicator 3. Digital display . Shows the curr ent time or run-time during programming.
5 Programming the SST Ev er y programming operation begins by pr essing the MODE button. A long press (>2 seconds) turns the controller o. A short press (<2 seconds) advances the controller through the dierent pr ogramming functions in the order that follows.
6 Set Clock 1. e icon shows. e hour number ( 12:00 or 00:00 depending on mode chosen above) will ash. P ress or to cycle to the correct hour . If in AM/PM mode, AM or PM will be set in Step 5. 2. Pr ess to enter selection. 3. e minute number ( 00:00 ) will ash.
7 Set Run Time 1. e icon shows. e default run time per program is 10 minutes. 2. Pr ess or to adjust the hours. Pr ess . 3. Pr ess or to adjust the minutes. 4. Pr ess once to set and advance to the next programming option. Set Start Time is setting has 4 possible start times to allow watering up to four times a day .

10 Manual Operation 1. T o turn on the valve manually , press and together . 2. e valve will run for the programmed run-time (page 8). 3. T o prematurely ST OP a manual operation, press and together . Stopping the Current Irrigation Cycle It is possible to stop the curr ent irrigation cycle.
11 Installing a Rain Sensor It is possible to connect a wir ed T oro® RainS ensor™ to the SST . Other normally closed sensors can be installed as well. Wir ed polarity is not observed for the sensor . 1. Cut the wire loop (y ellow) from the SST . (See F igure 1.
12 The Reset Button e Reset button resets the controller to erase all watering programs. 1. Remov e the batter y compartment lid and battery . 2. In the upper left corner , you will see a black button with a refresh symbol. U sing a screwdriver , press that button.
