10 Positioning the device Consider carefully where to install your Tom Tom navigation device in your car. The navigation device should not block o r interfere with any of the following : Your view.
11 8. Plug the USB car charger i nto the power supply on your dashboard. Your navigation device is now installed. The next st ep is to switch it on an d answer a few que s- tions. Switching on and off To switch on your navigat ion device, press and hol d the On/Off button until y ou see the start- up screen.
12 Setting up MyTomTom To set up MyTomTom, do the following: 1. Connect your computer t o the internet. 2. Start a browser and go to business.tomtom.com/getstarte d . 3. Click Download now . Your browser downloads the MyTomTom support application, which you n eed to install on your computer in order to connec t your device to MyTomT om.
13 If your device supports v oice control, you can als o drive more safely by us ing voice control t o control your navigation device. Device not starting In rare cases, your TomT om PRO navigation device m ay not start correctly or may stop respon d- ing to your taps.
14 TomTom uses this inform ation to be able t o deliver LIVE services to you an d to improve the HD Traffic service. Within twenty minutes of switching off your navigat ion device, TomTom aut omatically and irr e- versibly destroys any info rmation that allows identification of you or your device.
15 Getting help to use your navigation device You can get further help b y going to tomtom.com/supp ort . For warranty information, go t o tomtom.com/legal .
16 About truck navigation When planning a route f or a large vehicle such as a truck o r a bus, TomTom Truck Navigation helps you to avoid potenti al hazards such as low bri dges. Important : You must pay attention to all traffic signs , especially those relating to your vehicle’s dimensions and weight.
17 Vehicle weight and maximum weight per axle Vehicle length, height and width Vehicle maximum speed Hazardous materials (HA ZMAT) Note : You can't set this information if you selected Ca r as y our vehicle profile. The next time you plan a trip, a r oute that is suitable for your ve hicle will be calculate d.
18 If warnings are switched on and your destination i s located in a dead en d road, a warning me s- sage is shown after route planning. Before entering the dead end road, you ar e reminded by a warning icon shown in the Dri ving View so that you can reac t in time.
19 You can see blocked truc k routes in the map brows er, the route summary scr een and when ind i- cating a map correction on th e map..
20 Planning a route Important : In the interest of safety and to reduce d istractions while you are driving, you should always plan a route befor e you start driving. To plan a route on your T omTom PRO device, do the f ollowing: 1. Tap the screen to open th e Main Menu.
21 5. Enter the street name. Streets with similar name s are shown in the list whi le you type. When the correct street name appe ars in the list, tap th e name to select the destinat ion. 6. Enter the house number, then tap Done . 7. The location is shown on the m ap.
22 8. When the new route is sh own, tap Done . For more information ab out the route, tap Details . To change your route, for example, to travel via a particular location or to select a new destin a- tion, tap Change route . Your device starts to guide you to your destination, using spoken instructions and on-screen d i- rections.
23 To view LIVE summary information, tap the LIVE tab on the route summary s creen. Tap any of the panels for more detailed i nformation. The LIVE tab panels show the f ollowing information: Traffic on route - tap this panel to view detailed informat ion about traffic delays and other incidents on your route.
24 To take the alternative r oute, tap the balloon at the top of the screen. If you don't want to follow the alternative route, keep driving to continue to receive in structions for your ori ginal route. Tip: The alternative route disappears when it is n o longer faster than your original route or it is too late for you to choose it.
25 You can chose from the f ollowing when your vehicle profi le is Car . The types of route you c an choose from are as f ollows: Fastest route - the route which takes the least time. Eco route - the most fuel-eff icient route for your jo urney - only when you set your vehic le profile to Car .
26 To change this setting, d o the following: 1. Tap Start up in the Settings m enu and then select Ask for a destination . 2. Tap Yes , then tap Yes ag ain to begin entering inf ormation about the destin ation. 3. Select a symbol for the d estination and tap Done t o set the symbol, then tap Yes .
27 If the estimated arrival tim e is later than the time you entered, it is shown in red. Navigation menu options When you tap Navigate to or Dr ive to , you can set your destination in m any ways, not just by entering the address. The other options are listed below : Home Tap this button to navigat e to your Home location.
28 Latitude Longitude Tap this button to enter a dest ination using latitude and long itude values. Position of last stop Tap this button to select you r last recorded positio n as your destination. Lo cal search Tap this button to use Local Searc h with TomTom Plac es to help you find shops and businesses in and around your current locat ion.
29 Fastest route - the route which takes the least time. Eco route - the most fuel-eff icient route for your jo urney. Shortest route - the shortest distance between the loc ations you set. This may not b e the quickest route, especially if the shortest route is thr ough a town or city.
30 Show traffic on route Tap this button to see all the traffic incidents on yo ur route. Note : This button is only shown if your device h as either a traffic su b- scription or an RDS- TM C Receiver. Tra ffic information is not a vailable in all countries or regions .

32 Voice control - Navigate to About voice control No te : Voice control is not supporte d on all devices or in all languages. Instead of tapping the scr een to control your TomTom PRO device, you can use your voice to control your device. For example, to increase the vo lume on your device, you c an say "Increase volume".
33 Tip : For the best recognit ion of what you say, spea k normally without trying to articulate words in an unnatural way. If there is excessive road n oise, for example, you may need to speak in the direction of t he microphone. 3. If the command is correct, say "Y es.
34 For example, if the correct city is Rotterdam and th is town is shown at the thi rd item in the list, you can say, "Three" or ta p the name, Rotterdam . If the name is not in the list, then say "Back" or "No" or tap Back to return to the previous screen and say the town again when you hear the t one.
35 Your device starts to guide you to your destination, using spoken instructions and onscreen dire c- tions. Tip: In addition to plannin g a route using Voice control, you can tap Navigate t o in the Main menu and then tap Spoken Addre ss . Alternatively you can t ap the button at the bas e of the keyboard during address entry.
36 Voice control - Drive to About voice control Note : Voice control is not supported on all devices or in all languages. Instead of tapping the scr een to control your TomTom PRO device, you can use your voice to control your device.
37 For some phrases, your d evice repeats what you sa y and asks for confirmation. 38 If the town you hear is the same as the town you r equested then say, "Done" or "OK" or "Yes" or "One" or tap the town a t the top of the list. If the town you hear is incorrec t, but the correct town is in the li st, say the number next to the correct town or tap the name of the town.
39 When the number is sho wn correctly say, "Done" o r "OK." Alternatively, enter the number by tapping the screen. 6. When the route has been calculated and the route summary is shown, tap Done . Your device starts to guide you to your destination, using spoken instructions and onscreen dire c- tions.
40 About the Driving View When your TomTom PRO navigation device start s for the first time, you are shown the Driving View along with detailed information about your current p osition.
41 1. Zoom button - tap the ma gnifying glass to show buttons f or zooming in and out. 2. Quick menu - to enable the quick men u, tap Make your own m enu (page 69 ) in the Settin gs menu. If there are only one or tw o buttons in your men u, both buttons are shown in the Dri v- ing view.
42 About replanning settings Your TomTom PRO devic e helps you reach your de stination as quickly as possible b y showing you a faster alternative route when one is available . To change how you are a sked about alternative rou tes, tap Settings and then Route pla nning .
43 About lane guidance Note : Lane guidance is n ot available for all juncti ons or in all countries. Your PRO navigation device helps you prepare for motorwa y exits and junctions by sh owing the correct driving lane for y our planned route. As you approach an exit or junction, the lane you need is shown on the screen.
44 Tip : If no lane guidance is shown in the status bar and all lanes are highligh ted, you can use any lane..
45 Making changes to your route After you plan a route, yo u may want to change the route or even th e destination. There are var i- ous ways to change your route w ithout the need to complet ely replan the ent ire journey. To change the current rou te, tap Change route in the Main m enu: Change route Tap this button to change the current route.

47 Waypoints without notification - a wa ypoint that you are usin g to help guide your rou te, for example, you want to travel fr om Amsterdam to R otterdam using a certain highway. You are not notified when nearin g the waypoint. Adding the first waypoint to your route To add the first waypoint to your route, do the follo wing: 1.
48 Changing the order of waypoints Waypoints are automatica lly added in an optimised order but you can still change the order ma n- ually if you need to. T o change the order of w aypoints, do the follow ing: 1. Tap the screen to bring u p the Main menu.
49 The notification setting ch anges for your waypoint and you are immediately r eturned to your list of waypoints. Tip: If a waypoint has alr eady been visited, you ca nnot switch notification on or off. Reactivating a waypoint Note: You can only reac tivate a waypoint that has a lready been visited.
50 About viewing the map You can view the map in the same way as you might look at a tr aditional paper map. The map shows your current location an d many other locatio ns such as Favourites and POIs. To view the map in this way, tap View map or View route in the Main men u.
51 Red - points to your destin ation. Tap a marker to centre the map on the location point ed to by the marker. You can also set your own m arker. Tap the cursor button, then tap Set marker position to place a green marker at the c ursor position.
52 Cursor menu The cursor can be used t o do more than highlight a location on the map. Position the cursor on a location on the map, th en tap Cursor and then tap on e of the following buttons: Navigate there Tap this button to plan a r oute to the cursor positi on on the map.
53 Centre on map Tap this button to centre the m ap on the cursor positio n. Call... Note : Hands-free calling i s not supported on all de vices. Tap this button to call the location at the cursor po sition. This button is only available if y our PRO device ha s the phone number for the location.
54 About TomTom Map Share TomTom Map Share helps you c orrect map errors and share map correction s with the rest of the TomTom Map Share commun ity. To correct your map and share map c orrections with other Map Share users, tap Map corre ctions in the Services menu.
55 4. Select how you want t o select the location. 5. Select the location. Then tap Done . 6. Enter the details of the correction. Then tap Done . 7. Tap Send . The correction is saved. Correcting a truck map error There are some types of map corrections that specifical ly apply only to truc ks.
56 2. Tap Near you to select a street near your current l ocation. You can select a street by name, a street near your Home l ocation or a street on the map. 3. Select the street or sectio n of a street you want t o correct by tapping it on th e map. The street you select is highlight ed and the cursor shows the name of the street.
57 If multiple restrictions apply, tap Vie w all to see all the Northbound and Southboun d truck r e- strictions. Tap Back to continue. You can then choo se which restrictions are applicable f o r each direction as explained be low.
58 7. If you are changing a rest riction, select the applic able restriction and en ter the correct value. 8. Tap Yes or No to choose whether you want to apply the same restrict ion to the other side of the street. 9. Tap Done . The next time you connect you r device to MyTomTom, y our corrections are share d with the TomTom Map Share commun ity.
59 (Un)block street Tap this button to block o r unblock a street. You ca n block or unblock the street in one or both direc tions. For example, to correct a street ne ar to your current locati on, do the following: 1. Tap (Un)block stree t . 2. Tap Near you to select a street near your current l ocation.

61 Comment on POI Tap this button to enter a comment about a POI. Use this but ton if you cannot edit the error with the POI using the Edit PO I button.
62 About sounds and voices Your TomTom PRO devic e uses sound for some or all of the following: Driving directions and other route instructions Traffic information Note : To use a TomT om traffic information se rvice, you may need a su bscription or a recei v- er.
63 Tap the central panel on t he status bar and move th e slider to adjust the volu me. The last route instruction is played so you c an hear the new volu me level. In the Settings menu. Tap Settings in the Main men u, then tap Volume and mo ve the slider to adjust the volume.
64 About Settings You can change the way your T omTom PRO device looks and behaves. Most of the sett ings on your device can be acces sed by tapping Settings in th e Main menu. Note : Not all settings des cribed here are available o n all devices. 2D/3D settings 2D/3D settings Tap this button to set the default view of the map.
65 Show location preview - when this setting is selected, a g raphical preview of your destination is sh own during route planning. Enable automatic zooming in 2D vi ew - when this setting is s elected, the entire route is shown in the Driving View when the map is being shown in 2D.
66 Brightness Brightness Tap this button to set the brightness of the screen. Move the sliders to adjust the brightness level. To view the map and me nus in day or night colour s, tap Use day colours or Use night colours in the Sett ings menu.
67 map. Enable / Disable Bluetooth Enable Bluetooth Tap this button to enable Bluetooth ® . Disable Bluetooth Tap this button to disable Bluetooth ® . Enable / Disable flight mode Enable / Disable flight mode Tap this button to enable or disable flight mode.
68 GPS status GPS status Tap this button to see the current status of GPS rec eption on your d e- vice. Home location Home location Tap this button to set or change y our Home location. You enter the a d- dress in the same way as you do when you plan a route.
69 Language Language Tap this button to change the language used for all the buttons and me s- sages you see on your de vice. You can choose from a w ide range of languages. When you change the language, you are also given the opportunity to cha nge the voice.
70 Map colours Map colours Tap this button to select the c olour schemes for day an d night map co l- ours. Tap Search to search for a colour scheme by typing the name.
71 Network Network Tap this button on the Connecti ons menu to open the Conn ection status screen. This screen shows the connection status of your de vice. Operate left-handed / Operate right handed Operate left-handed / Operate right- handed Tap this button to make it easier for right- or left-ha nded operation.
72 Route planning Route planning Tap the Route planning button t o set the way your TomTom PRO calc u- lates the routes that you p lan. Tap the button for each option t o change the settin gs. Route types Set the type of route you want y our PRO to calculate.
73 Speaker Speaker Tap this button to select the lou dspeaker or loudspeaker c onnection that is used by your device. Start up Start up Tap this button to set wh at happens when your device st arts.
74 your MyTomTom account and activate the map. Tu rn off voice guidance / Turn on voice guidance Turn off Voice gui d- ance Tap this button to switch off voice guidance. You will no longer hear spoken route instructions but you will still hear inf ormation such as traffic information and warnings.
75 Voices Change voice Tap this button to change the voice that gives spoken directions and other route instructions. A wide range of voices ar e available. There are com puter voices which can read street names an d other information d irectly from the map and there are human voices which have been recorded by actors.
76 About Points of Interest Points of Interest or POIs are usef ul places on the map. Here are some examples: Restaurants Hotels Museums Parking garages Petrol stations Creating POIs Tip : For help on managin g third party POIs, search for "Third party POIs" at : tomtom.
77 Favourite Tap this button to create a POI from a Favourite. You might want to create a POI from a Favourite because you can only create a limited number o f Favourites. If you want t o create more Favou r- ites you need to delete s ome Favourites. To avoi d losing a Favourite, save the location as a POI before you delete the Fav ourite.
78 Local search Tap this button to use Local Searc h with TomTom Plac es to search for shops and businesses in and around your current locat ion. You can choose to searc h for shops and businesse s near you, near your destination, near any oth er destination or in a c ity.
79 1. Tap Show POI on map in the Settings menu. 2. Select the categories you want to be shown on the map. 3. Tap Done . 4. Select whether you want t o see POI locations in 2D and 3D views of the map. 5. Tap Done . The types of POI you h ave selected are shown as s ymbols on the map.
80 5. Select the warning sound for the POI and then tap Next . 6. If you only want to hear th e warning when the POI i s directly on a planned ro ute, select Warn only if POI is on route . Th en tap Done. The warning is set for the selecte d POI category.
81 About getting help Tap Help in the Main menu to navig ate to emergency services c entres and other speci alist se r- vices. If your device supports h ands-free calling and your ph one is connected to your device, you can contact emergency se rvices directly by phone.
82 Phone for help Tap this button to find the contac t details and loc ation of a service ce n- tre. Note : Hands-free calling i s not supported on all de vices. Drive to help Tap this button to navigat e your way by car to a s ervice centre. Walk to help Tap this button to navigat e your way on foot to a se rvice centre.
83 About hands-free calls Note : Hands-free calling i s not supported on all de vices. If you have a mobile phon e with Bluetooth ® , you can use your T omTom PRO device to ma ke phone calls and send and receive messages. Important : Not all phones are supported or compatible wi th all features.
84 Tap Phonebook entry to select a contact from your phone book. Note : Your phonebook i s automatically copied to your PRO device when you f irst establish a connection with your mobile ph one. Not all phones can transfer the ph onebook to your device.
85 Disable hands-free Tap this button to disable or enable hands-free calling. Call Tap this button to make a phone call. Change home nu m- ber Tap this button to change your h ome phone number. Delete Tap this button to select inf ormation you want to delete.
86 About Favourites Favourites provide an eas y way to select a location without the need to enter the ad dress. They do not need to be favourite places, the y can simply be seen as a collection of useful addr esses. Tip: If you have set-up any frequen t destinations, they are show n in your list of Favourites .

88 Using a Favourite You can use a Favourit e as a way of navigating to a place without having to enter the address. To navigate to a Favourite, d o the following: 1. Tap the screen to bring u p the Main menu. 2. Tap Navigate to or Drive to . 3. Tap Favourite .
89 About LIVE Services Note : LIVE services are only a vailable in designate d countries. For more inform ation on avail a- ble services in your count ry, go to business.tomtom.com/liveser vices . The following LIVE Servic es may be available f or your device.
90 3. Tap Yes . The renewal request is se nt to TomTom. You should compl ete payment onlin e, on or before the date shown on your device. Renewing your LIVE Servi ces subscription using the TomTom website 1. Go to business.tomtom.c om/getstarted to install th e TomTom driver, if it's n ot already i n- stalled, and start using My TomTom.
91 4. Type 'supermarket' then tap OK . The locations that match your sea rch are shown in a list with th eir distance from your cur rent location and rating. 5. Tap one of the locations in the list. The location is shown on the map. Tap Show info to see mo re information about this l ocation.
92 Your TomTom PRO devic e tells you when your LIVE Service s subscriptions are due for renewal. You can use your device t o tell TomTom that you w ish to renew your current subscription. For more information ab out LIVE Services subscri ption and payment term s, go to tomtom.
93 About traffic information You can receive traffic inform ation in two ways: TomTom HD Traffic Traffic Message Channel (RDS-TM C) Using traffic information, your TomTom PRO devic e can automatically adjus t your route to min i- mise any delays.
94 The top of the traffic side bar represents your desti nation and shows the total time delay due t o traffic jams and other incidents on your route. The central section of the traffic sidebar shows indiv idual traffic incidents in the order they occur on your route.
95 The new route may include traffic delays. You can replan the route to avoid all traffic d elays, but a route which avoids all delays w ill usually take longer th an the fastest route. 4. Tap Done . Minimising delays You can use TomTom H D Traffic to minimise the i mpact of traffic delays on your route.
96 Note : The home location you set here is not the sa me as the home location you can set in the Settings Menu . In addition, the locations you use here d o not have to be your actual home and work locations. If there is another route that you often tra vel, you can set Wo rk/Home to use these locations instead.
97 Note : You can also access the Show traffic on route screen by tapping the tr affic area of the LIVE Route summary ta b. Tap the left and right arrow buttons to move throug h each incident in turn, viewing the details of each one. This includes th e type of incident, for exa mple road works, and the length of delay caused by this incident.
98 A screen is shown that gi ves you detailed inform ation about the incident y ou chose. To display information about surroun ding incidents use the left and right arrows at the b ottom of this screen. Changing traffic settings Use the Traffic settings button t o choose how traffic inf ormation works on your na vigation device.

100 Show home-work traffic Tap this button to calcula te the quickest route from your home location to your place of work and back. Show traffic on route Tap this button for an overview of traffic incidents along y our route. Tap the left and right but tons for more detailed inf ormation about each incident.
101 About Speed Cameras Note : LIVE Services are not a vailable in all countrie s or regions, and not all LI VE Services are available in all countries or regions. You may be a ble to use LIVE Services wh en travelling abroad. For more inform ation on available services, go to tomt om.
102 Reporting a danger zone Tap this button to report a danger zone. A confirm ation screen appears. Tap Yes to confirm the d anger zone. A Thank you icon is sh own on the screen. The location is re ported to TomTom and s hared with other Da n- ger Zone users.
103 4. Tap Fixed cameras . 5. Select whether you always want to be warned or only when you are speeding. Select Never to turn off the warning. 6. Tap the sound you want t o be used for the warning. 7. Tap Next . The warning sound you s elected is now set for f ixed speed cameras.
104 Traffic light camera - this type of c amera checks for vehic les breaking traffic rules at traffic lights . Average speed check - th ese types of cameras me asure your average speed between two points. You are warned at the start and end of the average speed check are a.
105 Other camera Report button To show the report button in the Driving View, do the f ollowing: 1. Tap Services in the Main Menu. 2. Tap Speed Cameras .
106 Note : It's possible to report or confirm the location of Dang er Zones , but it's not possi ble to r e- move them. Reporting incorrect camera alerts You may receive an alert for a camera that is no lon ger there.
107 Intermediate warning - type 1 Once in the speed check zone, if you are not speeding and h ave already received a start of zone w arning, you see a visua l warning in the Driving View.
108 Enable report bu t- ton Tap this button to enable the report button . The report button is shown in the Driving View or in the quick menu. When the report button i s shown in the Driving View , this button chan g- es to Disable report butto n .
109 About Weather Note : Only available on LI VE devices. The TomTom Weather service pro vides detailed weather rep orts and 5-day weather fore casts for towns and cities. The information is p rovided by lo cal weather stations and is up dated hourly.
110 Home Tap this button to select you r Home location. Favourite Tap this button to select a Favo urite location. Address Tap this button to enter a n address. Recent destination Tap this button to select a loc ation in a list of recently use d destinations.

112 About MyTomTom MyTomTom helps you m anage the contents and s ervices of your TomTom PRO na vigation d e- vice, as well as giving you access to the TomTom commun ity. You log in to MyT omTom on the TomTom website. It is a good i dea to frequently co nnect your navigation device to MyTomTom to ensure you always have t he latest updates.
113 Once the MyTomTom support application is installed, y ou can access MyTomTom fr om the notif i- cation area on your deskt op. Tip : When you connect y our navigation device to y our computer, MyTomTom tells you if there are any updates for your device.
