8 Installing in your car Your TomT om GO LIVE navigation device has an integrated m ount. See the printed ins tallation instructions included with your product f or more information. 1. Make sure that bot h the suction cup on your mount and your windshield are clean and dry.
9 Tip : W e recommend using a broadband internet connection when ever you connect your navigation device to M y TomT om. Setting up MyTomTom To set up M y TomT om, do the following: 1. Connect your com puter to the internet. 2. Start a browser and go to tom tom.
10 Charging your device The batter y in your TomTom GO LIVE navigation device charges when you connect it to the car charger or to your com puter. Important : You sho uld plug the USB con nector directly into a U SB port on your com puter a nd not into a USB hub or USB p ort on a k eyboard or monitor.
11 Positioning the mount Consider carefull y where to attach the m ount in your car. T he mount should not b lock or interfere with any of the following: Your view of the roa d Any of the cont.
12 Planning a route Important : In the interest of s afety and to reduce distractions whi le you are drivin g, you should alwa ys plan a route before you start driving. To plan a route on your TomT om GO LIVE, do the following : 1. Tap the screen to open t he Main Menu.
13 W hen the correct street nam e appears in the list, tap the nam e to select the destinati on. 6. Enter the house num ber, then tap Do ne . 7. The location is sho wn on the m ap.
14 To change your route, for example, to tra vel via a particular locati on or to select a new destin ation, tap Change route . Your TomT om GO LIVE starts to guide you to your destination, usi ng spoken instr uctions and on - screen directions.
15 To view LIVE summ ary information, tap t he LIVE tab o n the route summ ary screen. Tap any of the panels for m ore detailed inform ation. The LIVE tab pane ls show the following inform ation: Traffic on route - tap this panel to view deta iled information a bout traffic dela y s and oth er incidents on your route.
16 To tak e the alternative route, tap the balloon at the top of the screen. If you don't want to f ollow the alternative route, k eep driving to cont inue to receive instr uctions for your original r oute. Ti p: The alternative route disappears when it is n o longer faster than your original route or it is too late for you to choose it.
17 Frequent destinations If you often mak e trips to the sam e destinations, you can set your TomT om GO LIVE to ask if you want to plan a route t o one of these locations every time the de vice starts. This is f aster than planning a route in the norm al way.
18 You can also use th is inform ation to work out when you need to leave. If your GO LIVE shows that you will arrive 30 m inutes early, you can wait an d leave in 30 m inutes time, rather than arri ve early. Your arrival tim e is constantly recalculated d uring your trip.
19 Point of Interest Tap this button to n avigate to a Point of Interest (POI). Postcode Tap this button to enter a ZIP code as a destination. In some countries, t he zip code can be used to identify the place and s treet. In other countries, the zip code only ident ifies the place , so you need to enter the street name separat ely.
20 1. Tap the screen to bring up the Main m enu. 2. Tap the arrow button t o move to the n ext menu screen and tap Plan route . This button is shown while there is no planne d route on your GO LIVE . 3. Select the starting poi nt for your trip in t he same way that you would select your destination.
21 Show route summary Tap this button to ope n the route summ ary screen. Show destination Tap this button to see a preview of your destination. You can navigate t o a parking lot n ear your destination, and v iew any available inform ation about your destination , for exam ple, the phone num ber.
22 A bout voice control Instead of tapping th e screen to control your T omTom GO LIVE, you can use your voice to co ntrol your GO LIVE. For exam ple, to increase the volume on your GO LIVE, you can say "Increase volum e" or "Volume 50%.
23 Tip : For the best reco gnition of what you say, speak norm ally without trying to artic ulate words in an unnatural wa y. If there is excess ive road noise, for exam ple, you ma y need to s p eak in the direction of the m icrophone. 3. If the comm and is correct, say "Yes.

27 A bout lane guidance Note : Lane guidance is not available for a ll junctions o r in all countries. Your TomT om GO LIVE helps you prepare for highway exits and junctions b y showing the correct driving lane for your p lanned route. As you approach an ex it or junction, the la ne you need is s ho wn on the screen.
28 Making changes to your route After you plan a rou te, you m ay want to change t he route or even the des tination. There are vario us ways to change your route without the nee d to completel y replan the entire trip. To change the current route, tap Chang e route in th e Main menu: Change route Tap this button to cha nge the current r oute.
29 Change destinatio n Tap this button to cha nge the current desti nation. W hen y ou change the destination, you are shown the sam e options and ask ed to enter the new a ddress in the same wa y as when you plan a new r oute. Avoid part of route Tap this button to avo id part of the current route.
30 Tip: You can also ta p View map and then tap T ravel via in the curs or menu. If your device supports Voice contr ol, you also speak commands to add wa ypoints. 4. Choose the location f or your wa ypoint from a choice of Hom e, Favorite, Address, Recent destination, POI or you can perform a searc h.
31 Tip: You cannot m ove an unvisited waypoint into a list of already visited wa ypoints. Deleting a waypoint To delete a wa ypoint, do the following: 1. Tap the screen to bring up the Main Menu. 2. Tap Change route . 3. Tap T ravel via . You see a list of your waypoints.
32 A bout vie wing the map You can view the m ap in the sam e way as you m ight look at a traditional paper m ap. The m ap shows your current location and many other loc ations such as Favor ites and POIs. To view the map in th is way, tap View map or View route in the Main m enu.
33 To turn m arkers off, tap Option s , then Advanced and clear the M arkers checkbox. 4. Options button 5. The cursor with street name balloon Tap the button in th e street name balloon to open the cursor m enu. You can navigate to th e cursor position, m ake a Favorite of the cursor position, or find a P oint of Interest near the cursor position.
34 Set marker position Tap this button to creat e your own green m arker and place it at the cursor position. If a green mark er exists, this button changes to Del ete marker . Find POI nearb y Tap this button to find a POI near the curs or position on the m ap.
35 A bout Map Share Map Share helps you correct m ap errors. You can corr ect several types of m ap error. To make c orrections to your own m ap, tap Map corr ections in the Settings m enu. Note : Map Share is no t available in all regi ons. For more inform ation, go to tom tom.
36 (Un)block street Tap this button to block or unblock a street. You can block or unblock the street in one or b oth directions. For exam ple, to correct a street near to your current location, do the following: 1. Tap (Un)block street . 2. Tap Near you to se lect a street near your current location.
37 Change turn restrictions Tap this button to cha nge and report incorr ect road turn res trictions. Change road speed Tap this button to cha nge and report the roa d speed lim it. Add or remove rotary Tap this button to add or rem ove a rotary. Add missing POI Tap this button to add a new Point of Interest (POI).
38 Correct house number Tap this button to corr ect the location of a house number. Ent er th e address that you wish to correct a nd then indicate on th e map the correct loc ation of that house num ber. Existing street Tap this button to edit an existing street.
39 A bout sounds a nd voices Your TomT om GO LIVE uses sound for som e or all of the following: Driving directions and oth er route instructi ons Traffic inform ation W arnings that you se.
40 2. Tap Volume . 3. Select Link volume to c ar speed t o automaticall y adjust the volume inside the c ar in response to changes in the speed of your dri ving.
41 A bout Settings You can change the way your TomT om GO LIVE looks and behaves. Most of the settings on your device can be acces sed by tapping Settings i n the Main menu. 2D/3D settings 2D/3D settings Tap this button to set the def ault view of the m ap.
42 A dvanced s ettings Advanced settings Tap this button to se lect the following advanced settings: Show hou se number before street nam e - when this setting is se lected, addresses are sho wn with the house num ber followed b y the street name, such as 10 Downin g Street.
43 Change car symbol Change car symbol Tap this button to se lect the car symbol that sho ws your current locati on in the Driving view. Home location Home location Tap this button to set or change your Hom e location . You enter the address in the same wa y as you do when you plan a rou te.
44 Make your own menu Make your own menu Tap this button to add up to six buttons to your own pers onalized menu. If there are onl y one or two buttons in your menu, both butto ns are shown in the Driving view. If you have three or m ore buttons in your menu, then a single butto n is shown in the Driving view which opens you r menu when tapped.
45 Manage POIs Manage POIs Tap this button to m anage your own Point of Interest (POI) categories and locations. You can set your GO LIVE to let you know when you are near to selected POI locations. For exam ple, you could set the d evice to let you k now when you are approaching a gas stat ion.
46 Phone settings Phone settings Tap this button on the Connections menu to open th e phone settings m enu. Fo r more inform ation on connecting your phone and making hands -f ree calls, see Hands-Free calling . Route planning Route planning Tap the Route planning button to set the wa y your TomTom GO LIVE calculates the routes tha t you plan.
47 Carpool lanes are som etimes k nown as High Occupanc y Vehicle Lanes and are n ot present in ever y country. To travel on th ese lanes, you m ay need to have m ore than one person in the car, f or example, or the car m ay need to use env ironmentall y-friendl y fuel.
48 Show POI on map Show POI on map Tap this button to se lect the types of Point of Interes t (POI) you want to s ee on the map. 1. Tap Show POI on map in the S ettings m enu. 2. Select the POI categ ories you want to be shown on the m ap. Tap Search and use the keyboard to s earch for a categor y name.
49 Status bar Status bar Tap this button to se lect the inform ation you want to see on the status bar: Horizontal - s how the status bar at the b ottom of the D riving view. Vertical - sho w the status bar on the right -hand side o f the Driving vie w.
50 Use night colors / Use day colors Use night colors Tap this button to re duce the brightnes s of the screen and disp lay the map in darker colors. W hen driving at night or when driving throu gh a dark tunnel, it is easier to view the screen and less d istracting for the driver if the brightness of the scr een is dimmed.
51 A bout Points of Intere st Points of Interest or POIs are useful places o n the m ap. Here are some exam ples: Restaurants Hotels Museums Parking garages Gas stations Creating POIs Tip : For help on m anaging third part y POIs, see: tom tom.
52 Favorite Tap this button to creat e a POI from a Favor ite. You might want to crea te a POI from a Favorite because you can only create a limited num ber of Favorites. If you want to create m ore Favorites you need to delete some Favor ites. To avoid losing a Favorite, sav e the location as a POI before you delete the Fa vorite.
53 Spoken address Tap this button to creat e a POI b y saying the address. Local search Tap this button to use Local Search with Goog le to search f or stores and businesses in and aroun d your current location. You can choose to s earch for stores and busi nesses near you, near your destination, near an y other destination or in a city.
54 Showing POIs on the map You can select the t ypes of POI locations you want to see on your maps. 1. Tap Show POI on map in the Sett ings menu. 2. Select the categories you want to be sho wn on the map. 3. Tap Done . 4. Select whether you want to see POI locatio ns in 2D and 3D views of the map.
55 6. If you only want to hear th e warning when the POI is directly on a plan ned route, select W arn only if POI is on route . T hen tap Done. The warning is set for th e selected POI category. You will h ear a warning sound when you are 250 yards from a gas station on your route.
56 A bout getting help Tap Help in the Ma in menu to navigate t o emergenc y services centers and oth er special services . If your device supports h ands-f ree calling and your phon e is connected to your device, you can cont act emergenc y services direct ly by phone.

58 A bout hands-free calls If you have a mobi le phone with Bluetoot h ® , you can us e your TomTom GO LIVE to make phone cal ls and send and recei ve messages.
59 Tap Recently dialed to select fr om a list of people or num bers you have called recentl y using your GO LIVE. Tap Recent caller to select from a list of people or n um bers that called you recentl y. Only calls you have rec eived on your GO LI VE are saved in this l ist.
60 Change home number Tap this button to cha nge your home phone n umber. Delete Tap this button to se lect inform ation you want to delete. You can de lete the list of recent callers and the list of recentl y dialed numbers. Auto-answer settings Tap this button to cha nge the au to -answer settings.
61 A bout Fa vorites Favorites provide an easy way to select a locatio n without the need to enter the address . They do not need to be favorite pl aces, the y can simply be seen as a collection of usef ul addresses. Tip: If y ou have set-up any frequent destinati ons, the y are shown in your list of Fa vorites.
62 Point of Interest If you visit a POI you particularly like, for exam ple a restaurant, you can add it as a Favorite. My location Tap this button to add your curr ent location as a Favorite. For exam ple, if you stop som ewhere interesting, while you are there you can tap this button to create t he Favorite.

65 Renewing your LIV E Services subsc ription using t he TomTo m website 1. Go to tomtom .com/getstarted to install the TomT om driver, if it's not alread y installed, and start using MyTomT om. 2. W hen prompted, connect your device to your com puter using the USB cable.

67 To make the traff ic sidebar m ore readable some incidents m ay not be shown. The se incidents will always be of m inor importance and onl y cause short dela ys. The color of the pointers , as shown below, g ives you an instant indication of the t ype of incident: Unknown or undeterm ined situation.
68 Your device plans the qu ickest r oute to your destinatio n. The new route m ay include traff ic delays and may rem ain the same as the orig inal route. You can re-plan the route to avoid all de lays, but this route is un likely to be the quick est possible route.

70 Checking traffic incidents in your area Get an overview of the traffic situation in your area, using the m ap. To find local inc idents and their details, do the follo wing: 1. Tap the traff ic sidebar then tap O ptions to open t he Traff ic menu. 2.
71 There are two t ypes of incident and warning s igns: Symbols shown i n a red square are traf fic incidents. Your navigat ion device can repl an to avoid them. Symbols shown in a re d triangle are weather re lated. Your device does n ot replan to avoid these warnings.
