10 Tip : We recommend usin g a broadband inter net conn ection whenever you co nnect your nav i- gation device to MyTomTom. Setting up MyTomTom To set up MyTomTom , do the following: 1. Connect your compu ter to the internet. 2. Start a browser and go to tomtom.
11 If your device suppor ts voice control, you can also dr ive more saf ely by using v oice control to control your navigation de vice. Device not starting In rare cases, your Tom Tom navigation devic e may not start corr ectly or may stop responding to your taps.
12 TomTom uses this infor mation to be abl e to de liver LIVE services to you and to improve the HD Traffic service. Within twenty minutes of switching off your navi gation device, TomTom automatically and i rr e- versibly destroys any inf ormation that allows i dentification of you or your devi ce.

14 Planning a route Important : In the in terest of safety and to reduce distractions while you are driving, you shou ld always plan a route bef ore you start driving. Important : If you are usi ng a TomTom cam per and tr avel trailer home product, before planning a route you should set up your devic e for your vehicle.
15 When the correct city or town appears in the list, tap the name to select the destination. 5. Enter the street name. Streets with similar names are shown in the l ist while you type. When the correct street name appears in the list, tap the name to select the destination.
16 Tip : If you want your final destination to be a car park, tap Car par k and select a location from the list of car parks close to your general destina tion. 8. When the new rou te is shown, tap Do ne . For more infor mation about the route, tap Details .

18 Your TomTom device he lps you reach your destinat ion as quickly as possible by showing you a faster alternative route when one is available. To take the alternative r oute, tap the ball oon at the top of the screen.
19 Note : You can only ch oose to be asked about the t ype of r oute when you select a car as your vehicle. The types of route y ou can choose f rom are as follows: Fastest route - the route which takes the least time. Eco route - the most fue l-eff icient route for your trip.
20 To change this setting, do the following: 1. Tap Start up in the Settings menu and then s elect Ask for a d estination . 2. Tap Yes , then tap Yes again to begin e ntering inform ation about the des tination. 3. Select a symbol for the de stination and tap Don e to set the symbol, then tap Y es .
21 If the estimated arrival time is later than the time you entered, it is shown in red. Navigation menu options When you tap Navig ate to or Drive to , you can set y our destination in m any ways, not jus t by entering the address. 22 Position of last stop Tap this button to sel ect your last recorde d position as your destin ation. Planning a route in advance You can use your Tom Tom device to plan a rou te in advance , selecting your st arting point and your destination.
23 Your device uses IQ Routes to work out the best possi ble route at that time. Th is is useful to see how long a trip takes at different times of the day or on differ ent days of the week. Your navigation devic e plans the route be tween the two locations you selected.
24 About voice control Note : Voice control is no t supported on all de vices or in all languages. Instead of tapping the scr een to control y our Tom Tom device, you can u se your voice to control your device. For example, to increase t he volume on your devic e, you can say "Incre ase volume" or "V olume 50%.
25 A green bar means the de vic e can hear your voice. A red bar means your voice is too loud f or the device to recogni ze individual words. A gray bar means your v oice is too quiet for the de vice to recognize individual words. For some phrases, your device repe ats what you say and as ks for confirmation.

Your TomTom navi gation device helps you prepare for highway e xits and junct ions by showing the correct driving lane f or your planne d route. As you approach an e xit or junction , the lane you need i s shown on the screen .

32 Making changes to your route After you plan a route, yo u may want to ch ange the route or e ven the destinati on. There are var i- ous ways to change your route withou t the need to c ompletely replan the entir e trip. To change the curre nt route, tap C hange route in the Main menu: Change route Tap this button to change the current route.

34 Waypoints withou t notification - a waypoint that you are using to hel p guide your route, for example, you want to tra vel from Ams terdam to Rotterdam using a ce rtain highway. You ar e not notified when nearing the waypoi nt. Adding the first waypoint to your route To add the first wayp oint to your route, do the following: 1.
35 Changing the order of waypoints Waypoints are automa tically added in an optimized orde r but you can s till change the orde r ma n- ually if you need to. T o change the order of waypoints, do the f ollowing: 1. Tap the screen to brin g up the Main menu.
36 The notification setting ch anges for your wa ypoint and you are i mmediately returne d to your list of waypoints. Tip: If a waypoint h as already been visi ted, you cannot switch notification on or off. Reactivating a waypoint Note: You can only r eactivate a waypoin t that has already bee n visited.
37 About viewing the map You can view the m ap in the same way as you might look a t a traditional pape r map. The map shows your current loca tion and many o ther locations suc h as Favorites and POI s. To view the map in this way, tap Vi ew map or Vi ew route in the Main menu.

51 Home location Home location Tap this button to set or c hange your Hom e location. You e nter the a d- dress in the same way as you do when you plan a route. Your Home location pr ovides an easy w ay to plan a r oute to an important location. For most people, your H ome location wil l be your home addr ess.

56 Important : The speed l imit is shown ne xt to your cu rrent speed. If you drive faster than the speed limit, you see a w arning indicator in the status bar, for example the statu s bar pane turns red. Information about spe ed limits is not availa ble for all roads.
57 Units Units Tap this button to set the units used on your devic e for features such as route planning. Use night colors / Use day colors Use night colors Tap this button to re duce the brightness of the screen and display the map in darker colors.
58 Toll roads, Ferries, Ca rpool lanes and Unpav ed roads settings Set how your TomTom s hould manage each of the se road features when the device calculates a route. Carpool lanes are some times known as High Occupancy Vehi cle Lanes and are not pr esent in every country.
59 What to say Tap this button to see a list of commands you can say when usi ng voice control. Volume Volume Tap this button to set the volume level for your device.

61 Favorite Tap this button to cr eate a POI from a Favorite. You might want to cr eate a POI from a Favorite because you can only create a limited number of Favorites. If you w ant to cre ate more Favorites you need to delete som e Favorites. To avoid losing a Favorite, save the location as a POI bef ore you delete the Favori te.
62 Using POIs to plan a route When you plan a rou te, you can use a POI for the destination. The following example sh ows how to plan a route to a parking lo t in a city: 1. Tap Navigate to or Drive to in the M ain menu. 2. Tap Point of Inter est . 3.

65 About getting help Tap Help in the Main menu to navigate t o emergency se rvices centers and oth er special servic es. If your device suppor ts hands -free calling and your phone is conne cted to your de vice, you can contact emergency se rvices directly by phone.

81 The top of the traffic s idebar represents you r destination and sho ws the total time delay due to traf fic jams an d other inc idents on your route. The central section of the traffic s idebar shows individual traff ic incidents in the order they occur on your route.
82 The new route may in clude traffic de lays. You can replan the r oute to avoid all traff ic delays, but a route which avoids all delays wil l usually take longer than the fastest route. 4. Tap Done . Minimizing delays You can use TomTom HD Traffic to mi nimize the impac t of traffic delays on yo ur route.
