4 Welcome This Reference Guid e explains everyt hing you need to kno w about your new To mTom Bandit. Using your TomTom Bandit yo u can easily recor d your action adve ntures by doing t he followin g: Record videos. Automatically and ma nually add highlights to yo ur videos.

7 Charging your TomTom Bandit You can charge you r TomTom Bandit in the fo llowing two wa ys: Charging the Batt -Stick using a USB so cket Important : If you r emove the Batt -Stick or lens co ver be extra caref ul not to let dirt or wa ter enter the TomTom Bandit or the Batt -Stick.
8 4. When the Batt- Stick is charged, insert the Batt -Stick into the Tom Tom Bandit an d turn clockwise it until it locks. Charging the TomT om Bandit using the o ptional power cable 5. Open the connecto r cap on the back of the Batt -Stick. Tip : You don't have to r emove the Batt -Stick from t he TomTom Ba ndit.
9 Inserting a memory card The photos you tak e and the videos yo u record are stored o n a microSD card t hat is located in the Batt-Stick. Use a mi croSD card that i s a Class 10 s tandard or higher. Go to tomtom.com/ support for a list of approved compa tible microSD ca rds.
10 3. Insert the Batt-Stick into the Tom Tom Bandit and turn it until it locks. Setting up Note : The language yo u choos e will be used for all te xt on the screen. Yo u can always change the language later in La nguage an d Units in the Setti ngs menu.
11 Installing the basic mount The basic mount kit l ets you mount you r TomTom Bandit on a helmet or other f lat or slightly cu rved surface. Flat and c urved basic mounts are s upp lied. Tip : Additional mounts are available as access ories. Tip : To install your TomTo m Bandit on han dlebars, use the opti onal bike mount .

13 Installing the 360 pitch mount The 360 pitch mou nt kit lets you mount your TomTo m Bandit on a helmet o r other flat or sligh tly curved surface. Flat an d curved mount bases a re sup plied. Once installed, yo u can easily adj ust the direction and angl e of your TomTom Bandit.

Push the mount base firmly dow n on to the surface. The mount base won 't securely attach if yo u install it in damp a nd cold conditio ns.
15 6. Install the TomTom Bandit on the 36 0 pitch mount. M ake sure the TomTom Band it is secure. 7. Adjust the positio n of the TomTom Bandit, t hen push the pitch mount lever to t he closed position to lock the pit ch mount. Tip : Use the Mobile app live vi ewfinder to set t he TomTom Bandit to the correc t view.
16 Switching on you r TomTom Bandit Press the START b utton at the back of the TomTom Bandit fo r 2 seconds to swi tch your TomTom Bandit on. The TomTom logo is shown, and t he red LEDs flash and yo u hear the start -up so und.
17 Start recording When your TomTom Ba ndit is swi tched on or in stand by mode, press the S TART button to start recording in your c urrently selected mode , for example video re cording or photo burst . You can also start recording using the optional remo te control , or using th e Mobile app .
18 To manually highlight whi le recording a video, press the STAR T button on the TomTom Bandit or t he remote control , or the highlight butto n on the Mo bile app . If you are using the Tom Tom Bandit witho ut the Mobile app , when you have ma nually added a highlight, the scre en shows a sta r symbol and the mess age New highlight .
19 Getting started Before you start maki ng videos, it's a good idea to charge your Tom Tom Bandit, then download any software updates a nd download QuickG PSfix. You can download so ftware updates and Q uickGPSfix using the Mo bile app . Note : QuickGPSfix helps your TomTom Ba ndit get a GPS fix and find your locatio n quickly.

21 What's on the screen The TomTom Bandit s creen lets you s elect the type of video or photo you wa nt to record, and lets you change the setti ngs for each video a nd photo mode. You move to other scre ens using the control button by doi ng the followi ng: Move up or down to se lect items i n a menu.
22 Charging the Batt -Stick using a USB so cket Important : If you r emove the Batt -Stick or lens co ver be extra caref ul not to let dirt or wa ter enter the TomTom Bandit or the Batt -Stick. Only remov e the Batt -Stick or lens cove r in clean a nd dry conditions.
23 Charging the TomT om Bandit using the o ptional power cable 1. Open the connecto r cap on the back of the Batt -Stick. Tip : You don't have to r emove the Batt -Stick from t he TomTom Ba ndit. 2. Connect the powe r cable to the Batt -Stick conne ctor and to a USB s ocket.
24 1. Press the Batt -Stick release button, th en turn the Ba tt-Stick a nti-clockwis e and pull it out of the TomTom Bandit. 2. Insert the microSD ca rd into the memory card slot i n the Batt -Stick . Important : The mic roSD card m ust be inserted wit h the contacts fa cing up.
25 3. Insert the Batt-Stick into the Tom Tom Bandit and turn it until it locks. Video and Photo modes and settings Each video and photo mo de has its own s ettings . TomTom Bandit modes Select a mode direct ly on the TomTom Ba ndit or from the Mo bile App .
26 Timelapse When in TIMELAPSE MOD E, the TomTom Bandit record s a time-lapse video directly as a video r ecording at the cur rently set reso lution and at the normal frame rate.

28 Version - the softwa re version number of your TomTo m Bandit. You may ne ed this informati on if you contact Custome r Support. Serial number - The serial number of your TomTom Ba ndit. Switching your TomTom Bandit on and off Your TomTom Bandit can be on, off , or in standby.
29 The TomTom Bandit s witches off af ter two hours in standby. Connecting to the Mobile app The Mobile app wi ll not start until you have connecte d your smartphone to yo ur TomTom Ban dit using Wi - Fi . Tip : For iOS only. If your s martphone is B luetooth Smart (BL E) capable, Wi -Fi is switched on and off automatica lly by the M obile app .
30 QuickGPSfix contains i nformation about sa tellite positio ns which helps your Tom Tom Bandit find your position faster. Tip : QuickGPSFix informati on is stored in a separate f older from you r videos and photos . Caring for your TomTom Bandit It is recommended that you clean yo ur camera once a week if you use it f requently.

33 Important : Make su re your TomTom Ba ndit is secure before you start ev ery activity. Regula rly check the security of the mount. If th e activity involv es shocks or vibration, us e a lanya rd to prevent loss of the Tom Tom Bandit if the mo unt fails.
34 1. Before you instal l a mount, find the best position for yo ur TomTom Bandit . Attach the mo unt only to a s mooth and hard surface . The mount won't s ecurely attach to porous, textured o r soft surfaces.
35 5. Install the 360 pit ch mount on the mo unt base. Push d own the TomTom Ba ndit plate to lock t he pitch mount o n the base. 6. Install the TomTom Bandit on the 36 0 pitch mount.
36 Using the bike mount The optional bike mou nt kit lets you mo unt your Tom Tom Bandit on th e handlebars of a bik e or other tube-shape d component of a similar size.
37 Follow these tips to ma ke sure the bike mount is secure:.
38 Install the bike mo unt only to a clean and dry surface . Wax, oil, dirt and mo is ture wil l reduce grip, causing the mou nt to move. Tighten the bike mo unt clamps secure ly by hand. Do not use tools to tur n the clamps o r you might damage the bike mount.
39 Using the remote control to recor d a movie To wake up the r emote control, press th e START butt on (button 2) for 3 secon ds until th e LED (3) flashes green two ti mes. Press the START b utton (button 2) to s tart recording. The LED (3) flashes red wh en the camera i s recording.
40 To remove the lens cov er, press the releas e button and tur n the lens cover anti clockwise. To install a lens cover , put the lens cover o n the TomTom Ba ndit lens and turn i t clockwise unti l it locks. Important : Store t he lens cover in its s torage bag wh en you are not using it .
41 Important : Clea n the lens cov er and the lens using a cloth and spray s pecifically made for c leaning camera lenses. Important : Check th e lens cover an d Batt-Stick seals for debris , damage and crac ks. Small debris and cracks can ca use leakage and may damage your T omTom Bandit.
42 Adding sensors About sensors Sensors are used by your TomTom Ba ndit to record da ta simultaneously with your video, audio o r photos. This makes it ea sier for you to fi nd the highlights in th e video when revie wing it. There are two ty pes of sensors fo r your TomTom Ba ndit - built -in sensors and e xternal sensors.
43 1. Attach the mo nitor to the stra p. 2. Attach the strap a round your chest , so the monitor sits just above the base of your chest bone. Make sure the monito r is the right way up so that the word 'Tom Tom' is the right wa y up for someone standing in fro nt of yo u.
44 The first time your TomTo m Bandit t ries to connect to yo ur monitor, if it finds more than one monitor, your TomTom Bandit does n't know which m onitor to connect to. Mo ve to a place w here there are no other monitors wi thin range of your TomTom Bandit .
45 About recording videos You can use your Tom Tom Bandit to r ecord videos in the fol lowing modes: VIDEO - Use this mod e to record norma l high-q uality videos. SLOW MO - This mod e records slow -motion videos at high-qua lity. TIMELAPSE - This mo de creates videos f rom time -lapse recordings ta ken at set i ntervals.
46 Video highlights Highlights are adde d to your video while you ar e recording a v ideo. A highlight marks an exciting part of your action vid eo, for example a hig h speed, a jump or even a bea utiful view, that yo u might like to view late r and add to yo ur video story.
47 About taking photos You can use your Tom Tom Bandit to take photos in the following mo des: Normal - A single p hoto is taken. Burst - A series of photos are taken in a ve ry short time. You can select t he mode u sing the control butto n on the TomTom Ban dit, or you can use t he Mobile app .
48 The TomTom Bandit b eeps and the r ed LEDs flash to s how that a photo is being taken. The TomTom Bandit b eeps aga in when the photo is saved.
49 About activities You can use your Tom Tom Bandit to r ecord a wide range of typ es of sports and activities but you should take note of th e following: Scuba diving If you want to use th e TomTom Bandit i n water or underwat er to depths dow n to 50 m, fit the optional waterproof l ens cover.
50 About settings Important : You ca n also change settings using the Mobile App o n your smartp hone. To change settings t hat you use fre quently such as the TomTo m Bandit mode, move left from t he Camera Status scr een. To access other settings that yo u may need to cha nge less frequently , use the Settings men u.
51 3. On your smartphone , go to the phone's W i-Fi setti ngs screen t hen select the To mTom Bandit Wi -Fi connection from t he network list. 4. Enter the passwo rd shown on the T omTom Bandit scr een. Your phone connects to the TomTom Ba ndit. On the TomTom Bandit, t he screen shows Co n- nected to device .
52 Remote The remote control ca n be used to start a nd stop reco rding, and to manua lly add highlights to your video. Use the remot e control when you ca n't easily o r safely reach your Tom Tom Bandit. You can hold the remote control in yo ur hand, or you ca n attach it to a plac e you can easily reach.
53 Testing a heart rate se nsor You can check if a h eart rate monitor or se nsor are wo rking without having to start an activity. Do the following: 1. From the Camera Sta tus screen on yo ur TomTom Bandit, move down to open t he SETTING S menu. 2. Select GENERAL , then move right.
54 RESET WIFI generates a new Wi -Fi name a nd password. Auto record on Select AUTO REC . to switch th e automatic recor ding on the TomTom Ba ndit ON o r OFF .
55 Batt-Stick.
56 The Batt-Stick provi des power for your Tom Tom Bandit and st orage spa ce for all yo ur videos and photos. When the Bat t-Stick is inserted into the Tom Tom Bandit and lock ed, it forms a waterp roof seal. The Batt-Stick co ntains TomTom Bandit battery an d holds the microSD ca rd.

63 Mobile App.
64 The TomTom Bandit Mo bile app is th e easy way to vie w your videos and photo s, and to create yo ur video story within mi nutes of the action. You can also use the Mobile app to chang e video and photo modes on your TomT om Bandit, to start and stop recording, a nd to take photos.
65 The Mobile app wi ll not start until you have connected yo ur smartphone to yo ur TomTom Ban dit using Wi - Fi . Tip : For iOS only. If your s martphone is B luetooth Smart (BL E) capable, Wi -Fi is switched on and off automatica lly by the M obile app .
66 Login to TomTom MySpo rts and register yo ur TomTom Ba ndit to get firmwa re updates and QuickGPSFix updates f rom TomTom. You can login to Tom Tom MySports with a n existing account , or you can cre ate a new account . 1. Select Preferences i n the drop -down menu.
67 To disconnect your Tom Tom Bandit from t he Mobile app, on you r TomTom Bandit m ove right to the DISCONNECT scree n, then move left to YES. The TomTom Bandit Wi -Fi connectio n is switched off. Your smartphone wi ll revert to a Wi - Fi connection available in your area.
68 The TomTom Bandit Mo bile app shows th e Viewfi nder screen whe n the app start s. 1. Menu button. Select this button to open the drop -down me nu. From the me nu you can ope n the Li brary , create your video s tory , and cha nge Mobile app prefe rences .
69 Tip : Automatically high lighting is always o n. 5. Video and photo setti ngs. These settings let you change the video an d photo modes and setti ngs . 6. TomTom Bandit informa tion. The information shows you the battery level of the Batt-Stick , and the space o n the m emory card .
70 My Library shows the videos and photo s that are on your Tom Tom Bandit. You can view your complete videos o r just see your video hig hlights. Tip : The videos and photos remain on your TomTom Bandit until yo u upload them to your smartphone or de lete them.
71 Videos and Photos. Select this button to show all of your v ideos and photos . Select a video to play it on the scre en. Your highlight are s how as gre en s pots on the video time bar. Create a story. Select this button to open the Create a Sto ry screen.
72 Adding a highlight to a video If some important mom ents in your video ha ve not been highlighted , you can manual ly add highlights to the vid eo so those mome nts will also become part of yo ur video story. 1. Select My Library from the drop -down menu.
73 Select the Highlights button show the hig hlights from your videos. Select the Videos and Photos button to s how all of your videos and photos. 3. Swipe right on a highlight , a video or a photo th umbnail. 4. Select the delet e button. Your video or photo i s deleted from yo ur TomTom Ba ndit.
74 You can create a video s tory from highlights in your TomTom Ba ndit videos. The highlights were added automatical ly and manually w hen the video wa s recorded, but yo u can also add high lights to a video using the Mo bile app. Using the Mobile a pp, you can create yo ur story in dif ferent ways.
75 Manually selecting your video highlights Note : You must hav e highlig hts in your videos to be able to creat e a video story. 1. Select My Library from the drop -down menu. 1. Select the highlig hts button. 2. Select a highlight. The highlight plays in t he viewer.
76 6. You can edit the o rder of the highlights used to create your vid eo story. Select a highlight moment from the v ideo highlight bar , then move it left or right using the buttons . 7. To delete a highlight moment from t he video highligh t bar, select the hig hlight then select t he delete button.
77 This screen shows i nformation about yo ur TomTom Bandit. You may be asked to go to this screen during a call to TomTom Customer Sup port. Camera status.
78 App Settings Highlight units Select the units for th e metrics that a re shown wit h your highlights . Data Settings Choose to download ca mera updates and Quick GPSFix updates using o nly Wi -Fi, or using Wi-Fi and your mobile data co nnection.

An important point after buying a device TomTom Bandit (or even before the purchase) is to read its user manual. We should do this for several simple reasons:
If you have not bought TomTom Bandit yet, this is a good time to familiarize yourself with the basic data on the product. First of all view first pages of the manual, you can find above. You should find there the most important technical data TomTom Bandit - thus you can check whether the hardware meets your expectations. When delving into next pages of the user manual, TomTom Bandit you will learn all the available features of the product, as well as information on its operation. The information that you get TomTom Bandit will certainly help you make a decision on the purchase.
If you already are a holder of TomTom Bandit, but have not read the manual yet, you should do it for the reasons described above. You will learn then if you properly used the available features, and whether you have not made any mistakes, which can shorten the lifetime TomTom Bandit.
