2 IMPOR T ANT SAFEGU ARDS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should alwa ys be follo wed to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock and injur y to persons, including the f ollo wing: • Read all instructions before using appliance .
3 • Do not attempt to mov e Coffee Mak er containing hot liquids. Allow it to cool completely bef ore moving. • Coff ee Mak er must be left to cool do wn f or approximately 15 minutes bef ore adding more water . • Do not use appliance f or other than intended use.
4 POLARIZED PLUG: This appliance has a polarized plug, (one blade is wider than the other). As a saf ety f eature to reduce the risk of electr ical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one wa y . If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, re v erse the plug.
5 Bef ore Brewing Coff ee For The Fir st Time CA UTION: To protect against electr ical shock, do not immerse the Coff ee Mak er or allow A C cord to come into contact with water or other liquids. 1. After carefully unpacking from car ton, the inside of your Coff ee Maker and thermal caraf e must be cleaned.
6 •A clean Coff ee Mak er is essential f or making great tasting coff ee. Regular cleaning, as specified in the User Maintenance Instructions, is highly recommended. • Alwa ys use fresh, cold water in your Coff ee Maker . • Store coff ee in a cool, dr y place.
7 4. T urn the filter basket so that the 2 guides are f acing a wa y from y ou. Fir mly replace the remov able filter basket b y pushing it down into the filter bask et ca vity in the front of the Coff ee Maker . Make sure it fits snuggly so Lid closes properly (Lid will snap into place).
8 To Bre w a Second P ot of Coffee •T o brew a second pot of coff ee, tur n the Coff ee Mak er off f or 15 minutes and allo w it to cool. Empty used coff ee grounds and repeat steps f or bre wing coff ee . CA UTION: F ailure to allow Coff ee Mak er to cool ma y cause wa ter to ov erheat and spra y hot steam.
9 Care and Cleaning 1. Make sure coff eemaker is in the OFF position; the ON light will be off . 2. Unplug and allow to cool completely bef ore cleaning. 3. Lift the Coff ee Maker lid and remo v e the remo v ab le filter bask et b y the handle. Discard coff ee grounds and paper filter .
10 Ho w T o Decalcify Y our Coffee Maker 1. Place a paper filter into the remov able filter bask et. Mak e sure the remov able filter bask et fits securely so Lid closes properly (Lid will snap into place). 2. Fill caraf e with one par t white vinegar to three par ts cold water .
