10 CD-R/CD -RW discs This unit can play back CD-R and CD-R W discs that have been recorded in the audio CD f ormat (CD-DA) and the MP3 or WMA f or mat. o Discs created b y a CD recorder must be finalized with the CD recorder that was used t o create the discs befor e being used with this unit.
11 ENG LISH Handling precautions o Always insert the disc into the disc tray with the label side up. Only one side of a C ompac t Disc can be played or used f or recording . o If the side of the disc that the signal is recorded on (unlabeled side) has scratches, fingerprints or dir t on it, for example , playback errors could occur .

13 ENG LISH Handling records Holding rec ords When holding a record or r emoving it from its sleeve, avoid touching the g rooves by holding the r ecord by its label and edge with one hand or by holding it by its edge with both hands.
14 V Precautions when making connections o Do not turn the unit on until after mak ing all connections. o Carefully r ead the manuals of the devices that you are connecting and follow their instructions when making connec tions.
15 ENG LISH C Analog audio input and output jacks (A UX1 IN/LINE OUT ) These input and output analog audio signals . Use commercially available audio cables t o connec t other equipment to the input and output jacks of this unit.
16 C onnec ting the speakers Use the included speaker cables to connect the included speakers to the main unit. Right speaker Left speaker While pressing the lever , inser t the end of the cable (where the wire is exposed). Release the lever t o con - nect the speaker cable.
17 ENG LISH Replacin g the st ylus o Record styluses are precision parts, so handle them carefully to a void bending or damaging their tips. If a stylus becomes bent or damaged, it might not be able to follo w the audio groove pr ecisely and could damage records or cause other malfunction.

22 Using the remote control Precautions f or use o When using the remote contr ol, point it toward the remote contr ol signal receiver on the main unit fr om a distance of 5 m (16 ft) or less. Do not place obstruc- tions between the main unit and the remote contr ol.

24 T urntable co v er A ttaching the turntable cov er Hinge Main unit T urntable cover 1 Insert the hinges completely into the hinge holders at the left and right ends of the back of the main unit. 2 A lign the tops of the hinges with the turntable co ver hinge holders and inser t them.
25 ENG LISH Setting the clock ( 1 ) Set the current time befor e using the unit. Y ou can set the clock when the unit is in standby . 1 P ress the ST ANDB Y/ON button to put the unit into standb y . NO TE When the ring around the button is not lit blue, the unit is in standby .
26 Setting the clock ( 2 ) 6 P ress the CL OCK ADJUST button. Display example The minute value blinks. 7 P ress the TIME ( j / k ) buttons t o set the current minute . 8 P ress the CL OCK ADJUST button. This completes the procedur es for setting the time.
27 ENG LISH Basic o peration ( 1 ) 3 T urn the VOL UME knob to adjust the volume . MIN (0): minimum volume MAX (40): maximum v olume T urn the VOLUME knob right to raise the volume and left to lower it. o The default value is 20. o When you turn the VOL UME k nob, the v olume will be shown for about thr ee seconds.
28 Basic o peration ( 2 ) Adjusting the bass , treble and stereo balance 1 P ress the SOUND button to select the item y ou want to adjust. Pr essing the SOUND button cycles through the items in the follo wing order . BASS TREBLE BALANCE Ordinary display 2 W ithin three sec onds, start using the VOL UME (+/−) buttons to adjust the setting.

30 Listening to a CD ( 1 ) 1 P ress the CD/Bluetooth button to select C D. Pr ess the CD/Bluetooth button again to switch between CD and Bluetooth. After switching to CD , “DISC ” will appear , “READING” will blink for several seconds , and then the CD will be in a stopped state.

34 Prog rammed pla yba ck ( 1 ) Up to 32 tracks/files can be prog rammed in the desired order . Pr ogram tracks when playback is stopped . Progr amming tracks/files 1 P ress the CD/Bluetooth button to select “ C D ”. 2 P ress the MEMORY butt on when stopped.
35 ENG LISH T o selec t a file by number , use the sk ip/search ( .m / ,/ ) buttons. Display example F older number F ile number o This unit treats MP3/WM A files that are not in folders as being in the 001 (ROO T ) folder . o If you change the folder or file number , only the MEMORY indicator will blink.
36 Checking the program order When stopped, pr ess the MEMORY button to cycle through the pr ogram numbers and the prog rammed track numbers in order . Adding tr acks to the end of the program 1 W hen stopped, press the MEMOR Y but- ton repea tedly to show the number which is one higher than the last pro - gram number .
37 ENG LISH 3 P ress the MEMORY butt on. The selected track/file is added at the selected pro- gram number , r eplacing the file that was there. Clearing all the progr am contents Pr ess and hold the stop ( 8 ) button for at least two sec- onds when stopped.
38 Repeat a nd shuf fle pla yback e When the CD function is active, press the PLA Y MODE button to cycle through the f ollowing playback modes. When an audio CD is loaded REPEA T (single track repeat).

42 Listening to audio from a Bluetoot h devic e With this unit, you can enjoy list ening to music played back on another Bluetooth device wirelessly . 1 P ress the CD/Bluetooth button to select “Bluetooth ” . “P AIRING” appears on the display , and the unit searches f or paired devices.
43 ENG LISH 2 Oper ate the Bluetooth device t o star t playback. If the connec ted Bluetooth device supports A VRCP , you can use this unit or the remot e control to play , pause or stop audio on that device. Depending on the Bluetooth device being used, remote contr ol operation might not be suppor ted or actual operations might differ .
44 Pai ring with another Bluetoot h devic e P airing is necessar y before using the Bluetooth function of this unit for the first time and when you want t o con- nect a new Bluetooth device. F ollow these procedures t o pair the unit with the other device.
45 ENG LISH 3 F rom the Bluetooth de vice select “LP-P1000” (this unit). o If a passk ey is requir ed dur ing pairing, input “0000” . When connection succeeds, the unit will make an electronic beeping sound, and the Bluetooth figur e mark ( ) will appear on the display .
46 6 Lift the cue lev er to raise the tone arm. T one arm Cue lever o Y ou can also leav e the cue lever down and move the raised tone arm over the recor d and then lower the tone arm slowly to start playback. 7 Mo ve the tone arm to the edge of the rec ord or the track where y ou want to star t playback.

Af ter the fr equenc y star ts chang - ing, stop pr essing the button to star t automatic station selection. 49 ENG LISH Manual station selection When using the main unit T urn the scroll (MUL TI JOG) knob to change the recep- tion frequency . o T urn right to increase the reception fr equenc y and left to decrease it. When using the remot e control Pr ess a TUNING/TIME ( j / k ) button briefly to change the frequency by a fixed step .
50 Pr eset tuning ( 1 ) Y ou can stor e FM and AM stations int o preset numbers 1 to 20 respectively . 1 P ress the FM/AM button t o selec t FM or AM band. Pr ess the FM/AM butt on again to switch between FM and A M bands. 2 U se the TUNING ( j / k ) buttons to search for the r adio station that y ou want to sa ve as a preset .
51 ENG LISH Aut omatic presets The unit can automatically search f or and add presets for the stations that it can r eceive. 1 P ress the FM/AM button t o selec t FM or AM broadcast rec eption. Each time you press the F M/AM button, the unit will switch between FM and A M broadcast reception.
52 Pr eset tuning ( 2 ) W ak eup t imer ( 1 ) At the set time, sound will be output fr om the speak ers. o Adjust the clock bef ore setting the timer (page 25). Setting the timer 1 P ut the unit into standby (pow er o ). The unit must be in standby to set the timer .

54 7 P ress the TIME ( j / k ) buttons t o set the volume le vel. Y ou can set the volume between 5 (minimum) and 32 (maximum). o When the wakeup timer turns the unit on, the volume will gradually incr ease until the set vol - ume is reached. 8 P ress the TIMER button.
55 ENG LISH The unit can be set to enter standby after a specified amount of time. Setting the sleep timer Pr ess the SLEEP button repeatedly until the desir ed set- ting appears on the display . The settings for the time until the unit ent ers standby change as follows (sho wn in minutes).
