7 Mounting/Un-Mounting Drive in Removable Carriers When driv es are installed i n StorCase carrrier/ frames, th e MX-2424 can moun t and un-m ount removable driv es without required a sy stem reboot. Rem ember to un-m ount (SHIFT+MOUNT) before removing any StorCase carriers from the MX-2424 to avoi d data corrupt ion and sys tem errors.

9 SCSI Rules There are a f ew rules tha t must be considered wh en connecting SCSI devices to the MX- 2424: 1. Narrow (8- bit) devices c onnected externally to the MX-2424 m ust be connected at the end of the SCSI chain. 2. Narrow (8- bit) devices m ay be ins talled in the fro nt panel bay of the MX- 2424 with the prope r adapter (ADP- 9053).

SCSI Cable Length The tota l cable length of a SCSI chain inc ludes the internal cabling in the M X-2424 its elf, all c arriers and drive bay s connected and the cabl e used to conn ect between any externa l drive ca ses.
15 Proper Termination A term inator prov ides electr ical c ircuitry at the end o f a SCSI chain to prevent the ref lection of electr ical signals wh en they rea ch the end of the chain. The SCSI bus requi res term ination only at the end of the SCSI chain.
