17 CHANNEL SETTING Add/Delete Function The channels you no longer receiv e or seldom w atch can be deleted from the memory . Y ou can also add channels into memor y . Selecting TV Stereo or SAP Y ou can select stereo or SAP (Secondary Audio Program). "Stereo" has been selected as the default.

29 OPERA TING VCR VCR FUNCTIONS One-T ouch Timer Recording This f eature allows you to set the recording length simply by pressing I RECORD (VCR) b utton on the main unit. VCR 1 During nor mal recording, press I RECORD (VCR) b utton on the main unit to begin one-touch timer recording.
30 Other Functions VCR To cue or review picture during pla yback (Picture Searc h): Press g or h b uttons during playbac k. Press it again and the unit will search in super high speed. ( in the SLP mode only ) To freeze the picture on TV screen during play- back (Still mode): Press PA USE F bu tton.

35 Playbac k with Disc Menu A D VD disc contains a disc menu that describes the contents or allows y ou to customize the pla yback. F or example , the menu may off er choices for subti- tle languages, special f eatures, or chapter selection.
36 Special Playbac k Resume Y ou can resume pla y from where you stopped pla y- ing the disc last. NO TE: •F or MP3 files, pla yback will resume from the beginning of the track at which pla yback w as stopped. 1 During playbac k, press ST OP C (D VD) bu tt on.
37 Step by Step DVD-RW (VR) DVD-RW (Video) DVD-R DVD-V 1 During playbac k, press PA USE F bu t t on. Pla yback will pause and sound will be muted. 2 Press CHANNEL K b utton repeatedly . Every time you press the b utton, the playbac k will go f orward by one fr ame (or step) with the sound muted.

3 Select a desired audio soundtrac k using K / L b uttons , then press ENTER bu tt on. <D VD-Video> A udio soundtrack will s witch. <D VD-RW VR mode> Y ou can s witch to main (L), sub audio (R) or a mix of both (L/R). In this case, f ollow the step [4].
43 OPERA TING D VD RECORDER PLA YING Switching Subtitles Many D VD Video discs have subtitles in one or more languages. The case usually tells you which subtitle languages are av ailable . Y ou can s witch sub- title languages anytime during pla yback.

E ASY D VD RECORDING 46 The f ollowing will help you to understand easily ho w to record to D VD discs. NO TE: • Make sure that y ou have completed connections and batteries should be inserted in the remote control. Step 1: Choose a disc type There are se veral types of D VD disc recordable to choose from.

R ECORDING 48 Recording Speed Y ou can select a recording speed among 6 options. The recording time depends on the recording speed y ou select as f ollows: * This table is designed f or a new single-sided 12cm disc as the standard. The recording time shown abov e may diff er from actual recording time.

51 Basic Recording Recording TV Programs F ollow the steps below to record TV programs. D VD-R W (VR) D VD-R W (Video) D VD-R 1 Tu rn on the unit and load a recordab le disc. NO TE: • This operation ma y take a fe w minutes to complete. 2 Press REC SPEED b utton, then change the recording speed using K / L b uttons .
52 4 Select a desired channel to record using CHAN- NEL K / L b uttons or Number b uttons. 5 Press D VD RECORD b utton to start recording. NO TE: • Recording star ts immediately and continues until the disc is full or you stop recording. I mark will be display ed for 5 seconds .
53 When the unit reaches the specified time, it will turn off automatically . NO TE: Automatic T urn Off • The unit will turn off automatically under the following condi- tions: 1) No space remained on the disc.
54 Finalizing Discs Y ou must "Finaliz e" all recorded discs before the y can be pla yed on other D VD play ers. Without final- ization, Video mode discs cannot be pla yed bac k on other D VD play ers, and VR mode discs cannot be pla yed back on other VR compatible pla yers .
55 Protecting Discs To prev ent accidental recording, editing or erasing the titles, y ou can protect them. D VD-R W (VR) 1 Press SETUP b utton to displa y SETUP/DISC menu. SETUP/DISC menu will appear . 2 Select "DISC" using s / B b uttons , then press ENTER but t on.
56 Connecting to External Video Products Connections Connect the e xter nal video products properly to the unit by using input jac ks on the front of this unit. Use S-Video or video cable and an audio cab le for this connection. 1 Press SETUP b utton to displa y SETUP/DISC menu.
D UBBING 57 VCR D VD-R W (VR) D VD-R W (Video) D VD-R Y ou can cop y a D VD disc to a videotape or copy a videotape to a D VD disc. This function will be possi- b le only if the D VD disc or the tape is not cop y pro- tected. Bef ore star ting this function, prepare for the recording on the D VD-R/RW disc or the videotape .
T IMER RECORDING 58 Timer Recording Y ou can program up to 7 prog rams 1 year in advance . Daily or weekly progr am recordings are also av ailable . NO TE: Time must be set • Be sure to set the clock bef ore making a timer programming. •I nser t a recordable disc or a tape with a safety tab .

60 Suggestions for Timer Recording • If there is a pow er failure or this unit has been unplugged f or more than 3 seconds, the cloc k setting and all timer settings will be lost. • If a disc is not on the tra y , timer recording cannot be perf ormed.
E DITING DISCS 61 About Disc Editing Title List Title list allows y ou to check the titles recorded on the disc easily . Y ou can choose a title to edit from this screen and easily edit the titles as you pref er . 1. Titles recorded on the disc can be selected to edit by pressing ENTER b utton with the cursor on the title.
62 Editing Discs in Video Mode Deleting Titles Caution: Y ou can delete titles that you do not need an ymore. The titles once deleted cannot be recov ered to the disc. When the last title in the title list in Video mode is deleted, the disc space to record will be increased.
63 OPERA TING D VD RECORDER EDITING DISCS Setting Chapter Markers Y ou can put chapter markers in each title . Once a chapter is marked, you can use it f or the chapter search. Y ou can set chapter markers at a specified time you selected f or titles with more than 5 minutes .
64 Editing D VD-RW Discs in VR Mode (Original) Deleting Titles When a title is deleted from an original list in VR mode, the disc space to record will be increased. Caution: Be advised that the titles once deleted cannot be brought back to the disc. D VD-R W (VR) 1 Press SETUP bu tton.
