One bobby pin, metal or plastic toy , nail or sharp object in a load can catch laundry and cause tears . F acial tissue left in a pocket will produce extr eme “lint”.
-7- 201472 Loading the W a sher NOTE: Always add deter gent first. Load Ar ticles • Load items by the amount of space they take up , not by their weight. Mix lar ge and small items in a load to get the best washing r esults . • Drop items loosely into the washtub .
-8- 201472 W ash T emperature Hot W ater Hot water will giv e the best results of cleaning and sanitizing, but it is not suitable for all items . It is best for stur dy wh ites and colorfast items , heavily soiled items and diapers . W ar m W ater By using warm water , ther e is less chance of color loss in items .
-9- 201472 Operating Y our W a sher Determine Proper Cycle (Some cycles may not be included on your model) Regular Cycle Use for sturdy items, like play or work clothes, towels, T-shirts, etc. The wash time selection will depend on the type of fabric and the amount of soil.
-10- 201472 Fabric Selector Setting (on select models only) Regular This setting provides a r egular agitation speed and a fast spin speed. Use REGULAR setting for stur dy items like work or play clothes . Also use it for items that are heavily soiled.
-11- 201472 4. Close the lid. The washer will not agitate or spin with the lid open. 5. Set WASH/RINSE temperatures . (All rinses are cold.) NOTE: Cold rinses will sav e yo u money and ener gy and will help reduce wrinkling in permanent pr ess and synthetics .
-12- 201472 7. Set F abric Selector (on select models only). 8. Select Extra Rinse (on select models only) if desir ed. 9. Select the cycle accor ding to the type of fabric being washed. P ush the timer knob in and turn clockwise to the desir ed cycle and wash time.
-13- 201472 Optional Features Bleach Dispenser The bleach dispenser is l ocated in the left front corner , under the lid. Use liquid bleach in the dispenser . P ow der ed bleach must not be used in the dispenser . Add powder ed bleach to the wash water .
-14- 201472 T o Clean the Dispenser Remove the dispenser housing from agitator by squeezing the lower part of the dispenser , pulling dir ectly upwar d and at the same time tilting slightly . This will expose the dispenser cup , which is also r emovable , for cleaning (r efer to illustr ation).
-15- 201472 Clothing Care Clothing Care Labels The symbols below appear on many clothing car e labels . F ollowing the instru ctions on each label will help ensur e the best laundry r esults .
-16- 201472 W a shing Special Items NOTE: Always F ollow Manufacturer’ s Care Label Instructions Bedding • Warm wash and warm rinse, if av ailable. • Use PERMANENT PRESS cycle. • P retr eat heavily soiled areas befor e washing. • When washing an electric blanket, protect the plug by stitching the edge of the blanket over the plug.
-17- 201472 Clothing Concerns T o keep clothes looking wh ite or bright, use good washing pr actices at all times to pr event a gr adual build-up of soil or water har dness miner als on them. If you notice that y our clothes ar e not as bright as they should be , take corr ective measur es immediately .
-18- 201472 Laundr y Products Excessiv e Lint Improper Sorting F abrics which shed lint cannot be washed with fabrics that r eceive lint. Insufficient D eter gent / Non-phosphate D eter gent Use enough deter gent so lint r emains suspended in water and flushed out.
-19- 201472 * Br and names ar e tr ademarks of t heir re spective ma nufacturers . Stain Removal • Many soils will not become stains if tr eated promptly . Older stains may be difficult or impossible to r emove . Hot water will set some stains , par ticularly protein based stains .
-20- 201472 Blood T reat stain immediately . So ak 30 minutes or mor e in co ld water . Rub deter gent into stain. If stain persists , place a small amou nt of household ammonia on the stain and rub again with deter gent. If sa fe for fabric, wash in hot wa ter and chlorine bleach if tr aces of the stain persist.
-21- 201472 Grease , Oil Place face down on paper tow el and spon ge with a pr etreat product. D ampen stain with water and rub with bar soap or deter gent. Wash in hot water (if safe for fabric). Ink S aturate the stain with hair spray or place the fabric fa ce down on paper towel and sponge with rubbing alcohol (refer to W ARNING on page 19).

-23- 201472 Maintenance Cold W eather Care • If the washer is deliver ed on a cold day (below fr eezing), or is stor ed in an unheated room or ar ea during the cold mo nths , do not attempt to oper ate it until the washer has had a chance to warm up .
-24- 201472 Reinstallation of Shipping Materials Y ou must install the shipping br ace and shipping plug any time the washer is mov ed. Shipping Brace • The shipping br ace in the lid opening should be save d and reinstalled whenev er the washer is moved.
