9 Setting up your CLIÉ™ handheld It takes about four hours to charge your CLIÉ h andheld fully for the first time. The POWER L ED indicato r turns off whe n charging is c omplete. Tip Subseque nt charge s will requi re less time if you ch arge yo ur CLIÉ han dheld freq uently .
10 Connect the AC co rd to the AC power ada pter and then plug the AC cord int o a wall ou tlet. Removing the plug adap ter Push the re lease buttons o n both sides of th e plug adapter ( 1 ), and then re move the plug ada pter ( 2 ).

14 Notes • Always use th e pointe d end of the stylus for tapping or mak ing strokes on your CLIÉ handhe ld screen. Never use a writi ng pen, pencil, or othe r sharp object to write on the scre en. • When yo u put the stylus back i n its holder, push it in until it clicks int o place.

20 Installation of the Palm™ D esktop for CLIÉ softwa re on your computer is compl ete. 8 Click Next . The Create User Account window is displaye d. 9 Enter a user name i n the Create Use r Account window. You can ent er any user name yo u pref er.

24 4 Press the HotSync button on the cradle. The Ho tSyn c ® opera tio n betwe en you r CLIÉ handhe ld and computer starts. When th e Hot Sync ® operation is complete, the following screen is displa yed. 5 Double-click the Palm™ Desktop for CLIÉ icon on the Windows desktop.

28 3 Quitting the applicatio n You do not need t o sa ve da ta m anual ly on you r CLIÉ han dheld as yo u do with the comput er. All the changes in the application that you are working on are automatically saved, and the last screen you worked on is displayed when you restart the application.

46 Listening to musi c You can listen to music on your CLIÉ handheld by transferring music files from your compu ter to the “Memo ry Stick” media inserted into you r CLIÉ hand held.
