2. Getting st arted This chapter describes the prelimina ry step s required to set up the recorder and how to make connections before starting to use the device. Inst alling the remote control battery Follow these instructions to inse rt the remote control battery: 1.

3. Using the MPEG-4 Recorder Now that you have set up the re corder, yo u are ready to start using it to view your favorite im ages, liste n to audio tra cks, watch videos, and record video s. Th is chapter provides det aile d instru c- tions for these tasks and for us ing the OSD (On S creen Display) menu.

Press the button to access the photo menu. 2. Use the keys to decid e if ALL photos, the FOLDER or OFF wil l be used in the slide show .

16 Listenin g to music Listening to music The recorder is able to play both .WMA and .MP3 audio fi le for- mat s. Playing a udio T o play an audio file: 1. Highlight the Audi o menu and press to access the file list. 2. Use the ke ys to go to the require d file and press to play the file.

The follo wing two functions are available: Repeat Use to choose Off , Single , Folder or All Note: Select Off to turn the repeat functi on of f, All repeats all tracks, Single will repeat only a single track, an d Fo lder will repeat all tra cks in the folder .
18 Watching videos W atching videos The recorder is able to play .ASF , .A VI and .MP4 image file for- mat s. Playin g vi deos 1. Highlight the Video menu and press to access the file list. 2. Use the to go to the required file an d press to play the fi le.

Note: Select Off to turn the repeat functi on of f, Single to repea t just the current selection, Fo lder to repeat all in the folde r , or All to repeat al l videos.
20 Recording video Recording video Simple record T o star t a reco rding : 1. Highlight the record function on the main menu and press . 2. Change the chann el on the input de vice i.e. TV , DVD, VCR or Camcorder . 3. Press the key to record. 4. T o finish recording press th e or key again.
Record in g video 21 Notice Resolution (368 x 208) is designe d for recording 16 :9 video con- tents, which makes it easier to record and playback 16 :9 movies. If you find the upper a nd bo ttom screen of the video clip is incom- plete, pleases check if the video content is 16:9 and be low ste p s has been follow ed.
22 Recording video T imer r ecord T o access th e timer record fun ction, scroll dow n and press the key . The screen is divide d into fu nctional areas: P ROGRAMS The recorder has 6 avai lable recording progra ms. Use the follow- ing settings to setup each pro gram.

If the auto record turns on, it will automatically start to reco rd when there is a video source input and the re cordin g will stop if the source is turned off.
24 Recording video Selecting the right recording resolutio n setting The 320x240,176 x120 and the 640x48 0 modes record in a 4:3 aspect ratio (which is standard screen format found on regular DVD's and mo st TV 's).
Record in g video 25 176x120, 320 x240-3GP and 176x120-3GP are de signed for Mobile Phone s. Please refer to your Mobile Phones's manual for details concernin g supported formats and resoluti ons. Note:As of the date of this printing, the PSP wo uld not allow zooming on 368x208 resolution files.

File br owsing 29 C OPY The files can be copi ed from CF card to MS Duo card or vice versa. Also, the files can be copi ed to a dif ferent folder of th e same memory card. 1. Other ap plications : 31 II.Video i-POD Basically the V ideo iPOD only sup ports the MPEG4 video up to 480x480 resolutions. Thus we su ggest you to choose the video content encod ed in 320x240-30fps or 368x208 resoluti on from MPEG-4 reco rder for playback on Video iPOD.
