Page 3 The Reference 4420 is a compact, v ery efficient, tw o channel power amplifier. It is designed to be used in al l types of audio or audi o/video sy stems. The Reference 4420 utilizes high quality electronic circuitry to achieve an environment wher ein a detailed, transpar ent, and highly musical sound can be realized.

Page 6 If the control function is desired, each uni t in the system must remai n connected at all times and the control must be enabled. To enabl e the control function, the CTRL ENABLE button must be out for each controllabl e amplifier in the sy stem.
Page 7 Five w ay binding posts are pr ovided. One pai r for each channel. They ar e designed to accept a banana-type pl ug or spade lug connector (show n below) and are color coded for easy identificati on. The red (+) post should alw ays be connected to the speakers ( +) jack.
Page 8 Balanced - XLR ty pe connectors accept li ne input from the preamplifier’ s balanced output connectors. There ar e two input connector s, one for each channel, that may be used to connect the ampl ifier to the preamplifier .

Page 10 Connect the audio cables from y our preampli fier’s output to the corresponding input connector on the ampli fier. Connect the wi res from your speakers to the appropriate output on the ampl ifier. It is absolutely essential that you observ e correct polari ty in these connecti ons.
