Chapter 10 Feat ures 1 Overview Features The DSR-DR1000/ DR1000P is a digita l videodi sk recorder using the DVCAM TM digital recording format. It is the firs t professiona l DVC AM studio recor der to feat ure a hard disk as its recording media.
11 Feat ures either as channel s 1 and 2 or as channels 3 and 4. The two audio cha nnels can be output also either as channel s 1 and 2 or as channels 3 an d 4. Compact Size The compa ct size of th e unit makes th e unit suitabl e for use on a desk top or in an outs ide bro adcast van.
12 Feat ures Sim ultaneous recording and play back While rec ording input signals to the hard disk, t his unit is capable of si multaneous normal speed or slow-motio n* playback o f any materials al ready recorded on the hard disk.

14 Locat ion and Func tion of Parts Location and Fu nction of Parts Fr ont P a nel a 1 (power) switch Press to power on the unit when the POWER switch on the rear panel is tu rned on (see page 2 3) . This causes the audio level m eters and the di splay sectio n to light.
15 Location and F unction of Parts b SC (subcarrier phase)/SYNC (synchronization phase) control Turn the SC cont rol to accurately a d just the subcarrier phase of the composite vi deo output signal of the unit with respect to the reference video signal.

23 Location and F unction of Parts Rear P anel a REF. (reference) VIDEO IN connectors (BNC type) Input a reference vi deo signa l. The two connecto r s are loop-throu gh connectors. You can connect the referenc e video signa l input to the lef t connecto r to other equipment via the righ t connector (marked ).
24 Locat ion and Func tion of Parts f 400 (i.LINK) connector (6-p in IEEE-1394) Connect a DV cable t o make connections to DV device s, computers, and so on.

31 Setti ng the Time Da ta Adv ancement of internal time code generator The internal time code generator can advance in either of two modes, which can be set wit h t he RUN MODE menu item (see page 68 ) . FREE RUN : Advancement starts when the data sav i ng operation i s completed.
32 Making Basic Ne twork Sett ings Making Basi c Network Settings To use this un it in a LAN enviro nment (see page 51) , you need to set this unit’ s IP address, subn et mask, and def ault gateway, and to set up an acco unt with a user name and password.
33 Recording Chapter 3 Recording and Playb ack Recording This sectio n describes the necessa ry settings and operations to perform reco r ding on this unit. The same settings and operations apply whether y ou are using the unit as p art of an editi ng system, for dubbing, or as a st and- alone recorder.
34 Recording When co ntrollin g this unit from a n editing control un it connected t o the REMOTE IN (R)connec tor, see “Cont rol mode select or” on page 15 and the descriptio n of the REMOTE I/F men u item on page 72. 1 Power on the vi deo monitor, then set its input switches according to the signals i nput from the player.
35 Recording • When, i n 4-channel mode, analog audio is selected for al l four channels (channel s 1/2 and 3/4), the same analog au dio signals are recorded on channels 1 and 3 and on ch annels 2 and 4, respec tively.
36 Recording T o Set Cue P oints Setting cue po ints at hig hlight scenes makes it easy to cue those scenes u p later. Cue points can be set in recording, playback o r simultaneous record i ng and playback. To set a cu e point whi le record ing, hold down the J (C UE) button and press the SET button at the desired scene.
37 Playbac k Recor ding Continuously by Overwr iting O ld Co ntent (Continuous Recor ding) Continuou s recording allows you t o continue recor ding for extended p eriods by overwri ting old er recorded conten t. To perform cont inuous recording, you need t o set the REC MODE menu item (see pa ge 65) t o CO NT.
38 Playbac k 3 Press the PLAY bu tton. This starts the pl ayback operat ion. When all dat a is played back, t he unit stops play back. To perfo rm the followi ng operat ions a) When the SE ARCH ENA BLE menu i tem (see page 65 ) is se t to ENABLE.
39 Playbac k R and P lit at same tim e: Output signal s are selected by the R a nd P buttons i n the PANEL SELECT secti on. Recordin g signals are output when the R butto n is lit, and playb ack signals are outpu t when the P button i s lit.

45 Clips Chapter 4 Clip Operations Clips Data record ed on the har d disk of t his unit is managed i n units of clips. The se ction from the recording sta rt point (Rec In) to the recordi ng end point (Rec Out) is def ined as a single clip a nd automatically assigned a cl ip name.
46 To Search in Clip Units (Clip Jump) To display t h e protect operati on menu, select PROTECT in the Disk menu and press the k (O UT) button. In the protect operat ion menu, select PROTECT ALL ON or CLIP and p ress the SET butto n. All clips or in dividual clips are protected .

48 Working with Play lis ts Working with Playlists Scenes that you define w ithin clips by sett ing In and Out points are assigned n umbers in the order of creation and displaye d in playlist s . In playlists, you can reset In and Out points, sort scenes in differe nt orders, and a dd new scenes.
49 Working with Playlists T o reset In and Out points 1 Select MODIFY and press t h e k (OUT) button. The screen returns to the normal monitor screen. 2 Playback or search to f ind the position th at you want to set as a n ew In point. T hen press the S E T button with the K (IN ) butt on he ld down .

To display the Net work menu, sel ect NET WORK MENU from the menu selecti on screen and press the k (OUT) button.

You can change the information as r equired (see pag e 54) . Registering Host inf o rmation in an Address Book The figure below shows the ADDRESS BOOK DATA screen.

Editing an Address Book You can change the information in an address book entr y and save it under the same regist ration nu mber or a differe nt regist ration number.

It is therefore necessary to connect a delay unit between the audio mixer’s out put and the audio input to t he DSR-1500A /1500AP (recorder).
