9 Playback options Playing tracks repeatedly (Repeat play) Y ou can play tracks re peatedly in normal, INTR O PGM, single, shuffle and RMS play modes. During playback, press REPEA T/ENTER. Note on . / > During Repeat play , you can locate the first track after the last track by pressing > repeatedly .
10 Selecting tracks by listening to songs’ intr o (INTRO PGM play) Y ou can program the CD player to play only the tracks you like listening to while the CD player plays the beginning of e very track (song’ s intro) one by one. 1 During playback, press PLA Y MODE repeatedly until “INTRO PGM” appears.
11 Playing tracks in your favorite order (RMS play) Y ou can pro gram the CD player to play up to 22 tracks in your fa vorite order . 1 During playback, press PLA Y MODE repeatedly until “RMS” appears. 2 Press . or > to select a track. 3 Press REPEA T/ENTER to enter the selected track.
12 T urning on the shock protection function (ESP 2 ) The ESP 2 * function pre vents the sound from skipping when you make a jolt or b ump to your CD player . This function is useful when using your CD player in a car or other mobile application. Press ESP to display “ESP .
13 Locking the controls (HOLD) Y ou can lock the controls on your CD pla yer to prevent accidental b utton presses. Slide HOLD in the direction of the arrow.
14 Resuming the playback (Resume play) Y our CD player can recall the playback point where you stopped and resume playing from the same place. Set RESUME to “ON.” T o cancel resume play Set RESUME to “OFF . ” Notes • Resume play is canceled if you open the CD player lid (even if the RESUME switc h is set to “ON”).
15 Connecting a stereo system Y ou can listen to CDs thr ough a stereo system and record CDs on a cassette tape. For details, see the instruction manual that comes with the connected device. Be sure to turn off all connected de vices before making connections.
16 Using your CD player in a car Y ou can use your CD player in a car by connecting it to the car cassette deck. Y ou cannot use the car mount plate for this CD player . When you use your CD player in a car , install it securely in a location that does not interfere with your driving .

18 Using the rechargeable batteries T o remove the rechargeable batteries Remov e the ba tteries as illustrated belo w . When to charge the rechargeable batteries When the batteries become weak, “Lo” and the indicator appear in the display .
19 Notes on the power source Disconnect all power sources when the CD player is not used. On AC power adaptor • Use only the A C power adaptor supplied or recommended in “ Accessories (supplied/ optional). ” Do not use any other AC po wer adaptor .
20 Precautions On safety • Should an y solid objects or liquid fall into the CD player , unplug it and have it checked by qualified personnel befor e operating it any further . • Do not put any for eign objects in the DC IN 4.5 V (external power input) jack.
21 T roubleshooting Should any problem persist after you ha ve chec ked these symptoms, consult your nearest Sony dealer . Symptom The volume does not increase even if you press the VOLUME + button repeatedly. No sound, or noise is heard. The playing time is too short when powered with the dry batteries.
