This unit uses CD-R discs and CD-R W discs with the following mark. This unit uses CD-R OM discs with the f ollo wing mark. When you use this unit as a CD player , use compact discs with the following mark.
Introduction Features This CD-R/R W driv e has the following features: General ● 5 1/4 inch half-height driv e form factor . ● Fast SCSI b us interface embedded (based on SCSI-2). ● Integrated b uffer memory . ● Power tray loading and ejection (manual eject too).
Precautions ■ Installation ● A v oid placing the drive in a location subject to: – high humidity – high temperature – excessiv e dust – mechanical vibration – direct sunlight. Only horizontal driv e operation recommended, not vertical or tilted.
Step 3: Finding the Connector The SCSI cable should hav e 1 or more unused connectors on the end opposite the adapter , as sho wn, find a connector not in use. W e recommend a connector at the v ery end of the 50 pin SCSI ca ble. Note: If no free 50 pin SCSI connector exists, see “Troubleshooting”, page 18.
The following table sho ws the function of each jumper . Notes: ● The upper row of pins is (without position KEY) is ground. ● Remov e jumper to set OFF , install jumper to set ON. ● ID SELECT , A CTIVE TERM, and TEST MODE are recognized when the power supply is turned on or the SCSI b us is reset.
Step 7: Mounting the Drive Insert the CD-R W driv e into computer front as shown, routing cables accordingly . Secure dri ve to frame with appropriate screws. Note: Slide rails (not included) may be necessary if you cannot secure CD-R W driv e. Refer to your computer’ s User’ s Guide for more information.
Software Installation Please refer to CD-R W formatting software/CD manual for instruction on software installation. CD-R W formatting software must f irst be properly installed in order to write CD’ s with this device.
As the driv e begins reading the T able of Contents (TOC) data, the b usy indicator lights and remains illuminated until read is completed. When the busy indicator switches of f, the dri ve is ready to receiv e commands, data may be retrieved from the disc.
