18 Axxess ® Model 8690 User Guide – ITP Mode FINDING Y OUR WAY E ND POINT B ASICS Before you begin using your endpoint, take a moment to learn ho w to complete basic tasks such as adjusting the angle of the endpoint, using the speaker and the micro- phone, and using a headset.
19 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode FINDING Y OUR WAY Using the S peakers and Microphone If you are not using a headset, you can talk handsfree u sing your speakers and micr o- phone. The microphone has a mute feature, wh ich, when enabled, allows you to hear the other party but they cannot hear you.

Enable or disable the following options: • Log to file : Diagnostics are logged to a fi le stored in the My Computer folder on the endpoint. This option is ON by defaul t. NOTE: This file is sto red in an area of the file system that will be lost if you reset the endpoint.

38 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED I NST ALLING S OF TWARE U PGRADES Periodically , your en dpoint automatical ly checks for the following upgrades: • Firmware: Y ou are notified t hat t he up grade is starting, and the client appl icatio n continues to run.
39 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED • Operating System: The client application exits, and the upgrad e application launches. An upgrade o f the operating system takes approximat ely 30 minutes to complete. The upgrade application erases the exis ting version of the operating system from the persistent memory .
40 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED When an upgrade is available, the Software Upgrade dialog box opens, and you are prompted to install the upgrade. T o install the upgrade immediately , press OK. To install the upgrade later , you can set a reminder (see instructions below).
41 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED Placing Intercom Calls T o place an intercom call: 1. W ith or without the handset lifted, dial an extension num ber . 2. If your call goes through handsfr ee to an endpoint’ s speaker , speak after you hear a double tone.
42 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED Receiving Intercom Calls Y our endpoint can receive both intercom and non-handsfree intercom calls. If the handsfree feature is enabled on your endp oint, intercom calls are automatically answered.
43 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED Out side Calls W ith outside cal ls, you can talk to people who aren’t members of your telephone sys- tem. When you make an outside call, howeve r , you must dial any area codes or long distance digits that your telephon e company requires.
44 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED Receiving Out side Calls T o receive an outs ide call: EITHER, Lift the handset. OR, Press Answer or the ANSWER menu button. Instead of answering a ringing call, you can press one of the following menu b ut- tons: • SEND TO V -MAIL : Sends the cal l directly to your voice mailbox.

W ith your endpoint, you can trans- fer a call to another extension, voi ce mail, or even an outside line.
48 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED U SING R EVERSE T RANSFER The Reverse T ransfer (Call Pick Up) feature allows you to answer a call that is ring- ing or holdi ng at another endpoint.
49 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED Manual Call Forwarding Manual call forwarding allows you to send in coming calls to another extension num- ber . Y o u can even forward cal ls to outside numbers, if y our endpoint is programm ed to allow this.
50 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED System Forwarding System Forwarding allows the system to automatically route calls based on the type of call and the status of your telephone. Al though you cannot program the path of a system forward, you can enable or disable this feature on your endpoint.
51 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED R EDIALING A N UMBER The Redial feature allows you to quick ly redial the last outside number you dial ed. Although most phones redial the last n umber dialed , your system administrator can program your endpo int to redial the last number saved .

When the message has fini shed playing, you hav e the following option s: • Press to replay the message from the beginn ing. • Press to reply to the message. Y ou have the following optio ns: — Press to leave a voice mail message for the caller .
53 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED Undeleting Messages If you accidently delete a voice mail messa ge, you can retrieve it within a specific time frame (programmed by your vo ice mail administrator). Any retriev ed messages are then restored to your saved-message queue.

55 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED Canceling Unheard Messages Y ou can canc el unretrieved messages that y ou have sent to in dividuals, but not mes- sages that you sent to group lists. T o cancel unheard messages: 1. Access your mailbox as d escribed on page 25 .
56 Axxess ® Model 86 90 User Guide – ITP Mode GETTING ST ARTED U SING D O -N OT -D ISTURB M ODE If you are away from your d esk, or if you d o no t want to be disturbed, yo u can u se the DND feature. This halts all pages and calls to your endpoint, except queue callbacks, recalls, and direct ring-in calls.

The features in this section do not require the endpoint to be logged on to UC.
61 Axxess ® Model 8690 User Guide – ITP Mode MOVING ON Selecting a Ring T one The ability to chan ge your ring tone is helpful in close-quartered environments. If your ring tone is unique, you can quickly identify w hen a call is ringing on your end- point.
62 Axxess ® Model 8690 User Guide – ITP Mode MOVING ON Enabling Automatic Call Answer The Automatic Call Answer feature deter mines whether or not you are automatically connected to a caller when you lift the handset (or press Answer ). If this feat ure is enabled, you are automatically connected when you go off-hook.

Each number is stored on your endpoint (Station Speed Dial) or in the telephone system (System Speed Dial) and is identified by a location number .

75 Axxess ® Model 8690 User Guide – ITP Mode MOVING ON P ROGRAMMING R EMOTE F EATURE A CCESS If you are away from your desk and forgot to put your en dpoint in DND , don’t worry . W ith the Remote Feature Access, you can place your endpoint in DND or forward calls from any other endp oint on the system.

78 Axxess ® Model 8690 User Guide – ITP Mode MOVING ON W ORK ING IN H UNT G ROUP S Y our system may be pr ogrammed with “hunt gro ups.” Hunt groups are g roups of phones that share a common extension num ber in addition to having ind ividual exten - sion numbers.
79 Axxess ® Model 8690 User Guide – ITP Mode MOVING ON Logging In and Out of ACD Hunt Group s Agents can log in to and out of t he ACD hunt group at any time. W hile logged in, the agent receives calls through the ACD hunt group. When the a gent is logged out, calls to that ACD hunt group bypass the agent.
80 Axxess ® Model 8690 User Guide – ITP Mode MOVING ON When you log in to a g roup, you may be au tomatically connected to a call after you hear a short ring burst. If the ACD Agent ID Automa tic Connect option is enabled fo r your hunt group and you are using a headset, you will be automatically connected.

If the contact is an account or a device in your address book, the icon also indicates the current status.

Addi- tional details are provided when pressi ng . The messages are listed in a table contain ing the following col umns: • From: Specifies the message type.
