This installation must also conf or m to the additional require- m ents in this Slant/Fin Instruction Book.
CONT AMINA TION PREVENTION The combustion air supply must not be susceptib le to contami- nation sources, whether the comb ustion air comes from the interior or exterior of the building. Contaminated air can cause c orrosion or other damage to the heat e xchanger and compo- nents of the boiler , causing failure of these parts or unsafe operation.
Jaguar Model J-390 6 F or both direct and non-direct installation, the f ollowing must be considered: - Openings must ne ver be reduced or closed. If doors or win- dows are used f or air supply , they must be loc ked open. - Protect against closure of openings by snow and debris.
Jaguar Model J-390 7 T he vent connector on the boiler is designed to directly accom- modate either PVC/CPVC Schedule 40 pipe or the listed stain- less steel vent systems b y utilizing an adapter . The adapter has a built-in sealing ring, so no additional sealant is required.
Jaguar Model J-390 8 In this case, the maximum str aight pipe vent length that can be utilized with the 4 elbo ws would be: 100’ - (4’ x 10’) = 60’. Since the air intake pipe also is PVC and requires the use of 4 elbows , the maximum straight pipe air intake length that can be utilized is also 60 f eet.
Jaguar Model J-390 9 JAGUAR J-390 NON-DIRECT VENT , SIDEW ALL VENTING All joints must be liquid and pressure tight. Use 4” dia. PVC/CPVC schedule 40 pipe or U/L listed single wall 4" dia. Jaguar Model J-390 14 V ENT/AIR INT AKE TERMINA TION FOR PVC/CPVC V ENTING INST ALLA TION This termination is designed specifically for 4” diameter PVC or CPVC Schedule 40 pipe to be used as the vent and air intak e piping material, only . It can be used on a combustible w all, provided that the w all passage is cut out as specified in step 5.
Jaguar Model J-390 15 B. DIRECT VENT - VENTING AND AIR INT AKE THROUGH A R OOF F igure 13 shows typical v er tical venting. The vent pipe must p ass through the ceiling, floor and the roof vertically through a 8” minimum diameter cutout. A fire stop is required for each ceiling and floor penetration.
Jaguar Model J-390 16 VENTING AND AIR INT AKE SYSTEM REGULAR INSPECTION A. Inspect the system regularly for condensation, corrosion, sagging and/or ph ysical damage. A qualified professional should ser vice the boiler annually and include such an i nspection at that time.
Jaguar Model J-390 17 A t 30 ft. length of pipe, match required capacity from table on t his page (choose higher capacity , in this case is 590 cu. ft. per hour). Required pipe size is 1 1 ⁄ 4 ". I mproper gas pipe sizing will result in flame outages, insuffi- cient heat and other installation difficulties.
