3 Connecting the Cor dless Handset Char g er 1 Conn ect th e AC adapte r to th e cord less handset c harger . 2 Plug the A C adapter into a standar d 120 V A C outlet. Fit the cord into the holders. Installing and Char ging the Batter y 1 Connect the bat tery co nnect or ➊ , an d th en place the ba tt ery pac k in the cord less handset.
4 3 Place the cor dless handset in the charge r with the dial pad facing fo rw ard . • Impor tant! The dial pad must f ace f orward, or the b attery will not charge. • The battery charges automatical ly while the cordless handset is in the ch arger .
5 Registeri ng the Cor dless Handset PLEAS E REGISTER After the initial charging, the cordless hands et displa y shows: T o use the cordless handset, y ou must first regi ster it using the fax machine. 1 On the cord less handset, hold do wn until the displa y at right appears.
6 The f ax machine is identified by the number “0”, and the cordless hands et that w as included w ith the f ax is identifi ed by the n umber “1 ”. Entering a Name f or the Cor dless Handset Enter a name f or the cordless handset in the f ax machine.
7 6 Enter the name b y pr ess ing nu mbe r ke ys f or each letter as sho wn in t he chart below . Up to 10 character s can be entered. Example: BILL = 22 444 555 555 ♦ T o enter two l etters in succession th at require the sam e key , pr ess after entering the first l etter .

9 Deleting a c ordless handset If you wish to stop using a cor dless handset, f ollow thes e steps to delete it (cancel th e registr ation in the f ax machine). 1 On the cord less handset, hold do wn until the displa y at right appears. 2 Press on the cordless handset.
