105 System rack installation Aside from its tower configuration, the Altos G701 server syst em can also be mounted in a rack-model position. A rack mount kit is available for customers who want to convert a tower-mounted system to rack-model design.

Appendix B Rack insta llation guide 104 Installing cage nuts Cage nuts are use to secure syste ms and ot her components to the vertical rails in the rack. T o install c age nuts: 1 Insert the lower lip of the ca ge nut over the bottom of the opening at the back of a rail.
105 Installing the system into the rack T o install the syst em into the ra ck: 1 Remove the front bezel from the server . Refer to “Removing the front bezel” on pag e 33 for instructions. 2 Remove the top panel of the server . (1) Use a screw driver to remove the two r ear screws holding the top panel to the chassis.
Appendix B Rack insta llation guide 106 (3) Pull out the rubber stands from the server . There are two sets of rack bracket and mo un ting rail. The rack brackets are used to attached the mo unting ra ils to the server . Each bracket is composed of three pieces: a de tachable inner rail and a fixed middle and outer ra ils.
107 Do the same thing to the other rack bracket. 5 Attach the inner ra ils to the top and bottom side of the server . (1) Align the inner rail to th e five screw holes located on the bottom si de of the server . (2) Secure the rail to the server using M4 x L5 screws.
Appendix B Rack insta llation guide 108 6 Attach the two side handle s to the server using four hex head screws for each handle. 7 Set the server aside. 8 Attach the rack brackets to the mounting rails. a Align the rack brackets to the mo unting ra il unti l the six sc rew holes become visible.
109 Attach the other rack bracket to the remaining mounting rail. 9 Install the mounting rails to the rack using four M6 x L10 screws for each mounting rail.

111 Caution! T o avoid personal injury , care should be taken when pressing the component rail re lease latches and sliding the component into the rack.
