Getting started 15 Using the Startup Wi zard Once you have installed Dig ital Scrapbo ok Artist, you're ready to start scrapbooking! By default, a Se r if Digital Scrapbook Ar tist item is added to the All Programs submen u of the Windows Start menu.

If you want to get started quickly, selecting a D igikit theme will help you to create your first scrap book in j ust a few easy steps.

Running horizontally along the lower edge of the w orkspace, the Pages tab displays the pages y ou chose to a dd to your scrapbook .
20 Getting started Saving your work The first time you sa ve your w ork: 1. On the Standard toolbar, click Save . 2. I n the Save As dialog: The Fil e name text box display s the name you ty ped in the Digikit Browser di alog. To s ave your s crapbook with different file name, ty pe it here.
Getting started 21 2. I n the Open dialog, browse to and selec t the photos yo u want to add to your scr apbook. To select multipl e adjacent files, p res s and hold down th e Shift key, cl i ck the first file in the list, a nd then click the last file.

Getting started 23 - or - To add an entire word o r phrase all at o nce, type yo ur text into the box at the bottom o f the tab, and then click Insert . To add a sp ecial character t o your p age, you will nee d to drag it directl y from the Lett ers tab.
24 Getting started To work with gro uped and ungrouped letters: To move an individual letter or a group of letters, simply d rag it. To resize a letter or group, select i t, and then drag a corner handle. To rotate a letter or group, select it, and then drag its rotate handle.

Scroll the tab to find the i tem you wa nt to add, and then drag it o nto your page. 3. To move, resize, rota te, or delete an item , use the methods described above in Adding s c rapbook letters .

S elect a Digikit from which you want to add brushes, e .g., Enchanted. 3. S croll to the Brushes category, and then click to sele c t the brush(es) you want to use.

94 Working with pho tos 3. A 3 x 3 grid is superimposed on to p of the ph oto. 4. Drag an edge handle to crop the p hoto. As you do so , the grid repositions itself. 5. Click and drag on the cropped pho to to pan the image. To zoom into or out of the image, use the Zoom to ols displayed to the right of the photo.

Working with photos 97 Locking cont rols Protect your ap plied filters from ac cidental change, then op tionally apply them to other images on selection . PhotoLab includes filter tabs, a main to olbar, and an applied filter stack around a central worksp ace.
98 Working with pho tos Filters are stored in th e F avou rite s , Adju stme nts , and Effects filter tabs, and are grouped into categories. For example, the Adju stments tab provides the Qui ck Fix and Pro Edit categories, while the Effe cts tab offers a wide range of creative effect categories.
Working with photos 99 To apply one o f the default filters, click its Enable/Disable control to enable i t, and then adju st the filter settings by dragging the sliders.
100 Working with ph o tos The most recently added filter al ways appears at the bottom of the stack. (See To reorder filt ers , belo w.) Disable, reset, an d/or delete filters in the F ilters stack. (See below .) Use zoom in/out butto ns or a percentage mag nification fo r detailed work.
Working with photos 101 Ret ou ch ing PhotoLa b's main toolbar pro vides some useful retouching too ls. These are commonly used to correct ph otos bef ore applyi ng c olour correction and effects. Red - e ye tool , to remove red eye from a human subject.
102 Working with ph o tos To apply a mask: 1. F rom the Mask drop - down menu, select New Mask . 2. I n the Tool Se tting s pane, select the Add Region tool. 3. Ad just the settings to suit your requirements. For ex ample, adjust Brush S ize to paint larger or mo re intricate regions.
Working with photos 103 5. Using the circular cursor, paint th e regions to be masked (selected areas are painted in green; p rotected areas in red). If you've not been as acc urate as you'd lik e while pa inting, click Remove Regio ns then paint over the unwanted painted regi ons.
