5 Safety instructions y Please read these instructions carefully and completely before using the radio microphone. y Make these instructions easily accessible to all users at all times. Always include these instructi ons when pass ing the radio microphone on to third parties.
6 Intended use of the radio microphone Intended use includes y having read these instructions especiall y the chapter “Safety instructions”. y using the radio microphone within the operating conditions as described in these instructions.

9 Indications and displays Operation and battery status indication The LED (ON/LOW BAT) provides information on the current operating s tate of the radio micr ophone: LED lit up: The radio microphone is switched on and the capacity of the power pack is suffic ient.
10 Preparing the radio microphone for use Inserting, removing and changing the power pack For powering the radio microp hone , you can either use the Sennheiser B 5000 battery box (1.5 V AA size batteries) or the rechargeable Sennheiser BA 5000 battery pack.
11 Inserting batteries into the B 5000 battery box To ensure the longest operating time possible, only use alkaline manganese batteries for the B 5000 battery box.

13 Switching the radio microphone on/off Note: y Remove the batteries or the battery pack when the radio mi- crophone will not be used for extended periods of time.
14 Doing a frequency check The radio microphone has a frequency check mode that prevents that the radio microphone transmi ts on an unwanted frequency after switch-on. If you want to select another frequency, proceed as follows: Release the red button .

16 The automatic lock mode (autolock function) The radio microphone has a lock mode that prevents that the radio microphone is accidentally pr ogrammed while operating.
17 W orking with the operating menu The operating menu has three m odes: y Display mode In display mode, you can display the current menu settings one after the other – even when the lock mode is activated. y Selection mode In selection mode, you can sele ct the menu whose setting you want to change.
18 Af ter switch-on After switch-on, the standard display is shown on the display panel. Depending on the setting, the transmission frequency, the channel number or the name of t h e radio microphone is displayed.
19 The following menu s are availabl e: Changing to the setting mode of a selected menu Adjusting a setting Use the multi-fu nction switch to adjust the setting of the selected menu. By briefly sliding the mult i-function switch to the position (UP) or (DOWN), the display jump s either forwards or backwards to the next setting.
20 Storing a setting With most menus, new settings become effecti ve immediately without having to be stored. An exception are the “ TUNE ” and “ CHAN ” menus. With these menus, new settings on ly become effective after they have been stored (“STORED” appears on the display panel, indicat ing that the setting has been stored).
21 Overview of the operating menu Deactivate the lock mode before ad just ing the settings (see “Deactivating the autolock functi on tempor arily” on pag e 16). Pressing the red button will cancel your en try (ESC function) and return you to the display mode.

23 Adjustment tips for the operating menu Selecting a channel – CHAN Via the “ CHAN ” menu, you can switch between the channels in the channel banks “FIX“ and “VAR“. The radio microphone is not transmitting while this ad justment is being made.
24 There are two options for setting the frequencies: y You can set a new frequen cy for the selected channel: y You can change to a different channel and set a new frequency for the new channel: In the selection mode of the “ TUNE ” menu, press the multi-function switch (switch position SET ).
25 Entering a name – NAME Via the “ NAME ” menu, you can enter a freel y selectable name for the radio microphone. This name can be displa yed on the standard display and can con sist of up to six characters suc h as: y letters (without pr onounciation marks), y numbers from 0 to 9, y special characters and spaces.
26 Microphone sensitivity of the SKM 5200 and the SKM 5000: Adjusting the low-cut frequency – LOWCUT To reduce unwanted low-freque ncy nois e such as en gine, wind and rumble noise, you can activa te a low-cut filter. The lo w-cut frequency can be set to 190 Hz or 120 Hz.
27 Activating/deactivating the automatic lock mode – LOCK The radio microphone has an auto lock function ( automatic lock mode) that can be activat ed or deactivated via the “ LOCK ” menu. When the autolock function is activated, the lock mode is automatically activate d 10 second s after pre ssing the last button.

29 Tips for optimum receptio n y The transmission range depends to a large extent on the location and can be u p to 150 m. There should be a “free line of sight” between transmitting and receiving antennas. y T o avoid overmodulating the receiver, observe a minimum distance of 5 m between trans mitting and receiving antennas.
