1 Chapter 1 Device Introduction Thanks for purchasing AVerMe dia’s product. The table below li sts an overview of the product you purchased. From this tabl e, you can quickly learn about your produ ct features and know whi ch chapter you need to read.
2 Chapter 2 AVerTV 6 Introduction Now, with this product , you can watch TV, listen to the radio, record your favorite programs and enjoy other features on your PC.
3 Chapter 3 Introducing the AVerTV Application The AVerTV 6 application allows you to watch TV o r video, and record still or motion video on your PC while you work on y our computer. 3.1 Launching the AVerTV 6 Application Run the AVerT V 6 application from the Programs menu.
4 3.2 Running the AVerTV 6 application for the first time If this is your first time running th e application, the Setup dialog box will appear to prompt you to scan for chann els. (For detail s, please refer to th e section Scannin g Channels ). Note: Using the application in Russi a, scanning for channels m ay be skipped.
5 3. Click New and the Pro gram List dialog box will appear. Ty pe in the desirable n ame and click OK . 4. Click Program Scan to search for available channels/programs in your area. (This picture is only for reference) 5. After scanning, th e active T V channel s will be listed insid e the box.
6 3.3 Introducing the User Interface The TV monitor allows you to watch live TV or video. 1 Panel On / Off 8 Channel Up/Down 2 Playback Seek Slider 9 Resize Window 3 Play / Pause 10 Show / Hide Video .
7 3.4 The Control Panel The table below d escribes the fun ctions of the buttons on the Control P anel. BUTTON FUNCTION 1 Channel Loop Return to pr eviously accessed channel. 2 Multi-Channel Preview Display 4 ~ 64 consecu tive TV channels on the TV Mon itor window.
8 18 Next File Play the next file in the playlist. 19 TimeShift / Pause Performs b ackground recording of the live TV progr am. This function lets you view the recorded parts, while at the same time, recording is in progress. / Freeze the playba ck temporarily.
9 3.5 Remote Control You can use remote control to turn on/off the pr ograms, select channels, adjust volume and so on. Note: To contro l two or more than two cards/devices with a remote contro l, it is recommen ded to enable the multiple infrared receiver function fi rst.

15 3.5.5 Remote Control Buttons (Model RM-KV) Button Description (1) Turn on/off the application. (2) Turn off/on the soun d. (3) Use numeric buttons to select a cha nnel. (4) Display TV in full screen. (5) Change between a vailable audio m odes. (6) Volume up / Volum e down.
16 (12) Play the selected file or temporarily freeze t he playback. (13) - Go to the previo us item in the playlis t. - Set the time to bring your computer out of St and By or Hibernate mode. (14) Move backwar ds in intervals. (15) Skip forward in intervals.
17 Note : Stand By: Stand By is a state in which your m onitor and hard disks turn off, so that y our computer us es less powe r. Hibernate : Hibernation is a state in w hich your computer shuts down to save power but first saves everything in memory on your hard disk.
18 Sleep 30/60/90/120 Minute(s) Your computer will go into Stand By or Hib ernate mode in 30/60/90/120 minutes. Now Your comp uter will go into Stand By or Hibern ate mode in about 10 seconds. Cancel Your co mputer will re turn to original settings. 4.
19 2. To re-define a function for a certain button: ● Select a desired button and choose a new command from the right pane of the dialog box. Then click Assign . ● Fro m the right pane of the dialog box, drag t he desired command and drop it on the remote button which you want to change the definition.
20 3.11 Customize the Remote Control Source Button On the Remote Source Control pag e, you may customize the remote control “Source” button to switch on the selected item. 1. Click the Setup button an d in the Setup dialog box, select Input Setting in the left p ane.
21 To re-define the mouse: 1. Click the Setup button and in the Setup dialog box, select Input Setting in the left pan e. Then click on the Mouse icon on the left pane. 2. To re-define a function for a certain button, select Wheel Up , Wheel Down or One-Clic k and the desired item from the drop-down l ist.
22 (This picture is only for reference) 5. Click Default if you want to revert to the factory setting. 6. Click Apply to save settin gs or click Ca ncel to abort without settings. Note : It is recommended to use an unass ign ed key to use as your new keys.
23 3. Then select OSD . In this page, you can choose the TV system from the drop-down list for different display information on the TV monit or. Right click on the TV m onitor. When a pop-up me nu appears, select Individual Channel Setting .

26 3. In the Record area on the same page, you can sel ect the input source to use from the drop-down menu. Note : The input and output choices in the drop-down menu of the Playback and Record area may not be exactly the same in different PCs.
27 2. Under Windows Vista sy stem, if you choose Overlay Mi xer, the Aero Effect will be affected. Then if you select VMR again, y ou will be aske d to restart the app lication to re-en able Aero Effect. 3. Click Apply to save setting s or click Cancel to abort without settings.
28 Chapter 4 TV In this chapter, we will introduce methods to scan programs, select a TV/Radio program, create a group and so on. 4.1 Analog TV 4.1.1 Scanning Channels If you didn’t complete t he channel scann ing when you first ran the application, p lease follow these steps t o complete t his procedure.
29 The application comes with a default frequency table therefore the applicat ion will use this table to search for active chan nels/progr ams. I f you want to te rminate th e searchin g process, just click Stop. 5. You can check the scanning progress from th e progress bar.
30 3. When a warning mes sage appear s, click Yes to continue the procedure or click No to abort this operation. 4. After scann ing, new active channels/prog rams will b e memorized and listed in the left pane of the dialog box. 5. Click Apply to s ave the scann ed channels.
31 (This picture is only for reference.) 5. Click New and the Format dialog box appears. In the Format dialog box, select the file format you want and en ter the desi red name in the text box . Click Next . 6. In the Video dialog box, you can set the vide o format and audi o format.

34 AVI AVI is the mo st common video fil e format fo r playback o n the computer . It can be saved in unco mpressed form if you want high quality video, or compressed using any of the available codecs if you want to min imize the file size. WAV A common audio file format for Wi ndows co mputers.

If you just want to adjust color of o ne specific chann el, select Configure the settings only for single channel and repeat step 3.
39 4.1.6 Enhancing the Video Quality This function can reduce noise. Choose an appropriate opt ion listed below. z Video Quality Enhancement Enable: Acti vate to improve the video qual ity. z Video Quality Enhancement Di sable: Disable the video quality enhancement functi on.

From the De-Interlace drop-down list , try all the options to compare which can give y ou the best quality. 4.2 Digital TV 4.2.1 Scanning Channels If you didn’t complete t he channel scann ing when you first ran the application, p lease follow these steps t o complete t his procedure.
41 4. Then Click Program Scan to start the scanning proc ess. The application comes with a default frequency table therefore the applicat ion will use this table to search for active chan nels/progr ams. I f you want to te rminate th e searchin g process, just click Stop.

Note : All F requencies Scanning may take you a while. Please be patient. 3. Once you select Single Frequency , you need to specify the correct Frequency, for example 533000 (KHz), and Bandwidth .

The WMA/WMV files ar e allowed to be customi zed (For Advanced Use rs): 1. Follow the previou s steps, but choo se the WMA or WMV file for mat in step 3.

45 (This picture is only for reference.) Our EPG window also allows you to preset a sche dule fo r watching or recording programs. Just select your favorite pr ograms and click Record button or the Active TV Application button . And the system wil l execute your co mmand on schedule.

47 4.3 Adding and Deleting Program Lists Selecting a program list allows you to switch bet ween the channels of the selected program list only when pres sing the Channel Up/Dow n button. If you want to add or delete a program list, do the following: To add a new program list: 1.
48 4.4 Selecting a TV/Radio Channel There are three way s of switching bet ween TV/Radio chann els: ◆ Click the Channel U p/Down buttons ( on the TV monitor window or on the Control Panel) repeatedly until reaching yo ur desired channel. ◆ Click to open the Numeric Panel (as shown at right) .

Hold down Sh ift or Ctrl key and click the channels fro m the list to select your o wn channe l line up, then click to add your selection to the d esired group.
50 (This picture is only for reference.) 5. If you just want to adjust individual volume level, sel ect Configur e the settings o nly for single channel and repeat step 3 and 4 to increase or decrease volum e. 6. To apply the converted settin gs to all channels, click Apply All button .
51 4.8 Modifying A Program List Name You can change a program lis t name easi ly. To rena me a program list, follow th e steps described below: 1. Click th e Setup button and in the Setup dialog box, click Analog TV or Digital TV icon on the left p ane.
52 4.9 Removing Unwanted Channels If you want to ex clude unwan ted channels f rom your channe l list, do the following: 1. Click the Setup button and in the Setup dialog box, click th e Analog TV or Digital TV icon on the left pane. 2. Click Advance locat ed at the right-l ower corner in th e Program Informa tion section.
53 2. Clear the En able check box so th at you will not access that channel when you press Channel Up/Do wn buttons. 3. However, you can stil l see the chan nel in your program li st. If you wan t to watch that channel agai n some day just select t he Enable check box.
54 9. Clear Overcan check box if you wan t to disable overscan function. You can see the difference from the pictures below: Before using OverScan function After using OverScan function 4.11 Using Magic Video Effect (Preview Onl y) The magic video effect c an avoid disto rtion when r esizing an image to any aspect rat ios.

56 The multi-channel previe w function can disp lay 4~64 TV channels on -screen at the same time. (By default, 16 TV ch annels will be display ed. ) You can see clearly which TV pro grams are currently sh owing on these ch annels. To select the chann els for previ ew: 1.
57 To modify the multi-ch annel preview setting s: 1. Click the Setup button and in the Setup dialog box, select Multi-Channel Preivew on the left pane. 2. Here you can determine preveiw cell nu mb ers from the drop-down list (2x2~8x8). 3. You can also sp ecify the previ ew delay ti me (1~99 se c) in the text box.

59 4.13 Changing Signal Source There are two way s to change signal source: ․ To switch between TV and ra dio / external video signals, click th e Radio Source button or Video Source button on the control p anel. ․ Right click on the left pane of the control p anel and a pop-up menu appears.
60 1. Right click on the TV monitor. When a pop-up menu appears, select Individual Channel Set ting . Or c lick Program List button on the control panel and then click Individual Channel Setting button . 2. When a dialog box ap pears, select Color Adjustment tab.
61 Chapter 5 FM Radio 5.1 FM Radio Controls Click the FM Radio button to listen to y our favorite radio station programs. Use the following button controls for selec ting FM radio channels, adju sting volume, scanning FM ch annels, record ing radio programs and more.
62 5.2 How to Auto Scan FM Radio Channels If this is your first time to use FM radio, perfo rm auto scan to search an d memorize active FM radio stations in y our area. To auto scan FM radio stations: 1. Click the Setup button and in th e Setup dialog box, select an av ailable AVerMedia device in the left pane.
63 2. Enter the channel frequ ency that you want to start scanning in the text box. 3. Select 0.01 MHz, 0.05MHz or 0 .1MHz as your tuning incremen t. 4. Click to scan upward or to scan downward fro m the select ed channel frequency . The scannin g will stop when the applicat ion finds the closest ACTI VE FM frequency .

65 5.7 Adding a Radio Frequency If the desired channel cannot be found through scanning, fo llow the instructions below. 1. Click the Setup button and in the Setup dialog box, click FM Radio icon o n the left pane. 2. Specify the correct frequency in the text box (as shown at right) and click Save .
66 5.9 Modifying a Radio Name You can manually modify any exiting FM radio channel. 1. Click the Setup button and in the Setup dialog box, click FM Radio icon on the left pane. 2. Double click on Name column of the exi sting FM channel whi ch you want to mod ify.
67 5.10 Adding and Deleting Program Lists Selecting a progra m list allow s you to switch be tween the c hannels of the selected program list only when pressing the Channel Up/Down button. If you want to add or delete an FM channel group, do the following: To add a new program list: 1.
68 6. Click Sav e to sav e the settings or cl ick Cancel to abort without saving. If you w ant to delete the un wanted gro up, simply cli ck Delete 5.12 Customize Audio Recording Settings To customize audio reco rding settings: 1.

Not e : To determine the length of recording and to choo se a destination folder in whi ch to save the record ed audio, please refer to the section titled Record ing Settings in Chapter 7.
70 Chapter 6 TimeShift The TimeShift function performs background record ing of a TV/Radio program, and lets you return and watch any part of the record ed program. At th e same time, th e live TV/Radio program continues to be recorded and played back so you won’ t miss any pa rt of the show .
71 (This picture is only for reference) 2. By default, TimeShift p erforms recording of the TV prog ram by creating a temporary video file and deletes this file once you click the Stop button. 3. In the Record section, you can determine your file n ame format, recordi ng time, file size and destination fold er.
72 6.3 Using the TimeShift Function To pause the liv e program: 1. Click the TimeShift button on the Control Panel. The application will b egin to record the program. 2. When you want to rewind, use th e Playback Seek slider bar to move back to the part you want to watch or l isten again.
73 Chapter 7 PVR You can use your computer as a dig ital video recorder, and record y our favorite TV programs or capture video from an external source to your hard drive. Yo u can also divide the recording files in proper sizes to facilitate burning onto remov able optical med ia, such as CD-R and DVD disc s.
74 7.2 Recording Settings Before recording, check if the settings meet your need s. 1. Click the Setup button . In the Setup dialog box, click the Storage icon on the left pane. 2. By default, the sy stem is set the recording “Dat e” and “Time” as the file na me format.
75 (2) To add more vid eo files to the pl ayback list, firs t navigate th e file on the left pane to find the folder that contains the d esired video files. When you have loca ted the folder, the media files will then b e displayed on the ri ght top pane.
76 3. In fast-forwarding playback mode, Play button will be sho wn as Pause . Click Pau se button to temporarily freeze the play back and click ag ain Play button to continue playback. 7.5 Picture-in-Picture Display With the picture-in-picture window feat ure, you will be able to play back recorded video files, and at the same time, watch live TV.
77 Chapter 8 Image Capture While you watch TV or a recorded video on your PC m onitor, you can use the AVerTV 6 applic ation to capture images for your documents, presentations or web page s. 8.1 Before Capturing Before you start capturing images , first set the d estination folder for saving captured images.
78 (This picture is only for reference.) 2. From the File Format drop-down menu, select the format for saving the captured image. 3. Choose the Colo r format. The options h ere depend on the file format you choose. • Choose 24-bit to capture image in 16M colors.
79 • If you want to set your own image size, select Customize and enter the image Width and Height . If you want to maintain relative width and height, select the Keep Ratio option. Choose a measurement unit from the Unit drop-down list. You can specify any image size you want.
80 (This picture is only for reference) 2. In the Number of Pictures box, specify the number o f images you want to captu re. 3. In the Interval Ti me box, specify the interv al between captures. For instance, if you specify 10 seconds, an image will be cap tured every 10 seconds.
81 Chapter 9 Teletext (PAL/SECAM only) T eletext ma kes TV viewing a unique experien ce. It allow s you to view teletex t broadcasts from your television programs to get th e most updated information on TV Schedules, News, Stock Market Prices, Concert & Theatre inform a tion and so on.

83 9.3 Toolbar Buttons Lock Sub page Locks the curren t sub page. The up coming transmitted sub pages will b e stored in the Tel etext Cache for l ater use.
84 The newly sel ected page nu mber will appea r on the upper left co rner of the page. So metimes, this m ay take a while to retrie ve the ne wly selec ted Te letext page. There wil l be no c hanges on the page when th ere is no page data transmitted with the n umber you have selected.
85 4. Enter a filename and click OK. Opening a Teletext Page 1. Choose Open from the File menu or press Ctrl+O . 2. From the Open dialog box, select the file containing the teletext page you want and click Open . Opening Another Teletext Window To open another tele text window, choose New Wind ow from the File menu or pre ss Ctrl+W .
86 Chapter 10 Scheduler The Sched uler allows y ou to create a list of pres et sched ules for watching and recordin g your favorite TV/Radio program s. You can set the day and time to re cord the TV/R adio program and specify the length of recording. To run this application, click the Schedule button on the Control P anel.
