CMOS set up for AT systems When you start up you r drive f or t he first time, ent er t he CMOS SETUP rou tine . This rou tine enables you to def i n e a ne w drive in the system BIOS. Howe ver, becau se the SCSI h ost adap ter BIO S han dles all I/ O pro cedu res, yo u should not attem pt to define the drive type i n the sys tem BIOS.
If yo u choo se t o low-lev el forma t your drive, use the DOS DEBUG utilit y. Th e mos t comm on DEBUG low- level form atting comman d is g=c80 0:5. Verif y the BIOS addr es s (c800) and the offse t (5) with your host adapt er ma nual. Caut ion. If you form at a drive at a ny level, you era se all y our data.
To high -level f orm at t he drive, per for m the following oper ations: 1. Use the FO RMAT utility to high- level form at the dr ive. Refer to your DO S m anua l for the FORM AT com ma nd opt ions. 2. If you are form atting the boot drive, copy the necessar y system files to t he drive.
