1. Unpack Check the package contents for the following • A vaya P120 W orkgroup Switch • A vaya P120 User ’s Guide (on the CD) • Quick Start Guide (this document) • AC power cable • RJ-45 .
2. Rack mount 1. Snap open the ends of the front panel to reveal the scr ew holes. 2. Position the unit in the rack. 3. Secure the unit to the rack, taking car e not to overtighten the screws. 4. Snap closed the hinged ends of the front panel. 5. Y ou can now safely connect cables to the device.
3. Power up 1. Connect the supplied AC power cord to the back panel power supply con- nector (see Figure opposite). 2. Connect the other end of the AC power cable to an AC power outlet (120-240 V AC, 50/60 Hz). 3. The PWR LED lights to indicate power is on, and the OPR LED lights to indicate that the CPU has booted up and is ready for operation.
4. Connect the cables Connect PCs. servers, routers, work- stations, and hubs 1. Connect the appropriate Ethernet con- nection cable (not supplied) to a 10/100 Mbps port on the front panel of the A vaya P120. Y ou can use standard RJ-45 connec- tions.
5. Perform basic configu- ration T o connect a PC terminal or VT -100 terminal to the A vaya P120 1. Connect the terminal or PC to the console port on the P120 using the supplied serial (RJ-45 to DB-9 adapter) cable.

6. Install the A vaya P120 Standalone Manager (optional) The A vaya P120 Standalone Manager allows you to configure and monitor the A vaya P120 from your PC. The manager is provided on a CD and comes with the A vaya P120 switch. System Requirements Minimum hardwar e and Operating System requir ements are: • W indows® 95 or NT® 4.
