29 English CHARGING THE BA TTER Y P A CK About rechar ging Recharging takes place only when t he camera is turned off, or when the powe r sav e function or the sleep f unction has been activ ated. Rechar ging does not tak e place when the camera is in the recording mode or pla yback mode.
English 30 SETUP TURNING THE CAMERA ON AND OFF T urning on the camera 1 Open the monitor unit, and press the ON/OFF button for at least 1 second. h If yo u press the REC/PLA Y button fo r at least 1 second, the camera turns on in the playbac k mode. h If you briefly press the ON /OFF button, once , the camera will s witch to the pow er sav e mode.
31 English TURNING THE CAMERA ON AN D OFF T urni ng on the cam era when the power save (sleep) mode is ac tive In order to preserve battery pack power , the power sav e (sleep) function will automatically turn off the camera after about 1 minute of no use during shooting, or about 5 min utes of no use during pla yback (f actor y-preset setting).

Theref ore, bef ore capturing images, mak e sure the correct date and time are set. h T o correct the date and time setting, please see unde r HINT on page 35.
