Section 2A: Y our Phone – The Basics 23 Changing the F aceplat e Removing the F aceplate 䊳 Press down on both edg es of the faceplate and slide it to remov e. Installing the F aceplate 䊳 Fit the hooks into the notc hes and slide the faceplate until it snaps into place.
24 Section 2A: Y our Phone – The Basics Making and Answ er ing Calls Making Calls Placing a call from your wir eless phone is as easy as making a call from any land line phone. Just enter the number and press , and you’ re on your w ay to clear calls.

T o select an option, highlight it and press . 䢇 Abbrev . Dial to dial the phone number in your Contacts list that ends with the digits you entered.

Press or to answer an incoming call. (Depending on your phone’ s settings, you may also answ er incoming calls by opening the phone or by pressing any n umber key .

Section 2A: Y our Phone – The Basics 29 Using the Speak er phone The speakerphone featur e lets you hear audio through the speaker and talk without holding the phone. When the speakerphone is activated, use the volume contr ol keys on the side of the phone to adjust the volume.

32 Section 2A: Y our Phone – The Basics Calling Emerg ency Numbers Y ou can place calls to 911 (dial and press ), even if your phone is loc ked or your account is restricted. When you place an emergency call, y our phone automatically enters Emergency mode.

Section 2A: Y our Phone – The Basics 35 Saving a Phone Number Y our SCP-8300 can store up to 500 phone numbers in up to 300 Contacts entries (an entr y may contain up to seven numbers). Each entry’s name can contain 16 c haracters. Y our phone automatically sorts the Contacts entr ies alphabetically .
36 Section 2A: Y our Phone – The Basics Finding a Phone Number Y ou can search Contacts list entries for phone numbers that contain a specific string of numbers. T o find a phone number: 1. Enter the last four or mor e digits of the number and press Options (r ight softkey).
Section 2A: Y our Phone – The Basics 37 T o dial or save phone numbers with pauses: 1. Enter the phone number and press Options (right softkey). 2. Highlight either Hard Pause or 2-Sec. Pause and press . (Hard pauses are display ed as a “H” and 2-second pauses as a “T”.
