3 Key Features 1. Earpiece lets you hear the caller and automated prompts. 2. Signal Strength In d icator r epresents the signal strength by displaying bars.

5 Viewing the Display Screen This list identifies the symbols you’ ll see on your phone’ s display screen: shows your current signal strength. The more lines you ha ve, the stronger y our signal. means your phone cannot find a signal. indicates the call is on hold.
6 indicates the vibrate f eature is set. indicates volume level 8 or 1 and vibr ate feature are set. indicates 1-beep featur e is set. indicates the voice call ringer setting is off. indicates all the sound settings are off. indicates the Location Service of your phone is enabled.
7 T urning Y our Phone On and Off T urning Y our Phone On T o turn your phone on: 䊳 Press . Once your phone is on, it displa ys “Looking for service... ” which indicates that your phone is searc hing for a signal. When your phone finds a signal, it automatically enters standby mode – the phone’ s idle state.
8 Using the Battery Installing the Battery T o install the LiIon battery: 1. Insert the batter y into the opening on the back of the phone at a 45-degree angle, making sur e to line up the gold contacts. Gently press do wn until the batter y snaps into place.
9 Charging the Battery Y our phone’ s LiIon batter y is rechargeable and should be ch ar ged as soon as possible so you can begin using y our phone. K eeping track of your battery’s c harge is important. If y our batter y level becomes too low , your phone automatically turns off and you will lose all the information you w ere just working on.
10 Navigating Through Phone Menus The navigation key on your phone allows you to scr oll through menus quickl y and easily . T o navigate through a menu, simply press the navigation key up or down. Y ou can change y our phone’ s main menu style (see “Changing the Phone’ s Menu Style” on pag e 40).
11 Making and Answering Calls Holding Y our Phone T o maximise performance, do not obstr uct the bottom portion of your phone where the internal antenna is located while using the phone. Making Calls T o place a call using your keypad: 1. Make sure your phone is on.
12 Dialing Options Dialing options are display ed when you press Options (right softkey) after entering number s in the phone’ s standby mode. 䢇 A bb rev . Dial to use Ph.Book Match or Pr epend featur e. (See “Using Abbr eviated Dialing” on page 21 and “Setting Abbr eviated Dialing” on page 41.
13 be answ ered in speakerphone mode.) – or – Open the phone to use the earpiece. Note: If the setting for Open Flip is set to No Action , opening the phone will not answer the call. (See “Setting the Open/Close Flip Option” on page 39.) Y our phone notifies you of incoming calls in the f ollowing ways: 䢇 The phone rings and/or vibrates.
14 T o resume the call: 䊳 Press Answer (left softkey) or . – or – Press Options (right softke y) > Answer or Answer:Speaker . (The options will appear as Answer or Select Au d io when connected to an optional hands-free device.) Ending a Call T o disconnect a call when you are finished: 䊳 Close the phone or press .
15 Changing the Ringer V olume T o change the ringer v olume, press the Side V olume key when the phone is open and in standby mode. Note: T o change the ringer volume from the main menu, see “Adjusting the Phone’ s V olume Settings” on page 28.
16 Calling Emergency Numbers Y ou can place calls to 111 (dial and press ), even if your phone is loc ked or your account is restricted. Once you dial the numbers, your phone will enter Emergency mode. Press Options (right softke y) to display the options.
17 In-Call Options During a call, your phone displays menu options when y ou press Options (right softke y). 䢇 Flash or Flash: Speaker to answ er an incoming Call W aiting call. 䢇 Mute or Unmute to mute or reactivate y our phone’ s microphone. 䢇 T ransfer Au d io to s witch the call to your desired device (if applicable).
18 End-of-Call Options T o display the following options, pr ess Options (right softke y) within 10 seconds after disconnecting a call. 䢇 Call Again to dial the phone number . 䢇 Call:Speaker On to dial the phone number in speakerphone mode. 䢇 Save Phone# to save the phone number in your Contacts list.
19 Finding a Phone Number Y ou can search Contacts list entries f or phone numbers that contain a specific string of numbers. T o find a phone number: 1. Enter the last four or mor e digits of the number and press Options (right softke y). (The more number s you enter , the more specific the searc h becomes.
20 Making International Calls With Plus Code Dialing Y our phone’ s Plus Code Dialing feature can automaticall y dial the international access code when you are trav eling outside of New Zealand. (Not available in some areas.) T o make a call using Plus Code Dialing: 1.
21 Using Speed Dialing With this f eature, you can dial your f avourite entr ies using one key press for locations 2-9. (See “ Assigning Speed Dial Number s” on page 60.) T o use speed dial for voice calls: 䊳 From standby mode, press and hold the appropriate key for approximately tw o seconds.
22 T o place a call using Prepend Abbreviated Dialing: 1. Enter the last three to ten digits of your desir ed number . 2. Press or . Note: When Prepend is set to Enable and Ph.Book Match is set to Disable, you can dial the 9-to-15-digit number (including the predefined prepend number) by entering the last three to ten digits of the number .
23 Entering T ext Selecting a Character Input Mode Y our phone provides conv enient ways to enter w ords, letters, punctuation, and numbers whenever you are prompted to enter te xt (for e xample, when adding a Contacts entr y or when sending email messages).
24 Entering Characters Using T9 T ext Input T9 T ext Input lets you enter te xt in your phone by pressing keys just once per letter . (T o select the T9 Wor d mode when entering te xt, see “Selecting a Character Input Mode” on pa ge 23.
25 Customising the T9 Settings T o customise the T9 Settings: 1. Select > Settings > Others > T ext Entry > T9 Settings . 2. Select your desired option and pr ess . 䡲 Pre d ict. T ext Mo d e to allow T9 te xt input to recognise words you hav e added to the T9 data base.

43 3. Security 3. Security Accessing the Security Menu All of your phone’ s security settings are available through the Security menu. Y ou must enter your lock code to view the Security menu. T o access the Security menu: 1. Select > Settings > Security .

53 6. Managing Call History 6. Managing Call History Viewing History Y ou’ ll find the Call Histor y feature very helpful. The y are lists of the last 20 voice calls that y ou placed, accepted, or missed. Call Histor y makes redialing a number f ast and easy .
54 Making a Call From Call History T o place a call from Call History: 1. Select > Call History , and then select Outgoing , Incoming , Misse d , or Recent Calls . 2. Use your navigation key to select a Call Histor y entr y and press or . - or - Press Options (right softke y) > Call or Call:Speaker On .
55 Prepending a Phone Number From Call History If you need to place a call from Call History and you happen to be outside your local area code, y ou can add the appropr iate prefix by prepending the number . T o prepend a phone number from Call History: 1.

T ip: The current day is framed by a rectangle. Note: In a no-service area, it’ s necessary to set the actual time and date to use the Calendar function.

80 9. V oice Services Setting Up Screen Call This featur e enables you to scr een incoming calls by using a recorded announcement, either one that is pre-recor ded or one that you recor d. Y ou can also record the caller’ s message into the V oice Memo list.
81 Recording Y our Name for a Pre-Recorded Announcement Y ou can use a pre-recor ded announcement with or without your name. If you record your name, y our phone uses your name to announce that you are not a vailable to ans wer the call. T o record your name: 1.

83 10. Messaging 10. Messaging Understanding Messaging Message Storage Y our phone can store up to 200 receiv ed and 180 sent messages. When the message memory is full, the oldest unlocked message will be deleted automatically .

88 11. Built-in Camera 11. Built-in Camera T aking Pictures T aking pictures with your phone’ s built-in camera is as simple as choosing a subject, pointing the lens, and pressing a button. Y ou can activate camera mode and take pictur es whether the phone is open or closed.
89 11. Built-in Camera T o take a picture with the phone closed: 1. Press and hold the side camera key to activate camera mode. 2. Point the camer a lens at your subject.
90 11. Built-in Camera Setting the Self-T imer T o activate the Self-T imer: 1. From camera mode, select Options (right softkey) > Self-T imer . 2. Select the length of delay y ou want the timer to use ( 10 Secon d s or 5 Secon d s ) and press . T o deactivate the self-timer , select Off .
91 11. Built-in Camera Using the Zoom This featur e allows you to zoom in on an object when y ou take a picture. Depending on your resolution settings, you can adjust the zoom from 1x to 8x for medium r esolution, and 1x to 20x for low resolution (not availab le for high r esolution).
