English 5 1 BEFORE USE Notes on handling the internal HDD This digital video recorder uses an internal hard disk drive (HDD). Be sure to observe the following points carefully when operating, setting-up, or servicing the digital video recorder. Do not subject the digital vid eo recorder to sudden impact or vibration.
BEFORE USE 1 6 English INTRODUCTION The hard disk and cooling fan are consumable components. If used in an ambient temperature of 25ºC, the hard disk should generally be replaced after 2 years; and the cooli ng fan after 3 years.

10 English INTRODUCTION 3 INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS This section describes how to connect the digita l video recorder to video cameras and other devices. Be sure to read the instruction manual s for each connected device. z Improper connections can result in malfunction or th e emission of smoke.
INSTALLATION AND CONNE CTIONS 3 English 11 The sensor alarm output terminals are used to rela y alarm signals whenever o ne of the d igital video recorder’s motion sensors is triggered. Normally in an open con dition, a terminal adopts low condition when a sensor for the corresponding camera numb er has been triggered.

RECORDING 3 20 English OPERATION Use the following procedure to auto matically record al arm video to the alarm recording area whe n an alarm signal is detected. Recording will not be possible until a time has been se t for the digital video recorder.
RECORDING 3 English 21 Use the following procedure to record video from immediately before occurrence of an alarm. 1 Set pre-alarm recording. Follow the instructio ns on P.68 set “7. ALARM REC MODE SET” from <RECORD SET> to “P RE-ALARM RECORDING”.

If pre-alarm video is being recorded, playback will start from immediately before the alarm. 1 Press the [SEARCH] button while the digital video recorder is recording or stopped.

76 English SETTINGS 4 GENERAL SET The <GENERAL SET> is used to make the following settings. Use the following procedure to remove the date, time, or other information from the opera ti on display area. All items are set to “ON” by de fault. Where necessary, th e required items can be turned off.

SCREEN SET 5 92 English SETTINGS Use the following p rocedure to set vi deo from a specific camera (including playba ck video) to be masked by a gray pattern when it is not to be shown on a monitor screen. Example: Preventing the d isplay of unneeded camera video at the set period (as indicated by TIME PERIOD A and TIME PERIOD B).
