5 Activating Y our Phone When you subscrib e to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscri ption details, su ch as y our PIN, available optional serv ices, and many others features.
Getting Started 6 Activating Y our Phone 4. Carefull y slide the SIM card i nto the SIM card socket until the card locks into place. Make sure that the card’ s gold contact s face into the phone a nd that the upper-left angled co rner of th e card is positioned as shown below .

Earpiece allows you t o hear the oth er caller and the different ring tones or sounds offered by your phone. 2. 21 • Call back : Places a call back to the number . • Send m essage : Allows you to send a T ext message, Picture message, or Voice note to the number . • Add to Phonebook : Stores the number in your Phone memory , onto your SIM card, or you r SIM card (FDN).
Call Functi ons 22 Call Records Call R ecor ds All inco ming, outgoing and missed calls are listed in th e Call Record s. Y ou can also view Call time records. 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access the Menu mode. 2. Using the Na viga tion keys, scroll to the Call records icon and press the Select soft key or the key to enter the m enu.
23 Viewing Missed Calls When yo u are unable to ans wer a call for any reason, you can fi nd out who is ca lling you, if t his ser vice is av ailable, so that you can call the person back. The number of calls yo u have missed displa ys on the idle scre en immediately after a call is missed.
Call Functi ons 24 Call Records Delete all This menu allows you to delete all of the records in e a ch call record separately , or you can delete all of your c all records at one time. 1. Highlight the type of calls you want to delete and press the key to make a check ma rk.
25 Silent Mode Silent Mode is convenient when you wish to stop the pho ne from making any noise, in a thea ter for exam ple. In Idle mod e, press and h old the key unti l the “Sil ent Mo de On” message and the Silent Mode icon ( ) ar e displayed. In Silent Mode , instead of sounds, your phone will vibrate.

39 Changing the T e xt Input Mode When using your phone, you will often need to enter text, such as when storing a name in your Phonebook, creating your pe rsonal greeting or sched uling events on your calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using you r phone’ s keypad.
Entering T ext 40 Using T9 Mode The following o ptions are available: : T9 mode : Number mode : Symbol mode : ABC mode 3. When the T ext input mode indicator that you desi re is displayed, you may enter text in the t ext messa ge box using the selected text input mode.
41 3. Enter the word you want to ad d using ABC mode. For more information, refer to "Changing the T ext Input Mode" on page 39. 4. Press the OK soft key or the key after you have finishe d entering the new word. The word is added to the T 9 dict ionary and becomes a word for the associated keypress series.

47 Finding a Phonebook Entr y Y ou can store phone numbers and their corre s ponding nam es onto either you r SIM card or phone’ s built-in memory . They ar e physically separate but are used as a single ent ity , called Phonebook .

Press the Select soft key or the key to enter your Phonebo ok. 3. Scroll to Speed dial by pre ssin g the Up or Down Navigation key and press the Select soft key or the key .

51 Deleting all of the Phonebook Entries Y ou can delete all your entries from your pho ne’ s memory , your SIM card, FDN, or All. Important!: Once Phonebook entries ha ve been dele ted, they cann ot be recove red. 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to acce ss the Menu mode.
Understandin g Y our Phonebook 52 Finding My Own Phone Number Finding My Ow n Phone Number This function is a memory ai d, which you can use to ch eck your own phone numb er if you need to do so. Y ou can assign a name to ea ch of your own phone n umber s registered on your SIM card.
53 Management The Management menu al lows you to selec t where your contacts will be saved, copy your SIM contacts to your phon e , delete your cont acts, sort by contacts, or check y our memory status. Default Saving The Def ault Saving option allows you t o choose whe r e your contacts will be saved.

Y ou can enter up to 160 standar d Alphabet charac ters per pa ge in your mess age. The me ssage c an be up to 12 pages lo ng for a total of 1920 characters.

63 Viewing a Picture Messa ge from the Inbo x 1. Highlight an unretriev ed picture message from the list and press the Options soft k ey . T he following op tions will appear: • Retrieve : begins the process of retrieving the picture message from the voice mail server and preparing it for viewing.
Messages 64 Inbox • Save address: allo ws you to cut and p aste the address to send a text messa ge, or picture me ssage. • Save me dia: allows you to save messa ge media to your Im age folder , Sound folder , vCard, or vCalendar . • Lock: allows you to pr otect the message from being deleted .
65 • Save medi a : allows you to save message media to your Imag e folder , Sound fold er , vCard, or vCalendar . • Lock/Unlock : allows yo u to protect the messa ge from being del eted.
Messages 66 Outbox Outbo x This message box stores messages that yo u ha ve attempted to send but have not actually been sent yet. When you enter this menu, the list of messages in the box displays with the recipients’ phone numbers or names, if available i n your Phoneb ook.

69 Pictur e message The following options are used to set Send and Receive settings for Picture messages. Send Settings • Delivery repo rt : when this opt ion is enab led, the network info rms you whether or not your message ha s been delivered.
Messages 70 Instant Messaging (IM) Instant Messaging (IM) Instant Messaging is a way of sendin g sho rt, simple messages tha t are delivered immediate ly to users onli ne at that moment. Before us ing this f eature, you n eed to sub scribe to a messenger serv ice.

77 For example, if you set On for 30 sec and Dim for 5 sec , after 30 seconds the backlight on the keys would turn off and 5 seconds later the display light wou ld turn off. 1. Press the Left or Right Naviga tion keys to cha nge each field’ s s e ttings.
Changing Y our Settings 78 Sound Settings Calendar This opti on allows yo u to On (enable) or Off (disable) th e calendar di splay for your background wallpaper . Show caller infor mation By turning this option on, wh en you miss an incoming call, info rmation such a s the caller name is displ ayed on your screen when your missed calls are listed.
79 The following o ptions are availabl e: • Melody : the phone rings using the ring melody selected i n the Rin gtone menu. • Vibratio n : th e phone vibrates b ut does not ring. • V ibration then melody : the phone vibra tes 3 times and th en starts ringing.
Changing Y our Settings 80 Bluetooth The following opti ons are available : • Indic ative tones : generates a tone whenever a pop-up windo w appears on the screen. • Minute mind er : sets whether or not the phone beep s every mi nute during an outgoing call to keep you informed of the length of yo ur call.
81 Help This options takes you to the T -Mobile Help menu in t-zones. Netw or k Ser vices Call forw ar di ng This network service enables incoming calls to be re-ro uted to a secondary number that you spec ify . Example: Y ou may wish to forwa rd your busine ss calls to a colleag ue while yo u are on hol iday .

85 Loc k applicatio n Using this menu, you can lock your applic atio ns which p rovide a ccess to in formation such as call records, phon ebook, messag es, images, and sounds. Once you have locked the contents, you must e nter the phone’ s password to acce ss the ass ociated menus.

89 • Delete : allows yo u to delete the sel e cted sound or multiple sounds. • Rename : allo ws you to change the name of the s ound. • Lock : allows you to lock the sound to protect it from deletion. • Properties : displays the sound name, da te, form at, length, size, and Lock/Unlock.
Fun & Apps 90 Files More Wallpapers Using the More W allpapers option, allows yo u to acce ss the T -Mobile website and download new images using the t-zone browser . 䊳 Highlight the Wallpaper op tion and press the key . Note: When downloading Wallpapers, ch arges may ap ply .
91 Do wnloaded i m ages This menu allows you to access your downlo aded images. Scroll to the image you want to view . By pressing the Options soft key you can access the following opt ions: • Download new : opens y o ur web browser where you can download new images.
Fun & Apps 92 Games Memor y Status Y ou can check the amount of memor y being used and me mory remaining for sounds and images. Press th e Left or Right naviga tion keys to scro ll betwe en the memory status of Sounds and Images.
93 Camer a For information on usi ng your camera, see "C amera" on page 101. Or ganizer The Organiz er allows you to set alarms, schedule appointments, view the calenda r , create T asks, perform simple math calcul ations, che ck world time, perform unit conversions, set a time r , and use a stopwatch.

99 Wo r l d T i m e This feature allows you to find out what time it is anot her part of world, using the Left and Right Navigation keys. There are tw o time lines availa ble. Y ou can set the first setti ng to your ho me city and then use the second setting to check other city times.
