7 Ge t s t a r t e d First st eps to operati ng your phone USIM/S IM ca rd in f or ma t io n When you subscribe to a cellular network, you receive a plug-in SIM (Subscriber Identity Modul e) card loaded wit h your subscription details, such as yo ur PIN, and available optional services.

G et started 12 Access menu functions Use the soft k eys The roles of the soft ke ys vary depending on the function you are using. The bottom line of the display indicate s their curren t role. Press the lef t soft key to select the highlighted option.

Step outside the phone 20 Send messages 1. In Idle mode, press [ OK ] and select Contacts . 2. Enter the first few le tte rs of the name you want. 3. Select a contac t from the Contac ts li st. 4. Scrol l to a number and press [ ] to dial, or press [ OK ] to edit contact information.

Step outside the phone 24 Switch applications Y ou can switch to other applicat ions from a menu, without closing the menu screen you were using. 1. Access an applicat ion, Contacts , My fi les , Calendar , Memo , or Tasks . 2. Select the item you want to send.
S tep outside t he phone 25 Use a memory card Y o u can use an optional microSD memory card to increase your phone’s m emory capacity . • Frequent er as ing and writing will short en a card’ s lifespan. • Do not remo v e a card from the phone or turn off the phone while data is being accessed or transferred.

27 E nter text Pinyin, Stroke, ABC, T9, Number, and Symbol modes Y ou can enter text in some featur es, such as Messages, Contacts, or Organiser , by using Pinyin and Stroke modes for Chinese, and T9 and ABC modes for English. Y ou can also enter num be rs and sym bols.
28 Ent e r t e xt Using Chinese Stroke mode This mode allows you to enter individual Chinese strokes, in written order , from top to bottom, and from left to right. The Chinese strok es are classified into five basic categories; heng, shu, pie, dian, and zhe.
Ent er t e xt 29 Using ABC mode Press the appropriate key until t he character you want appears on the screen. Other ABC mode operati ons • T o enter the same letter twice or to enter a differen t letter on the same ke y , wait for the cur sor to mov e to the right automatically or press [R ight].

32 Call functions Answering a call When you receive an incoming call, the phone rings and displays the incoming call image. Press < Accept > or [ ] to answer the call. Tips for a nswering a call • When Slide up in Slide settings is set to Accept call , you can simply open the phone.
Call functions 33 Placing a call on hold/Retrieving Press < Hold > to place a call on hold, or press < Retrieve > to retrie ve the ca ll. Making a second call Y o u can make another call if your network supports this function. 1. Press < Hold > to put the call on hold.
34 Call functions • Whisper mode on / Whisper mode off : turn on or off Whisper mode. Whisper mode automatically increases the microphone's sensitivity t o allow the other person to hear your voice even though you ma y be whispering. • Join : set up a multi-party call by adding a caller on hold to a currently acti ve call.
Call functions 35 account number when you call an automated system, like a banking service. • Contacts : locate or store contacts in Contacts. • Add to Contacts : add the se nder’ s number to Contacts. • View contact details : access the contact in format ion, if th e caller is save d in Contacts.
36 Call functions • Switch to heads et / Switch to phone : switch the call to a Bluetooth headset or hands-free car kit, or back to the phone. T o use this feature, you first need to connect your he adset or car kit to the phone. p. 10 9 • Whisper mode on / Whisper mode off : turn on or off Whisper mode.
37 Send DTMF : send Dual tone multi- frequency (DTMF) tones as a group after entering the ent ire number you need to send or retrieving a number from Contacts. Calendar : access the calendar to check your schedule or enter new appointments. Memo : create a memo.
