Getting Started 8 SIM Card Information 3. With the battery in position on th e phone, place the co ver back on the handset and slide it in until it clicks. Charging a Batte r y Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery. U se the travel adaptor to charge the battery, and use on ly Sams ung approved batteries and chargers.

17 Icons Displays the received signal st rength. The greater the number of bars, the st ronger the signal. Shows the level of your batt ery . The more bars you see, the more power you have remaining. Displays when the phone’ s profile is set to Normal .

19 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functions that can be cust omized for your ease and specific needs. These func tions are arranged in menus and sub-men us, accessed using the two soft keys. Each menu and sub- menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular function.

Left Soft K ey Some functions of the le ft soft key are as fo llows.
21 End Key The End key is used to turn on/off your pho ne, disconnect calls, and return to the standby mode. • Press and hold the End key to turn on your phone. • Briefly press once to disconnect a call. • Press to return to standby mode from any menu, or to cancel the l ast input.

Call Functions 26 All Calls • Send message : Allows you to send a message, Share picture, or Voice note back to the missed number . • Save to phonebook : Allows you to save the selected recipient to the phonebook. • Delete : Allows you to delete the selected number or delete all call recor ds.
27 R etur ning a Missed Call T o return a missed call num ber , use the fo llowing steps: 1. If the display is off, press the vo lu me key to turn th e display on. The Missed call tab appears on the display . 2. Press the Vie w soft key . 3. Press the Up or Down Navigation key to scroll through the lis t of missed calls.

Adjusting the Call Volume During a call, if you want to adjust the earpiec e volume, use the Volume keys on the left side of the phone. Press the key to increase the vo lume level and the k ey to decrea se the level.

Understanding Y our Phonebook 48 Phonebook Entry Options Depending on your part icular SIM card, the maximum number of phone numbers the SIM card can st ore may differ . 1. When the Idle mode displays, press the Phonebook (Right) soft key . 2. Enter the first few letters of the name in the Contacts field.
49 • FDN Contacts : Fixed Dialling Number mode rest ricts your outgoi ng calls and SMS calls to a limited set of pho ne numbers . When this f eature is enabled, you can make calls on ly to phone numbers s tored on the SIM FDN list. • Print via Bluetooth : sends the selected contact en try information to a Bluetooth compatible printer .

T o use this feature, you must subscribe to your service provid er’ s message service.
73 Share Pi cture Share Picture i s a message service that provides delivery of personal picture messages from phone to phone or from phone to e-mail. In addition to the famili ar text conte n t of text messages, picture messages can contain images, gra phics, voice, and audio clips.

81 R etrieving a Push Message A Push message is a way of delivering co nten t (e.g. images, ring tones, etc.) to mobile phones that are WAP enabled. With a Push message you don't actually send the content in the text me ssage, you direct the mobile phone where to retrie ve it.

Messages 86 Memory Status Memor y Status Y ou can check the amount of the memory used and the memory re maining for Inbox, Sentbox, Outbox, Drafts, and My folders. The display shows the total space in cludin g the used and free space. Y ou can also v i ew how much space is currently occupied by each message box.

Choose Auto , Daylight , Cloudy , Incandescent , or Fluorescent . • Def ault storage : sets a default storage location for the photos taken on your phone. Choose Phone or Memor y card . • Def ault name : sets a default prefix name for the photos taken on your pho ne.

Choose from the following Effects Mode. - No effects : automatically adjusts the picture for the best quality available.
95 - Size : sets the video size. Choose 176 x 144 or 128 x 96 . - Quality : selects the video quality setting. Choose Fine , Normal , Low , or Economy . - Audio recording : allows you to choose whether to use audio in your video. Choose between On or Off (microphone is muted).
