6 Section 1 Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provide d with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, su ch as your PIN, any optional services available, and many others.
Section 1: Getting Started 7 Activating Y our Phone Section 1 4. Grasp the top of the battery with your finger and lift up in the direction of the arro w . Remove the batter y . 5. Slide the SIM card into the SI M card socket so that the card locks into place.

32 Section 3 Silent mode Silent mode is convenient when you wish to stop the phone fr om making noise, in a theater for example. In Idle mode, pr ess and hold the key until the “Silent mode on” message and the Silent mo de icon ( ) display . In Silent mode, in stead of sounds , your phone will vibrate.

Switch to phone/Switch to headset (Bluetooth only) Y ou can use this option to swi tch between using y our Bluetooth headset and using your phone’s earpiece a nd microphone without interrupting the call in pr ogress.

52 Section 5 Changing the T ext Input Mode When using your ph one, you wi ll often need to enter text, such as when storing a name in your Phonebook, cr eating your personal greeting or scheduling even ts on your calendar . Y ou can enter alphan umeric characters by using your phone’s keypad.

Y ou can also save it to your SIM card or you can set your default so that whenever a new phonebook entry is create d, you will be prompted to choose between Phon e or SIM car d .

92 Section 7 Outbox This message box stores messages that you have attempted to send but have not actually been sent yet. When you enter this menu, th e list of messages in the box displays wi th the reci pients’ phone numbers or names, if available in yo ur Phonebook.

Note: By pressing the Left or Right Navigation keys, you may scroll between Inbox, Sentbox, Outbox, and Drafts.

Section 7: Messages 97 Broadcast Messages (SIM Dependent) Section 7 Send settings • Delivery repor t : when this option is enabled, t he network informs you whether or not your message has been de livered. • Read reply : when this option is enabled, your phone sends a request for a reply along with your message to the recipient.

Instant Messaging Instant Messagi ng (IM) is a way of sending short, simple messages t hat are delivered immediately to users online at that moment.
