Getting Started 6 Activating Y our Phone 6. Reinstall the bat tery cove r by sliding it back onto the phone until you here it securely click. Make sure the battery is properly installe d before switching on the phon e. Charging a Batte r y Y o ur phone is powered by a rechargeable Li -ion battery.
7 Important!: Veri fy that the hand set battery is instal led prior to connecting th e travel adapter . If the battery is not install ed and the trave l adapter is conn ected the handset w ill power cycle continuousl y preventing proper operation. 2. Call Functions 24 Making a Call Ending a C all 䊳 When you want to finish your call, briefly press the key . Redialing the Last Number The phone stores the numbers of the calls you’ve dialed, received, or missed if the caller is identifi ed. T o recall any of these numbers: 1.
25 Adjusting the Call V olume During a call, use the Volume ke ys on the left si de of the phone, t o adjust the speaker volume. 䊳 Press the key to increas e the volume le vel and the key to decr ease the level. In Idle mode, you ca n also adjust the ring volume usin g these keys.
Call Functions 26 Call Records The following Ca ll Record options are a vailable: All calls This menu lets you view th e 60 most recent calls you received, dialed, and missed. The name or number , if alre ady st ored in your Phoneboo k, is displayed with the number of occurrences for each number .
27 • Add to block list : Allows you to add the highlighted number to the blocked call list. Y ou can press the key at any time to exit the M issed Call feature.
Call Functions 28 Silent Mode Silent Mode Silent Mode is convenient when you wish to stop the phone from making any noise, in a theater for ex ample. In Idle mode, press and hold the key until the “S ilent Mo de On” message and the Silent Mode icon ( ) displays.

Call Functions 30 Selecting Functions and Options Putting a Call on Hol d Y o u can place the current ca ll on hold whenever you want. Y ou can also make another call while you ha ve a call in prog ress if your network supports this service. T o place a call on hold: 1.
31 Muting or Sending Key T ones These options allo w you to turn the key tones o ff or on. If the Mute keys option is selected, your phone does not transmit th e DTMF (Dual T one Multi-Frequenc y) tones of the keys, which the n allows you to pre ss keys without hearing annoyin g key tones during a call.

Using Symbol Mode Symbol mode enables you to insert symb ols and punctuation marks into text. T o display a list of symbols press and hold the key .
Entering T ext 38 Using ABC Mode Key s By default, th e first letter o f an entry is capitali zed and all conse cutive lett ers are kept in lowercase (unle ss the Shift key is use d). After a character is entered, the cursor automaticall y advances to the ne xt space afte r two seconds or when you enter a character on a dif ferent key .

Understanding Y our Phonebook 40 Storing a Number in the Phone’ s Memory 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access the Menu mode. 2. Using the Na vigation k eys, scroll to t he Phonebook icon. Press the Select soft key or the key to enter your Phoneboo k.
41 Storing a Number in the SIM Car d The default storage location for saving ph one numbers to you r phonebook is your phone’ s built-in memory . T o sa ve a number to your SIM card , you need to change the Default Saving option first.
Understanding Y our Phonebook 42 Finding a Phonebook Entry 6. Press the Save soft key or the key . The number saves in you r SIM card. After storing, the phone disp lays the new Phonebook ent ry. 7. T o use the entry opti ons before saving the number , highlight the Name field and pres s the Options soft key .
43 Note: Any contacts which were s tored on the SIM c ard displays with a SIM card icon to the left of the entr y. Any contacts whi ch were stored on the phone displ ays with a phone ic on to the left of the e ntry. 4. Enter the firs t few letter s of the name in the text box.

45 Note: The 1 key is pre-res erved for qui ck dialing your voice mail. 5. Highlight a contact en try number from the list and press the Select soft key or the key . Y ou receive a Saved confirmation and the Speed dial menu displays the number assigned to the number key yo u selected.

47 Deleting all of the Phonebook Entries Y o u can delete all your entries from your pho ne’ s memory , your SIM card, FDN, or All. Important!: Once Phonebook entrie s have been de leted, they cann ot be recovered . 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to ac ce ss the Menu mode.

49 Memor y S tatus Y ou can check how many names and numbe rs are stored in t he Phonebook, with in both SIM card and the phone memor y . Y ou can also see the current storag e capacity of both memories. 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode.

Messages 52 T ext Messages T e xt Messages Short Messag e Servic e (SMS) allows yo u to send and receive short text messages to and from other mobile phones. In addi tion, your phone supports the Enhanced Messaging Ser vice (EMS), which e nables yo u to include simple graphics, melodies, and animated images in your messages.
53 • Attach : allows you to attach a Name card, Schedule, Anniversary item, Miscellaneous item, or T ask to your messa ge. • Save to Drafts : saves the message to the Drafts folder . • Select language : al lows you to set the language to English, Français, and Español.
Messages 54 Picture Messages Picture Messages This menu allows you to use the Mu ltimedia Message Ser vice (MMS). Picture Messaging is a messaging service that provides deliver y of personal pi cture messages from phone to phone or from phone to e mail.
55 8. Highlight one of the follo w ing options and press the Select soft key or the key . • T ake picture : launches the camera for you to take a picture. • Downloaded images : allows you to select a previously downloaded image to send in the picture message.
Messages 56 Voice note 20. The number o r address you sele cted is entered i n the To te xt box. 21. If you selected more than two recipients, press the Options soft key for the following opti ons: • Add recipients : allows you to add additional recipients to this message.
57 • New recipient : allows you to manually enter a phone number or email address. • My Album : allows you to send the message to My Album. • My Journal : allows you to send the message to My Journal. 9. Highlight the selection and press the key to mark the se lection.
Messages 58 Inbox Viewing a T ext Message from the Inbo x 1. Select a text messa ge from the li st and press the Options soft key . The following op tions display: • Reply via : allows you to send a reply to the sender by sending a T ext messa ge, Picture message, or Voice note.
59 • Reply via : allows you to send a repl y to the sender by sending a T ext message, Picture message, or Voice note. • Reply all via : allows you to send a reply to the sender by sending a Picture message or Voice note. • Call back : allows you to call the sender back.
Messages 60 Outbox • Replay : allows you to replay the Voice note. • Save address : allows you to extract the sender’ s number and URL, email addresses or phone numbers from th e message text, so that you can sa ve them in your phone’ s memory.
61 While reading a message, you can choose different options by pressing the Options soft key . Draft s This message box stores message s that you may want to edit or send a t a lat er time. When you enter this menu, the list of messages in the box dis plays.
Messages 62 Voice Mail • Phonebo ok : allows you to enter the phone number you want from your phonebook. • New number : allows you to manually enter a phone number or email address. 6. After selecting a re cipient, press the Send soft key. The template message sends to the select recipient(s).
63 2. Press the Delete soft key to delete the m arked objects. 3. After you receive the Delete? confirmation, press the Ye s soft key or press the No soft key . Settings In this menu, you can set up a default text message or a picture message. The last setting you accessed is auto matically activated for se nding subsequent messages.
Messages 64 Broadcast Messages (SIM Card Dependent) Receive Settings • Anonymous reject : you can set your phone t o automatically reject a nonymous messages. • Ads allowed : you can set your phone to au tomatically rece ive advertising messages. • Report allowed : you can set the option to receive a delivery report.
65 Starting your Instant M essaging 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode. 2. Using the Navigation keys, scroll to the IM icon. Press the Select soft key or the key to enter the menu.

67 • Home zone : allows you to se lect a time zone. • Tim e : allows you to change the hour and minute. • AM/PM : allows you to set eith er AM or PM. • Time format : allows you to select whether your time is displayed in either a 12 hours or 24 hours format.

69 Display Settings In this menu, you can ch ange various sett ings for the display or backlight. Wallpaper This menu allows you to change the background image to be displayed in Idle mode. The following opti ons are available: • Browse wallpapers : allows you to download additi onal wallpapers from t-zones.
Changing Y our Settings 70 Display Settings Backlight In this menu, you can select the length of time that the key pad backlight is on and how much longer the display is illuminated befo re going off. The On setting is how long th e keypad backlight is on.
71 T o change the background color: 1. Highlight the Background color option and press the S elect soft key or the key . 2. Use the Left or Right key to select between 20 different c olors or None. 3. Press the Save soft ke y or the key to save your change.
Changing Y our Settings 72 Sound Settings Features Actually, the Bluetooth specificati on is a pr otocol that describe s how the short-range wireless technology works, whereas individual profiles describe the services supported by individual device s.
73 Aler t ty pe This menu allows you to specify how you are to be informed of inco ming calls. Use the Right or Left key to select a Alert type. The following opti ons are available: • Melody : the phone rings using the ring melod y selected in the Ringtone menu.
Changing Y our Settings 74 Synchronization Extra tones Y o u can customize addition al tones for the phone. 1. T o turn a given tone on, press the key . A check mark displays in front of the option. Press the Save soft key to save the setting. 2. T o turn a given tone off, press th e key .
75 The following options are available: • Forward always : all calls are forwarded until this feature is cancelled. • Busy : calls are forwarded when you are already on another call. •N o r e p l y : calls are forwarded when you do not answer the phone.
Changing Y our Settings 76 Network Services The screen informs you whether call waiting is activated or deactivated. 2. Press the Select soft key o r the key to access the call’ s status menu. 3. Highlight Deactivate or Activ ate and press the Select soft key or the key .
77 Caller ID Y o u can prevent your phone number from displaying on the phone of the person called. Note: Some networks do not a llow you to change this setting. The following opti ons are available: • Default : the default setting provided by the network is used.
Changing Y our Settings 78 Security Phone lock When the Phone lock feature is enabled, the phone is lo cked and you must enter the 4- to 8-digit phone password each time the phone is s witched on. Note: T o chang e the phone pass word, see "Cha nge pass word" on pa ge 78.
79 4. T o lock the marked items, press the Save soft key . 5. Enter a password and press the OK soft key or the key. Note: T o change the passwo rd, see "Change password" on page 78. FDN mode FDN (Fixed Dial Number) mode , if s upported by your SIM card, allows you to restrict your outgoing c alls to a li mited set of phone numbers.

Fun & Apps 82 Files The following opti ons are av ailable: Browse MegaT ones Using the Browse MegaT ones option on the sounds list, you can quickly access the T -Mobile website and downlo ad new sounds by using the t-zone browser . Press the Select soft key to purchase additional MegaT ones.
83 Images In this menu, you can view the list of ima ges downloaded f rom the web server , taken with the built -in camera, or recei ved in messages. Y o u can set an image as t he current background image. 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode.
Fun & Apps 84 Files My Album My Album is a priva te online picture al bum tha t you can use to store and share pictures, videos, voice messages, and text. For more information, see "My Album" on page 102. Use the followin g pr ocedures to access My Albu m .

Fun & Apps 86 Camera Browse Games Y o u can download more games from the T -Mobile website by using the Browse Games option. 1. Highlight the Browse Games opti on and press the Connect soft key or the key . Note: When downloading games, charg es may apply.
87 Alar m This feature allows you to: • Set up to 3 alarms to ri ng at specified times. • Set the phone to s witch on automa tically and ring the alarm even if the p hone is switched off . The following opti ons are available: • Wake-u p alarm : the alarm rings to wake you up in the morning.
Fun & Apps 88 Organizer 11. Press the Select soft key once you have selected an alarm sound. 12. Press the Save soft key . 13. T o stop the alarm when it rings, press any key or press the Snooze soft key . Note: The Snooze alarm rings every fiv e minutes until it is turned off.

99 • Send to : displays the Send to menu and allows you to sele ct a destination for the currently taken photograph. This dest ination can be a single or multiple recipient(s) (such as, Recent recipients, Phonebook, or New recipient) or to a remote folder such as My Album or My Journal.
Camera 100 T ake and Send • Time r : allows you to set a time delay before the camera takes the photo. Sele ct the length of delay you want. Wh en you press the or ke y , the camera takes the photo after the specifi ed time has elapsed.
