7 G et started First steps to operating your phone SIM card information When you subscribe to a c ellular netwo rk, y ou receive a plug-in SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, and available opti onal services.
Ge t started 8 Low battery indicator When the battery is low: • a warning tone sounds, • the low battery message displays, and • the empty battery icon blinks. If the battery level becomes too low, the phone automatically turns off . Recharge your battery .

Step outside the phone 28 Watch the phone display on a TV Y ou can view the display of your phone on a TV screen by connecting th e phone a nd TV wit h a TV out cable. This enables you to enjoy the photos, videos and music stored in the pho n e’ s memory with yo ur fam ily o r friends o n a larger screen.
Step outside the phone 29 1. With the TV switched on, connect your phone to the TV with a TV out cab le, as shown. 2. Swit ch the TV to External Input mode. The display swi tches to TV Out mode and you can view the phone’s d isplay on the TV screen.
30 Enter text Stroke, T9 English, ABC, Number, and Symbol modes Y ou can en ter tex t for some features, such as Messages, Phonebook, or Calendar , by using Stroke modes for Chinese, and Quick English and English modes for English. Y ou can also enter numbers and symbols.
Ente r t ex t 31 Entering strokes and ch aracters in Stroke mode 1. Press the ke ys that correspond to a character ’ s c omponent strokes. Press keys in the order that you would write the strokes, using one press per stroke. Example : T o enter , press [ 5 ] to enter and [ 3 ] to enter .
Enter text 32 Entering a word in T9 English mode 1. Press [ 2 ] to [ 9 ] to start en te ring a word . Press each k ey once for each letter . Example : Press [ 4 ], [ 3 ], [ 5 ], [ 5 ], and [ 6 ] to enter Hello . T9 predicts the word that you are typing, and it may change with each key that y ou press .

34 Call functions Advanced calling features Making a call 1. In Idle mode, enter t he area code and phone number . 2. Press [ ]. 3. When you w a nt to end the call, press [ ]. Making a n internati onal call 1. In Idle mode, press and hold [ 0 ]. The + charac ter a ppears.
Call functions 35 Y ou can quickly dial a number from the SIM card using its location number assigned w hen stored. 1. In Idle mode, enter a location number and press [ ] . 2. Press [Left] or [Right] to scroll through other numbers. 3. Press < Dial > or [ ] to dia l the number you want .
36 Using the h eadset Use the headset to make or answer calls without holding the phone. Connect th e head set to the ja ck on the le ft side of the phone. The button on the headset works as follows: Options during a call Y ou can access a number of functions during a call.
Call functions 37 Answering a second call Y ou can answ er an incoming call while already on the phone, if your network supports it and you have activ ated the call waiting feature. p. 104 1. Press [ ] to answer the call. The first call is autom ati cally put on hold.
Call functions 38 • Send DT MF : send the DTMF (Dual tone multi-frequency) tones as a group. The DTMF tones are the tones used in phones for tone dialling, sounding when you press the number keys. This optio n is helpful for entering a password or an ac count number when you call an automated system, like a banking service.

Menu func tio ns 40 Missed calls (Menu 1.2) This menu displays the most recent calls you did not answer . Dialled calls (Menu 1.3) This menu displays the most recent calls you have dialled. Received calls (Menu 1.4) This menu displays the most recent calls you have received.
41 Call costs (Menu 1.7) This network feature display s the c ost of calls. This menu is av ailable only if supported by your SIM card. Note that this is not intended to be used for billing purposes. • Last call cost : check the cost of your last call.
Menu func tio ns 42 Using Phonebo ok options While viewing contact details, press < Options > to access th e fo llowing o p tio n s: • Edit : edit contact information. • Send messag e : send an SMS, i-mail, or MMS message t o th e selec ted numbe r , or to the selected e-mail address.
