13 Your Phone 12 Your Phone Display Display Layout The display comprises three areas. Signal strength : shows the received signal strength. The greater the number of bars, the better the signal strength. Icons Area Description First line Displays various icons (see page 13).
15 14 Your Phone Backlight The display and keypad are illuminated by a backlight. When you open the flip cover, press any key or hold down one of the volume keys with the flip cover closed, the backlight comes on. It turns off if no key is pressed within a given period of time, depending on the Backlight option in the Phone menu.

29 Call Functions 28 Call Functions In-Call Options Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. To access these functions during a call, press the Options soft key. Switching the Microphone Off (Mute) Y ou can temporarily switch your phone’s microphone off, so that the other party cannot hear you.
31 Call Functions 30 Call Functions Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the cur r ent call on hold whenever you want. You can make another call while you have a call in progress if this service is supported by the network. Of these two calls, one is active and the other is on hold and you can swap between the calls.

35 34 Call Functions Muting/Sending Key Tones These options allow you to turn the key tones off or on. If the Mute keys option is selected, your phone does not transmit the key tones. It allows you to press keys without hearing annoying key tones during a call.

61 60 Call Records V ia this menu, you can view the phone calls: • Missed • Received • Dialled The number and name (if available) are displayed, together with the date and time at which the call was made. You can also view call times and costs. Missed Calls Menu 1-1 This option lets you view the last 10 unanswered calls.

67 M e s s a g e s Preset Message List Menu 2-4 Using this menu, you can preset up to five messages that you use most frequently. This menu shows the preset message list. Scroll through the list using the and keys. When the required message number appears, press the Options soft key.
Default Type: allows you to set the default message type (Text, Voice, Fax, X.400, Email, and ERMES). The network can convert the messages into the selected format. Default Validity: allows you to set the length of time for which your text messages will be stored at the SMS centre while attempts are made to deliver them to you.
71 Voice Functions 70 Record This option allows you to record voice tags and assign them to the appropriate numbers. Say the name that you wish to use for voice dialling after you hear a voice prompt. For best results, use names with at least two syllables, or use both a first and last name.
V oice Command Menu 3-2 This menu allows you to access frequently used menus quickly by saying your own voice command. Y ou can select the following options. Record: depending on the SIM card, the 20 most frequently used menu functions can be assigned voice commands.
75 Voice Functions 74 Voice Functions AnswerPhone Menu 3-4 Y ou can set your phone to answer calls and play a r ecorded message. Y ou can use the message to inform callers of your curr ent situation and to guide them to leave messages in your voice mail.
77 T o n e s 76 Composing a Melody Y ou can compose three melodies. 1. When you access the menu, the names of any melodies created are displayed. Otherwise, (Empty) appears. Select the melody that you wish to create or edit. 2. Press the Select soft key and compose your melody using the following keys.

Network Services Menu 5-2 These menu functions are network services. Please contact your service provider to check their availability and subscribe to them, if you so wish. Call Barring The call barring network service allows you to r estrict your calls. Call barring can be set up in the following ways. All outgoing: calls cannot be made.
Call Waiting This network service enables you to be informed when someone is trying to reach you during another call. T o set your call waiting options, proceed as follows.

CLIP (Calling Line Identification Presentation) / COLP (Connected Line Identification Presentation) If these network functions are active, the caller’ s number is displayed during a call.
Change PIN This feature allows you to change your cur rent PIN toa new one, provided that the PIN Check feature is enabled. You must enter the curr ent PIN before you can specify a new one. Once you have entered a new PIN, you are asked to confirm it by entering it again.
S e t t i n g s SIM Lock When the SIM Lock feature is enabled, your phone only works with the cur r ent SIM. You must enter the SIM lock code. Once you have entered the lock code, you are asked to confirm it by entering it again. T o unlock the SIM, you must enter the SIM lock code.
